FAAMG Advertising: Being at the Mercy of Gatekeepers
FAAMG advertising has made big tech a boatload of money in the past decade. First they lured in the innocent by promoting their platforms and apps for free followed by a more or less well crafted bouquet of intrusive ads that made the heads of even the most sophisticated users spin. It looks like the following nugget of wisdom has been purposefully ignored while igniting a laisser-faire culture that seems to be hardly bothered by the aggressive nature of these fancy technological intrudors: If you’re not paying for the product, YOU ARE THE PRODUCT! Let’s take a step back before we get into a deeper analysis. The term FAAMG stands for Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft and Google. It’s an abbreviation coined by Goldman Sachs looking to come up with a new stock name that encapsulates the performance of these top five tech companies. [Source: Investopedia] Having started my social advertising journey on the Facebook ecosystem a decade ago thus being one of the “fortunate” ones to witness the birth of a rising star, I can definitely tell you that a lot has changed since. The number of users and advertisers has exploded.The amount of networks purchased (e.g. WhatsApp, Instagram) and seamlessly integrated into Facebook has turned the social media provider into an advertising giant to be reckoned with.The simple advertising dashboard has morphed into an octopus incapsulating several elements of the Facebook Business Suite such as for example the Creative Hub and the Creator Studio making the former Power Editor that was the go to place for Facebook advertising Pro’s look like a ghost from the past. What comes next? Will FAAMG continue on its path or will users and advertisers leave these centralized eco-chambers in favor of decentralized blockchain systems? The sheer amount of censorship being deployed on these entities and AI doing the heavy lifting is certainly pushing critical thinkers and people who rely on their own mental faculties more than the narrative promulgated by governments, big tech and other media companies towards a decentralized and more human-friendly environment. The Battle for Attention 2.0 When social media first started out it was all about drawing attention to your profile, content, persona, the stuff that you’re wearing etc. The game has evolved since and we’re entering phase two which is all about “keeping the eyeballs” while either navigating away from big tech or putting up with their ever increasing levels of BS in a clever way. Whether you want to go with the second route which requires you to bend over your knees, disconnect from your own set of values in order to comply or find smart ways to move your audience (hint: subscribers) over to new decentralized platforms, is totally up to you. SIDENOTE: If your audience has surpassed the zombie state of consciousness and is super bothered by the intrusive nature of the FAAMG ads that he/she is being served regularly, your job will certainly be a lot easier. It makes me happy to see the increased number of true journalists who managed to move their subscribers from YouTube where most of them have been deplatformed over to LBRY / Odysee. I’m also pleasantly surprised by the improvements @BillOttman and his team have made on MINDS thus offering a blockchain-based alternative to Facebook where familiar features such as the Newsfeed, the Explore page (#Discovery), the advertising dashboard, analytics, messenger etc. make your transitions a little bit smoother. For those of you who’re ready to jumpstart the entire process and move straight into blockchain advertising, I highly suggest you read my article “Why Bother with Blockchain Social Ads” where I walk you through setting up an ad on MINDS. Transitioning from FAAMG Advertising to Decentralized Blockchain Ads Whether FAAMG advertising will be around in the next ten years to come remains to be seen and experienced. One thing is certain though: the blockchain space will evolve and decentralization will help surface all the privacy concerns we currently have with traditional social networks. I started transitioning to the blockchain advertising space over a year ago. It’s been a crazy ride to say the least. The speed new social ecosystems emerge, the quickness new features are implemented and the swiftness in which utility tokens are integrated has been mind-boggling. And I thought the last decade was insane in terms of progression; I guess we all need to seriously buckle up for what’s ahead of us. Coming from a humble and open-minded place, always willing to learn, adapt and grow has made things a lot easier and more pleasant for me. In the years to come FAAMG advertising will need to change, improve and evolve otherwise I don’t think this model will survive past the next decade. Deploy Critical Thinking While Navigating Through Uncertainty
