Episode 4: Talking Shopera
Episode 4 of Talking Shop, "Talking Shopera," is now online.
In this episode, Josh and James interview Anthony Clark Evans, a professional opera singer who is also a three-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The two co-hosts talk with Evans—Clark, as he goes by in his personal life—about his shot to notereity in the opera community (he went from selling cars to landing a contract with the Chicago Lyric Opera in a span of about six months, winning a prestigious competition on the stage at the Met in the interim), how his expertise in vocal production and experience in several other genres of music have translated to his success as a barbershop singer, and how his experience in barbershop has benefitted his professional career in opera.
We also discuss how Clark and James once almost intentionally vomited on stage during a barbershop contest, Clark's scream on stage in Portland, some of Clark's favorite quartets, and several other tangents as well.
