Ep. 12 (part 2) - NBA Free Agency and Mike's One Beer
We talk too much, so instead of another 2 hour episode we've split this week's show into two for your listening pleasures. With NBA free agency well underway, the Warriors "ruining" basketball, and LeBron's move to LA we discuss the exciting moves around the NBA. Meanwhile, Mike has A beer and get goofy. Oh, and we have finally gotten around to getting our website functioning, 5gplayground.com so take a gander at that! As always, if you like us, or if you think we're trash, feel free to share your opinion with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (@5gplayground). Feel free to click that subscribe button, don't forget to rate/review the show, and tell your friends about us. Lace up your light-up sneaks and come join us on The 5th Grade Playground!

Ep. 12 (part 1) - World Cup Round of 16, Introvert vs. Extrovert, and Candy Flavor Ranks
With the World Cup down to the last 4 teams, The 5th Grade Playground is having the conversation that truly matters... is banana the most polarizing articial flavor? We also discuss introvert vs. extrovert personality types, oh... and the World Cup.  Oh, and we have finally gotten around to getting our website functioning, 5gplayground.com so take a gander at that! Ep. 11 - Uh... I Think We Lost Mike! World Cup-date and Other Random Thoughts
We did our best to stay on track and give an update on the World Cup. But then we lost Mike to a comfy couch and all hell broke loose. Without proper guidance Garrett and Nick turned World Cup discussion into a conversation about the Nintendo Switch, NBA, running out of gas/can I make it?, slow drivers, slow walkers, and other random things that are not the World Cup.  Oh, and we have finally gotten around to getting our website functioning, 5gplayground.com so take a gander at that! Ep. 10 - World Cup 2018: A History Lesson With J. Michael Ball
With the commencement of World Cup 2018 and the USA lacking representation, The 5th Grade Playground sought out a foremost authority on worldly endeavors and information. J. Michael Ball, Garrett's brother, is an oracle of knowldege... except when it comes to sports. Nonetheless we invited him on to the playground this week to discuss the World Cup and see which country he thinks will hoist the trophy. Not because he knows sports, but because he knows history! Our thanks to him for making the show a little smarter... we may actually make it to the 6th grade one day! As always, if you like us, or if you think we're trash, feel free to share your opinion with us on Twitter and Instagram (@5gplayground). Ep. 9 - Technical Difficulties and Operator Error
Garrett and Nick talk while Mike slowly dies inside after a long, long day. They miss him. They need him. But then they won…der. If they fell, into the sky, do you think time, would pass them by OHHH cuz they would record for 1000 hours if they could just…get...views……….TONIGHT (ba nanana nanana na nananana ba nanana nanana na nananana). Also LeBron gets his soul broken on live TV, Ambien’s side effects are horrifying, and 23 & Me attempts to ruin some happy marriages…all on the 5th Grade Playground. Corey Simpson joins The 5th Grade Playground this week to discuss all things movies; creative processes, writing, directing, producing, and more! We discuss a wide variety of movie genres from kung-fu to horror, how Corey creates and develops characters, and why you shouldn't abandon the movie theatre. Support Corey and give him a follow on Twitter, Instagram, and Letterboxd @csimpson1107.    As always, if you like us, or if you think we're trash, feel free to share your opinion with us on Twitter and Instagram (@5gplayground). Ep. 7 - Randy Hulette's Athletic Journey; Football, Baseball, and D*ckhead Coaches
In this episode, The 5th Grade Playground welcomes Randy Hulette to the show to discuss his time as a stand-out high-school football/baseball player in Central Florida. We wander through his time as a menacing linebacker, nearly un-hittable pitcher, and the triumphs and tribulations of being a standout high-school athlete. We hope you enjoy this episode, as we thoroughly enjoyed recording this show and our time talking with Randy. Ep. 6 - Happy Mother's Day!
In this episode, The 5th Grade Playground welcomes its very first guests to the show! With Mother's Day approaching, our mothers were kind enough to sit down with us and share some of the very best (and worst) things about being a mom and raising their outstanding children. We really enjoyed making this episode and hope it's something that everyone is able to relate to and enjoy. Ep. 5 - E-Sports, Mock (The) NFL Draft, and Super Smash Brothers Draft
Welcome back to The 5th Grade Playground! In this episode, we discuss our distaste of the NFL Draft, the rising popularity of e-sports, and most importantly we hold our very own mock(ery) draft by selecting our Super Smash Brothers backyard football teams! As always, if you like us, or if you think we're trash, feel free to share your opinion with us on Twitter and Instagram (@5gplayground). Ep. 4 - Street Sharks, Marijuana, and Super Producer Mike Hook
This week The 5th Grade Playground crew was inspired by the festivities of 4/20 and the candid conversations on social media about marijuana usage in professional sports. A far cry from the days of Nancy Reagan and the War on Drugs, the crew discusses their own thoughts on marijuana legalization and how this drug has gone from harshly stigmatized to widely accepted as a potential medicine and recreational substance. They also welcome Mike Hook, a 3rd co-host and producer. Will he have any insights? Will he have a nasal-y voice? Will he make a horrible first contribution to the show centered around the lesser known 90s cartoon Street Sharks? Who knows! Come listen and find out. As always, if you like us, or if you think we're trash, feel free to share your opinion with us on Twitter and Instagram (@5gplayground). Ep. 3 - If At First You Don't Succeed...
Our apologies for the delay with this episode... This is actually the 2nd installment of episode 3 of The 5th Grade Playground Podcast as the first go around resulted in a corrupted audio file... sooooo many profanities. But, don't worry! Much like mom's crockpot chili, this one is still tasty the second time around. In this week's episode we discuss the UEFA Champions League, The Almighty Zlatan, the NBA playoffs, and why Sam Hinkie deserves to be this year's NBA Executive of the Year. As always, if you like us, or if you think we're trash, feel free to share your opinion with us on Twitter and Instagram (@5gplayground). Ep. 2 - Brackets Busted - Cake vs. Pie
In this week's episode, Garrett and Nick attempt to recap the March Madness Elite 8 match-ups, but struggle to make it through the Duke vs. Kansas game as Nick can't contain his rage before ultimately swearing off March Madness and brackets all together. Luckily Garrett is there to steer the episode in a better direction and distract Nick with a cake vs. pie bracket. Please join us as we give you the definitive Champion of the Cake vs. Pie Tournament Challenge! If you like us, or if you think we're trash, feel free to share your opinion with us on Twitter and Instagram (@5gplayground). Ep. 1 - Welcome To The 5th Grade Playground - Mike D'Antoni's Gravitational Forces
Welcome, welcome one and all... and by all we literally mean probably one... to The 5th Grade Playground! In this episode we have the distinct honor of introducing ourselves to the airwaves and inter-web with the riveting tale of how Nick and Garrett met and became the best of friends all because of a heat-seeking red rubber kick-ball, a bag of stale popcorn, and fizzy soda pop. We will also take you through our outline for the show going forward! Later in the show we discuss how Mike D'Antoni's "7-seconds or less" offense has spurred incremental change in the landscape and schematics of the NBA. If you like us, or if you think we're trash, feel free to share your opinion with us on Twitter and Instagram (@5gplayground). Below is a link to the article from basketballinsiders.com we cite in this episode. We are excited to have you with us and hope you enjoy our pandering and useless babble!