Critical thinking is undesirable yet extremely important nowadays! When you hear the same message being deployed across the world, you innately know there is something fishy going on. If you decouple from the noise, you experience different countries using the same words and expressions. A well-orchestrated system with members acting and speaking the same way requires decades of preparation. Kudos to the marketing and advertising agencies involved although their copywriting needs thorough improvement. There is one crucial thing you didn’t consider though: the human spirit and emotions are what lets your actors blow up. Controlling the mind is easy. Everyone with a basic understanding of psychology knows how to use fear, anxiety, frustrations, desires, aggressiveness and all those other low frequency triggers to move an actor from A to B. The task gets even easier with modern day utilities such as social media. Manipulating perception, stimulating the amygdala and getting certain (keyword!) so-called human beings to perform a particular action has become a breeze. It doesn’t require a genius to lead the sheep into a tunnel while the lions are sleeping. Enough is enough: The time has come for the lions to break lose from apathy and debunk the fairytale of the human farm. Awaken Your Spirit We live in absolutely crazy times and things are about to get even more insane if we don’t step up to the plate. While the majority has lost their inner compass allowing the media, governments and questionable experts to dictate their lives, a group of highly intelligent and sophisticated human beings are reclaiming their inner power by tapping into intuition and everything good our spirit has to offer. As a sports and health advocate I’m always interested in learning from genuine top performers with minds / bodies of steel and hearts / spirits of gold. The teachings of two Navy SEAL come to mind in the context of today’s global madness that I’d like you to make acquaintance with. The first one is Navy SEAL Michael Jaco. He is a military hero, a member of one of the most elite Special Forces units, SEAL Team Six. Listening to several interviews with him and reading his book “The Intuitive Warrior”, has confirmed several techniques I learned from Dr. Joe Dispenza in the past years while giving these concepts a very practical spin. “The gift of intuition is available to everyone, but to harness this gift takes patience, discipline, and desire. Once you have the gift, you can lose it if you do not continue to honor its promptings. If you do lose it or do not yet have it in your awareness, it will return whenever you are ready and willing.”— Michael Jaco The second one is Navy SEAL David Goggins. He is the only member of the US Armed Forces to complete SEAL training, the US Army Ranger School and Air Force Tactical Air Controller training. Listening to his extended podcast interviews on Brian Rose’s London Real Show and reading his book “Can’t Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds” has taught me how to use discipline to tap into the inner, most frightening parts of the mind so that I’m able to release the brakes that hold me back. “Only you can master your mind, which is what it takes to live a bold life filled with accomplishments most people consider beyond their capability.”— David Goggins Before we get to the critical thinking part of this post, I’d like to remind you of the power and greatness you have within you. Harness these amazing gifts; activate them on a daily basis so that external stimuli and the low frequency emotions of your reptilian brain don’t stand a chance. Embrace Critical Thinking Do your own thinking. You’re not a chicken, nor are you a mule. There is no such thing as the “one” best source, right channel or authority to listen to. Gather as much information as possible. Look at things from different angles and perspectives. Raise questions and attend panels, virtual summits or discussions where speakers and attendees disagree. The last thing we need is a herd mentality. That’s not freedom, never was and never will be irrespective of the mainstream narrative – which by the way is becoming increasingly authoritarian as days go by. Research heavily. Ask yourself who benefits most from what’s being imposed and communicated. If you find yourself on the losing part of the equation, you know something is wrong. My mantra has always been: “WHO says WHAT to WHOM”. It always starts with WHO and it never passes the WHO stage if the messenger isn’t genuine. Therefore, research those who communicate to you. If your head tells you, “They’re ok” but your gut says otherwise, trust your gut. You can never trust your mind. Even the most skilled in mind control, who know the inner workings of the mind better then anyone else, can hardly rely on it. Your mind is a tool. Use it as such and reap the benefits. You are the captain of your ship. Deploy critical thinking and let your soul AKA your innate intelligence, which nobody can hijack so quickly, help you navigate through craziness and uncertainty. Experimenting with Alternative Marketing Platforms
In a world gone crazy, the run on decentralized marketing and communication platforms has intensified. Whether this is by accident or caused by the concept of freedom being the ultimate essential condition in life finally syncing in and awakening more and more souls around the world, remains to be seen. As traditional marketing channels have become increasingly centralized, the urge to look for alternative marketing platforms has led to a bouquet of new networks competing for users and their precious time AKA attention. In the previous months I covered the need for decentralization and shared with you several platforms that have embraced the blockchain technology to create crypto agnostic ecosystems. After pulling out a lot of my resources from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Co. and allocating them to testing new alternative platforms, I’m happy