In this episode, we meet dr. Raymond Thomas, an associate professor in the school of science and the environment at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University. Dr. Thomas is joined by Mi’kmaw guide Ivan White Sr., Ivan J. White Jr., and Brady Reid to discuss Maw-lukutinej in practice. Dr. Thomas and Ivan White Sr. collaborated to study lipids in the meat and antlers of locally-hunted caribou and moose.

In this final episode of the season, our conversation turns to some final thoughts regarding university-community relationships, and present the framework of "Two-Eyed Seeing" coined by Albert Marshall that informed the research work in Flat Bay.

The conversation continues in this episode as we unpack the registration process for the Qalipu Mi'kmaq First Nation and identify some characteristics of what we call "contemporary colonialism" that persists in Western Newfoundland.

Elder White discusses what was named the "2002 Regime" as one of the original proposals for the foundation of the Qalipu Mi'kmaq First Nation that never fully materialized when the First Nation was recognized almost a decade later.
