Justice or Just-Us?
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. -Martin Luther King Jr. In this episode we will discuss the interpretation, application and dispensation of justice in America. The cases of Kyle Rittenhouse, the murderers on Ahmaud Arbery, and the continuation of the saga of January 6th have left many feeling that justice is not only blind, but deaf, unable to hear the cries of those who need her the most. How far are willing to go to see justice served? What is the line between, justice and authoritarianism? How can we respect the system, when the system doesn't respect us? What if you had the power to make your own justice? What would you do? We witness when one man with all the power in the world is pushed to the brink and becomes his own justice. No one man should have all this power.... Injustice (2021) | DC (dccomics.com)

The role of reality warpers in comics has been as heroes and villains'. Beings with the power to bend the very cosmos to their will are a constant threat to all we know. While those that seek to bend reality in the real world wield microphones and gavels and not Infinity Gauntlets, they are no less able to make us doubt all that we know. In this episode we will take on the blatant attempts to remake our history, alter our present and control the future of our democracy as we know it. In my heart, I knew you still cared. Waiting for Superman
Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's a black dude? Superman is the worlds greatest superhero and has been for 75 years. Now as the world of comic book authors, artists and producers becomes as diverse and reflective of the world we live in, is it time to reimagine the Man of Steel? In this episode we talk about the politics of inclusion and how diversity has affected even fictional societies. Does the S mean the same thing if it is not worn on the chest of a white guy from Kansas? Can we accept Kara/Supergirl if she's from Brazil? Are we really making progress on inclusion, or are we practicing tokenism? All questions that we ask and answer in this episode....BUIpy2nyPiRcvkb78Y54 Support the show

I said SHAZAM-A not SHAZAM-er!
There are few words in comic books that evoke the level of power that SHAZAM does. Imagine being able to say a single word and transform a life r empower and depower others. While SHAZAM bestows Billy Batson the power of a pantheon of Gods, the word Nigga/Nigger carries a very different kind of power. In this episode we will explore the awesome power of words in both comics and politics and those who wield them!

The final blow has been struck and the villain falls.. But is the battle truly over? The one thing that comics teaches us that no hero or villain is ever really gone. Politics loves a comeback story and while republicans treat to recoup their losses, they know that any misstep by the Biden administration can be their portal back to the halls of power. But what of Trumpism? Is it truly vanquished? That remains to be seen. But for now the country celebrates and hope is in the air. Peace has returned, but for how long? Support the show

2 Santa Clause is Coming to Town...
Santa the Man, the Myth, the Mutant? It's Christmas and our favorite jolly old elf is at the center of this episode. He has wielded the Infinity Gauntlet and given coal to Darkseid, but did you know that he was the basis of a political strategy? In this episode we will discuss the Two Santa Clause theory and how it's effecting America's Covid economic relief strategy. Merry Christmas and Happy holidays from Superhero Politics!

Xsposed and Xcluded
Even though the world hates and fears them for their mutant abilities, the XMen risk their lives for the good of mankind. Black people can feel their pain. We have voluntarily died in wars for this country, endured slavery and segregation and at every conceivable moment we have rushed to defend this land. How does a race of powerful people navigate a society that appears bent on their oppression? You don't have to have Xavier's telepathy to sense the fear and anger that is brewing in our every changing country.

Wonder Women of Politics..
Wonder Woman, Storm, Zatanna, Emma Frost are some of the most formidable characters in all of comicdom. Often they are juxtaposed next to less powerful male heroes and burdened with ridiculous limits on their abilities. The same could be said of American Politics, particularly about Black women. In comics when a female character discovers her powers and the depth of them they are sometimes seen as a threat before becoming a force. Black women in politics have been like Sue Richards...invisible. Not any more. From Shirley Chisholm to our new VPOTUS Elect Kamala Harris, black women are proving they are a force in American politics and that they have the power!

There is nothing more shocking than the death of your favorite hero. It feels as though all hope is lost. In the fictional world of comic books there is nothing less permanent than death. But what do we do when the hero dies in real life? Are we mourning the loss of the character or the loss of the man? In this episode we discuss the untimely and surprising loss of Chadwick Boseman who portrayed T'Challa, The Black Panther, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We will look at his effect on black culture, the history of the character and the life and legacy of the man. The king is dead....long live the King! Support the show