to be able to share with you a few insights you might find valuable. First off, let me start by addressing the elephant in the room. Clearly I’m talking about decentralization. The two ecosystems I have found so far to be fully decentralized and censorship-resistant are LBRY and Hive. Whereas LBRY is mainly known for two frontend platforms, LBRY.tv which is used by developers and more tech-savvy people, and Odysee with its clean and user-friendly design targeting the perfect YouTube consumer, the Hive ecosystem is extremely complex and sophisticated. Here are some of Hive’s frontend networks that allow you to interact with the entire ecosystem: PeakD – https://peakd.com/Hive.Blog – https://hive.blog/@kriszrokkLeoFinance – https://leofinance.io/3Speak – https://3speak.co/user/kriszrokkDTube – https://d.tube/ For those of you looking to upload video content, LBRY / Odysee, 3Speak and DTube should definitely be something to consider. If you love to share your written content, PeakD and Hive.blog are a good option. Furthermore, if you blog about finance and crypto, you can also use LeoFinance. Alternative Marketing Platforms that Aren’t Censorship-Resistant While experimenting with some of the newer platforms, I came across another “ecosystem”. There is no big tech behind the system (at least not yet), nor is it censorship-resistant. You need to adhere to the platforms’ rules in order to post your content and not be banned. Unlike Hive where you need to store your master key, posting key etc. in a safe place, which is often seen as an issue for mainstream adoption, the signup procedure, posting and interaction on these platforms is a lot easier and more user-friendly. I present to you the Bitcoin Cash agnostic sites read.cash and noise.cash. 1. Read.cash Read.cash is a blogging platform similar to Medium where you can publish articles with images and videos. If somebody upvotes your writing including your comments, you earn some Bitcoin Cash. The system uses on-chain transactions for peer-to-peer upvote payments. Signing up is pretty easy. You pick a nickname, provide your email address and set a password. Next, you’ll be given a 12-word seed phrase for the read.cash native Bitcoin Cash wallet. Write down that seed phrase and store it in a safe place. Once you’re done with that you can practically start using the platform. 2. Noise.cash Noise.cash is the Twitter alternative that rewards users in Bitcoin Cash. It works as follows: Occasionally noise.cash will give you free tips which you can use to reward interesting posts or useful comments. You cannot withdraw these tips directly to your wallet; instead you give it to other users and keep a percentage to yourself. “If you give it to spammers, to your own accounts or take too much yourself, we might never give it to you again.” — noise.cash rules Interesting concept, isn’t it? Signing up is super easy. You pick a nickname, insert your email address and set up a password. Things are even easier than at read.cash as you don’t have an integrated wallet. The Bitcoin Cash payouts go straight to the wallet address you provided. One more thing to know before you jump onboard: The project is in Alpha and therefore risky. These are not the only two sites in the so called “.cash”-ecosystem. Memo.cash for example is a blockchain-based social media network where you can post text, images, videos, tip and get tipped in Bitcoin Cash. The platform comes with an integrated Bitcoin Cash wallet where you can store and transact your BCH. The keys to your wallet are provided during the signup process, therefore pay extra attention where you store them. Causes.cash focuses on uncensorable fundraising giving support to those who need it most while leveraging blockchain technology. Setting up a campaign is pretty straightforward and self-explanatory especially if you’re used to platforms such as Kickstarter for example. Obviously the entire system is based on Bitcoin Cash. Adoption Is A Challenge We tend to forget that Facebook, Twitter & Co. required almost two decades to become household names in the social media marketing space. Whereas they have paved the way to understanding how these platforms work, adoption remains one of the core issues alternative marketing platforms face. To be fair, I’m still experimenting with the above-mentioned sites and I’m far from being a heavy user AKA investing vast amounts of time into them. This being said, here are some of the challenges I reckon these platforms are struggling with: AUDIENCE. The projects are in their early stages and therefore you’ll find an undistinguishable group of people who are passionate about cryptocurrency and everything that evolves around generating crypto. Often times you’ll encounter this very same group of people across several crypto-agnostic platforms. Obviously, you’ll also notice a lot of scammers although the teams in charge are doing whatever they can to limit their exposure. Growing the user base while ensuring quality accounts is going to be of crucial importance to the survival of these platforms. SUSTAINABILITY. Without hiding behind the bushes, I don’t see the current model that’s being deployed as sustainable. It’s a one-way journey. A possible solution for closing the loop while keeping everybody engaged in the ecosystem would be to introduce an advertising project that is highly-relevant and appealing as an optional variant thus minimizing side effects. SCALABILITY. Growth is non-negotiable. It can happen horizontally by enlarging the user base as well as vertically by introducing new systems that are interoperable and provide that specific twist needed to thrive in today’s age. There are lots of obstacles that come with an immense array of opportunities if we allow our minds to open up to new ways of thinking and doing things. In closing, I’d like to leave you with the following: The Universe is not a hostile environment. Actually it takes tremendous effort to carry out negative actions, impose nasty restrictions and force users to leave a network they have built for big tech (not the other way around as Google, Facebook & Co. would like us to think). The Power of Decentralized Marketing
