What Happens When You Are Diagnosed with Cancer?
It was just a normal day… Imagine that you’re cruising thru life, going about your business and you get a cold. Nothing unusual about that, right? I mean – what mom actually gets a ‘sick day’? You keep plugging along doing your normal thing with an extra box of tissues on hand. Now imagine that cold hasn’t gone away after a few weeks and perhaps you start to think about going to the doctor. You go to the doctor and you just happen to mention this weird little lump you found on your breast. “But surely it’s nothing, right?” you say to the doctor. And the doctor looks at your lump and then tells you that you need to get it looked at – right away. Uhm. What?  This is what the couple of days looked like to our guest, Dara Kurtz 2 years ago right before she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Listen to this week’s podcast as Dara talks about that day at the doctor’s office and the events that unfolded from there. She talks about the changes it made in her family’s lives as well as hers and how going thru everything motivated her to start writing a book and a wildly popular blog that chronicles her life – then and now. So, grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and enjoy this special show. When a School Goes on Lockdown – Podcast with Jennifer Wolfe
School Lockdowns Podcast I wonder if anything strikes fear in a parent more than getting notified that their child’s school is in lockdown. The information they send out is vague at best, and we’re often left to wonder what is going on. You may even want to rush to the school and be there in person. Last year, my oldest went thru her first lockdown that was because of a possible gun issue. The texts I received from her were full of uncertainty and we couldn’t get an answer from the schools – obviously dealing with what could be a full-blown crisis was the most important thing. It didn’t last long – 1 hour tops – but enough for me to worry more than I ever have. This week, listen as our guest, Jennifer Wolfe, describes exactly what happens when a school goes into lockdown. We discuss: * What some of the reasons are that cause a school to lockdown * What she as a teacher is responsible for doing * What parents should do and not do * Jennifer’s experience during the last lockdown that she went through And more!!
