We’ve come to the close of our first season! In this last episode, we reflect on the results of our social experiment and mutually agree that dating is exhausting. Sarah deletes her Bumble account (so done) and Jalynn makes hers inactive (guess she’s not as done...). For the fifth and final Bumble date of the project, we give you a plot twist–we each go on a date with the same (clueless) guy. Our conversation centers around the lack of diversity in higher education and the vital need for all-black spaces. We also talk about the dangers of judging by appearances. In our fourth Bumble date debrief, we confront the complexities of discussing our experience with men raised outside the United States.  We talk about the perils of trauma comparison, beauty standards, objectification, and the male gaze. Jalynn shares her struggles in the fashion photography industry and Sarah recounts her journey to say “f it” to bras. 

In this episode, we discuss the dynamics of race in dating relationships, and yes, more white privilege. We call out sexism and the normalization of rape in media. Digging deep into our childhood experiences, we explore gender roles in the home, women’s compensation, the patriarchal Disney culture in the church, and how personality types affect relationships (shout out to Myers-Briggs and the Enneagram). We’ve gone on our second Bumble dates and we’re ready to talk! Our conversation centers around the awareness of white privilege with Guys #2. We also discuss valuing the humanity of all people and question the boundaries of political debates in life and work. A plan is put in place to avoid the tendency to self-edit.