Gone are the days of critical thinking and freedom of speech. Those who don’t comply with the mainstream narrative are de-monetized, de-platformed and often labeled mentally ill. It’s time to leave the centralized marketing land of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Co. and join decentralized marketing networks that welcome people who are bold enough to question everything. I joined Twitter and Facebook in 2011. Those were fun times; nobody really knew what we were doing. Social media marketing was a new term and the vast majority of people and businesses (including major league corporations) had no clue what to do with these platforms. I remember the first ads I ran on Facebook. Back then ads were approved instantly and costs were ridiculously low. Just like in the good old days of email marketing, everybody on Facebook was clicking on your ads to find out more about this new feature along with whatever you were offering. Early Internet marketers were mostly running ads for free e-books you could download from a website you were sent to. It was a simple and straightforward marketing approach that worked seamlessly. Then greed kicked in and what used to be a peaceful place to gather with loved ones and like-minded people, turned into an ugly spot that reminds us of certain behaviors and characters humanity had rather not made acquaintance with. Here we are today, as more and more people awaken to the illusion of this 3D-game, which is designed so perfectly that it tricks even our most advanced spiritual teachers into believing it’s true. For those of us who decided to go all in and up our level of consciousness in order to play this game to our utmost capabilities, we are now faced with incredible challenges. Those who think they can control this amazingly designed game by enslaving the entire planet will most likely encounter some cataclysmic surprises. That being said, let’s leave the spiritual playfield for a moment and discuss a few tangible marketing solutions to assist your transition from centralized to decentralized marketing networks. Blockchain – The New Marketing Disruptor LBRY, Odysee, Minds, Flote, Presearch … None of these brands and companies are a household name. Remember, two decades ago, the same was true for Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The blockchain technology that underpins Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and all the other cryptocurrencies is already changing the way we do marketing and promote our businesses. The biggest difference between the centralized social networks and the above-mentioned decentralized blockchain-based alternatives is that these companies reward users for using their product, instead of gathering questionable personal data and selling them to 3rd party corporations and even government entities. So, knowing all these highly unpleasant and disturbing facts about Facebook and Co., why do you think I still suggest that you haven’t wasted your time on social media? I’ve been running ads on the Facebook ecosystem since 2011. I educated hundreds of students in my live courses and workshops on how to run profitable ads on Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. I created the Academy where I taught students how to up their game so that they can get the most for their buck when advertising on these social platforms. Don’t you think I learned quite a few things about targeting, copywriting, design, call-to-action, network interoperability etc. that I can immediately apply to blockchain advertising? You bet I can. Actually it makes things super easy, as these platforms are still in their early stages while Facebook’s advertising product is a behemoth in terms of complexity, structure and data points compared to them. For you specifically this means the following: If you have run ads on any of these platformsIf you have done follow management on say TwitterIf you have worked on improving your copywriting skillsIf you have learned to shoot and edit quality videos and audiosIf you have engaged in any kind of social media marketing activities You most definitely can take ALL that knowledge and apply it one-to-one to the decentralized marketing networks based on blockchain technology. The only thing I’d encourage you to do is to stay humble, be open to learning new things and more importantly, to be willing to engage in marketing activities that are created for humans not some stupid machines and their algorithms. Where to Go When Centralized Social Media Kicks You Off Their Platform
