We believe that God is always present, which means that every moment is an opportunity to experience His grace! Scriptures: Psalm 121 and Exodus 34:29-35. Sermon from May 17, 2020.

We believe that God is always with us, and it's easy to feel that during good times, when everything seems to be going right. But what about when your strength starts to fade? Or what about when you’re just tired? You know God says that faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains, but what about when you feel like you can’t even move your own tongue to pray? This week, we talk about finding God when your faith starts to weaken.   --------------------   First Scripture:   21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, 22 and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.   23 The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea. 24 During the last watch of the night the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion. 25 He jammed the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.”   - Exodus 14:21-25 (NIV)   Second Scripture:   22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, 24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.   25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.   27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”   28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”   29 “Come,” he said.  Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.  30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”  31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”   32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”  - Matthew 14:22-33 (NIV)

Thankfulness is more than just writing a note — it’s about truly appreciating what’s been done. As it turns out, that’s a good starting point for faithfulness! Scriptures: 2 Kings 5:9-15 and Luke 17:11-19.

There are several times in scripture that Jesus heals people, and not just physically — the healing of Jesus is for spiritual problems too! Scriptures: Acts 19:11-18 and Mark 1:29-34.

If we’re looking for ways that God has revealed Himself, why not look at the miracles that Jesus worked? This week, we look at His first miracle and see how God uses ordinary things in extraordinary ways.

One of the best ways for us to see God’s will in our lives is to spend time in prayerful reflection of the ways He’s worked before.

How does God show us His will? How can we act faithfully in our everyday lives?

The first people invited to see the newborn Jesus weren’t kings, but shepherds. This week, we consider what we can hear in the invitation to come and see.

To Herod, the news that a savior was coming did not seem like good news. In order to protect the newborn Jesus, Mary and Joseph has to go on the run.

The people of Israel went to John the Baptist expecting a distraction, but what they found was a powerful message of hope instead!

The prophets came to proclaim freedom to Israel, but it wasn’t just immediate freedom — in Jesus, the world found salvation and true freedom forever!
