Boker Plus Gnome designed by Vox Knives There is a saying that all folding knives come broken from the factory. This is partiality true, and they can fail under conditions that would never be an issue for a fixed blade. Here's a broken folder blade that Matt found. Not very useful as-is. BK&T BK-11 Becker Necker may be considered small to some but with an OAL of 6-3/4" it's hardly tiny. You can get a good 3+ finger grip on it. And It's not going to break so easily. The diminutive Boker Plus Vox Gnome. Add to your gear as a back up fixed, as a light run to the store carry or as a back up to a folder. Fit and finish are excellent for a ~$30 knife. Don't expect to get more than 2 fingers on it... So what are some other small fixed blade knives we can consider? Three from Böker, The Tom Krein Grasshopper and Voxknives Gnome and Rhino Calf all are on my list. The BK&T Remora is like the Becker Necker’s lil’ brother. Doug Ritter’s RSK is designed fit into an Altoids tin, but would be great to carry in other ways. The Buck Hartsook and Smidgen, are tiny little knives that would be a simple addition to a key chain or as a neck knife. All have been on my wish list for a while.

Sorry for the 2-week drought. Quick one talking about special considerations for the urban environment. I think that even though most people think urban living means an automatic bug-out situation, there are times when you want to just lay low where you are and not risk running out of the city. Make plans for both situations, wherever you call home.