Facebook, YouTube and Twitter seem to be on a crusade. The sheer number of accounts being banned has reached a level of ridicule that only zombies aren’t able to comprehend. The centralized social media ecosystem has polarized society and awaken a lot of people who previously trusted a narrative that is becoming increasingly difficult to sustain. While there are certain methods to get your Facebook advertising account back on track — for example by verifying your business and domain inside the Business Manager, this is not a guarantee. You’re still at the mercy of someone having a good or bad day in the office, if you’re lucky enough, as in most cases this job is outsourced to some stupid machine that decides on your faith. Most likely though, this desperate approach will end up in feeding the Silicon Valley beast with even more personal data and getting a ‘giant nothing’ for you in return. We can’t ignore the fact that centralized social media platforms have become modern goldmines of personal data. Here are some of the precious information AI is glad to analyze and categorize so that it can later change your perception and even trigger certain behaviors that may not be in your best interest: Who you like, what you dislikeYour political, social and environmental viewsWhether you agree or disagree with the mainstream narrativeYour interests, hobbies and preferences (even sexual)What your food choices areYour health issuesEtc. Feel free to add to this list based on the type of ads you’re being served across platforms and the information that is displayed in your news feed. Blockchain Based Decentralized Alternatives to Centralized Social Media Unless you’ve been living under a rock, it’s hard to imagine you not being exposed, directly or indirectly, to the shenanigans that are currently going on across all the major centralized social media networks. There isn’t an individual or industry considered immune any longer. If you raise your voice and share an opinion that doesn’t coincide with the mainstream narrative, you’re doomed to being blocked, banned or de-platformed. Amongst the first to come under the gunfire of these technocrats were independent journalists, followed by doctors and medical professionals who share alternative views. Today, even a farmer can be banned simply because he raises a supply chain issue that might lead to serious problems in distributing food. As this topic is often considered “sensitive”, it can lead to censorship. We’ve certainly come a long way. What started out as a supposedly genuine social experiment has absolutely nothing to do with social and human generosity anymore. Before I share a few alternative decentralized blockchain social platforms that you can move to in case you get de-monetized and de-platformed from big tech, I highly suggest you use these networks even if you haven’t been banned from YouTube, Facebook and Co. Some of these platforms have already consolidated their presence by onboarding major players from across industries and ecosystems. You might be surprised that video views on one of these blockchain-based networks I’ll mention below have become incredibly close to numbers you’re used to seeing on YouTube. 1. LBRY / Odysee Let’s start with a proper YouTube alternative. If you’re missing your favorite journalist or content creator that was banned from YouTube due to his / her “non-mainstream” spin on current events, then I’m pretty sure you’ll find this person on LBRY and Odysee, respectively. The cool thing about this blockchain-based decentralized network is the fact that you can upload your videos to LBRY first and use this source to redistribute to other channels including YouTube. 2. Minds Minds is a blockchain-based decentralized social media platform that hasn’t gained proper traction yet, although they have a pretty neat product similar to Facebook. You can create your own channel, access your Newsfeed and use Discovery to find trending topics or content based on specific hashtags just like you would on Instagram. Furthermore, you can join groups that cover topics of interest to you or build your own group of like-minded individuals. More importantly, you can use your Minds token (native cryptocurrency) to run ads across the platform. The ads are super easy to set up and they remind me of Facebook’s early ad product back in 2011. Flote Flote.app is a decentralized, censorship-resistant social network with a clear focus on privacy and free speech. You can livestream or publish videos, images, audio and articles. Every account comes with an easy-to-use crypto wallet. You can use this money to subscribe to exclusive content provided by your favorite creators or get tips for valuable information that you share personally. Encrypted messaging is also included thus making the platform more robust. If you’re interested in people who have left the Zuck & Co. social networks, simply type the hashtag #JumpingShip. 4. Gab You’re addicted to Twitter and don’t know what to replace it with? Gab might be an interesting option to look into. It’s not a blockchain-based decentralized platform, however it’s a mecca for free speech. This obviously has its downturns as you’ll come across people who unfortunately misuse this open policy to promote hate and aggression but overall it’s a nice network that is gaining traction as users are forced to leave Twitter for example. 5. Twetch Twetch is the new star on the horizon. It’s a decentralized blockchain-based alternative to Twitter. The founders implemented an interesting twist into using the network, by requiring your haters to pay you if they want to interact with you. So instead of blocking your trolls, you can make it really expensive for them to comment on your posts. One more thing that will keep most trolls away is the fact that users need to pay a small fee to upload information to the blockchain. Basically, you need to pay if you want to play on Twetch. Better Prepared Than Sorry! I’ve experienced the censorship from big tech firsthand through clients of mine who are medical professionals. They had the guts to question several Big Pharma narratives around chronic diseases while sharing their honest views and opinions on how to better tackle things by combining alternative paths to improve health and wellbeing for humanity. As we all know, things get really dirty once big money is involved. Just like the oil business, Wall Street or the food industry, a few companies rule the medical space. If you interfere and endanger their profits, you’ll face an ugly punishment. Instead of relying on these centralized social media giants to allow you to operate on their platforms according to some random rules that are always changing, you’d be well advised to set up your valuable ecosystem on the decentralized blockchain where no entity can censor what you have to say. Don’t allow Zuckerberg, Dorsey & Co. to gain control over your business and livelihood. Use their social networks as long as you can without compromising on your values and giving up free speech. And if they decide to suspend and delete your account, so be it. Back up your valuable content on the above-mentioned decentralized, censorship-resistant blockchain-based networks and be prepared to leave Facebook-land when your time has come. Why Going Back to the Carrot Factory is Not an Option
Fear, acquiescence, greed and shame are all vital elements of the program. Love, creativity, caring and empathy on the other hand are clear signs of you attempting to leave the all encompassing cube thus enabling you to take a sneak peek into the control room of the matrix. It’s similar to entrepreneurship AKA having your own business: once you experience the tremendous upside and freedom that comes with it, you’ll do whatever it takes to never have to cross the front doors of that carrot factory again. ‘Working for the man’ is still in. Although the label has lost its “safe” feature in the last decades, it remains a colorful harbor for ships that fear big waves, deep waters and the darkness that comes with uncertainty and the unknown. There’s nothing wrong with joining a team that shares the same values you do, provides the public with amazing products and services and thrives towards the greater good. However, choosing to work for a company driven by fear is like riding the carousel feeling dizzy and puking all the time. No wonder these individuals end up filled with lots of regret. It’s definitely not a spot you want to be in. Robots Will Replace Carrot Factory Workers You are not a puppet. Your purpose in life is not and has never been that of executing somebody else’s plan. Let robots and AI do all that work. Your job as a human being is to tap into the infinite field of energy and creativity so that you can build something extraordinary while having this fascinating experience on Earth. People ask me why I started writing more about mindset instead of sharing marketing tips and strategies. My answer to that is very simple: You know enough tips, techniques and what not. There is an abundance of marketing information that is being shared by experts with all kinds of backgrounds and experiences. However, that is not why you’re stuck or are not being labeled “successful” by conventional wisdom. What you lack though is fundamentals. In order to thrive in today’s world and build a strong fortress you need to develop unbreakable self-confidence and self-esteem among other things. One of those core pillars is mindset. Your mental stamina will determine whether you make it during these challenging times or not. Nobody is coming to save you. Therefore the sooner you wake up from the trance the better. Robots will take over many of the jobs we’ve been used to doing ourselves for decades. It’s just a question of time and part of our evolution. Therefore your main focus should be on what it is that you can do better, more efficient or different than the vast majority of people and more importantly, how can you best deploy the unique talents you were equipped with when you arrived on this planet. It’s not the time to dwell on the past. What’s gone is gone. It’s this moment that counts. What can you do, learn and apply today in order to accomplish your future goals and dreams. For those of you desperately looking for tactics, I’ve got one for you: Dip your toes into blockchain marketing because it’s where we’re heading. Look into the decentralized part of the blockchain ecosystem as Amazon, Facebook, Google and Co. will most definitely captivate the centralized one. Yes, the program wants you to believe the exact opposite. Yes, your mind has been hijacked by handing the control tower over to the reptilian brain, which is powered by fear and angst. Here’s the good news though: You can regain control by increasing your vibrational frequency. How? By doing the exact opposite of what mainstream science, media and the establishment want you to do. Why do you think you have a heart? Why is the heart’s electrical field 60 times stronger in amplitude than the electrical activity generated by the brain? Do you really think it’s a coincidence that they are located in your central operating system AKA your heart? Unity. Love. Gratitude. Compassion. Empathy. Unlike the mainstream narrative that wants you to believe that your main operating system is in your mind, the exact opposite is the truth. And you know it. You feel it. Something inside of you tells you that it all comes from the heart. Turn off the TV, get out into nature and once you empty your mind and the signals from your reptilian brain become insignificant, you’ll be able to get a glimpse into your inner power. Tap into that as often as possible because this is the only source you can rely on. It’s your heart. Unlike your mind, your heart will never send you encrypted and distorted messages. It will speak and transmit to you the truth whether you like it or not. This reminds me of one of the many valuable lessons I learned from my mentor and marketing legend Dan Kennedy. I don’t remember whether he himself learned this from Earl Nightingale or not but in essence it goes like this: “If everyone is heading into one direction, go the opposite way. Chances are you’ll end up on the right path.” Stop acquiescing. Stop adhering to the herd mentality. You’re not a freaking sheep. You are infinite intelligence having an experience on planet Earth. Get off your knees. Man up AKA woman up. The program has enough energy batteries wondering around clueless shoeless behaving like zombies, adhering to stupid rules and waiting for orders from psychopaths that are carefully carried out by maniacs. We come to this planet equipped with unique capabilities and talents. Don’t waste them. Rather lift your frequency and leave the matrix. Life outside the box AKA the cube is peaceful and full of love. Let the robots go to the carrot factory while you focus your creative energy on what makes you human. Why You Need to Make Uncertainty Your Best Friend
Uncertainty … If you’re afraid of it, it will numb you. If you’re running away from it, it will hunt you down. Change the way you perceive it and you’ll live on your terms. Learning to become familiar with the unknown is one of the most precious lessons that you can take away from life. The process starts inside of you, although the nudges will most likely come from the outside world. Coziness is what’s causing nausea and sleepiness, stepping into the unknown on the other hand forces you to transform, grow and evolve. In business, the concept of survival of the fittest is long overdue. Vulnerability, empathy, purpose and meaning wrapped up in profits and growth is what enables you to inspire and lead a team of visionaries who will gratefully work together with you to build a sustainable enterprise. The “Let’s dominate!” mentality might have been a great business model in the past but we all know and feel that this is not going to work in the emerging quantum economy. We’ve entered the realms of a new era, which requires an entirely new way of thinking and dealing with worldwide issues – whether they are of monetary, social or cultural nature. Leading Through Chaos and Uncertainty Old thinking patterns and business models are crumbling, paving the way for new approaches. We are living through challenging times and the years to come will once again show how adaptable and resilient the human species is. We tend to hold on to the old because it’s familiar, comfortable, cozy and certain. Many people perceive new things as scary and uncomfortable, yet deep down inside they know that they’ll need to pivot and adapt in order to thrive. Those who refuse to change, are left behind. Although various systems have been set up to support as many people as possible, some folks will deliberately remain on the sinking ship. This has nothing to do with technology or a matrix setup by certain special entities; it’s about choice. Your choice, my choice, our choice as a collective. We see and experience businesses being shattered left, right and center. Size doesn’t matter. Entire industries are facing extinction and livelihoods are being destroyed. The banking system is at the verge of collapse and what used to set Western democracies apart is turning into a meme. We can’t sustain the current state of the economy. It’s become obvious that we can’t go on acting as if nothing has happened, forcing the money printer to go “brrrr” and hoping to get back to business as usual. We’ve played that game long enough and time has run up. We’re forced to change and we need to do it fast. The hope strategy we have deployed over the past decades has only made things worse. “In order for us to create something new in our lives, we have to leave behind a portion of the known and familiar. This includes familiar thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and sometimes even relationships. For most people, leaving behind the illusory security of the known and stepping into the unknown can be a terrifying place. This is why change is so hard.” – Dr. Joe Dispenza Embrace the Unknown or … What comes next? Blockchain economy? Quantum economy? XYZ economy? Honestly, the terminology doesn’t matter. What matters though is how quickly you pivot so that you can provide for your loved ones and continue to live the life that you want and dreamed of. I’d like to share with you a strategy that I’ve been deploying since adulthood to help me win different sport tournaments and later in life, various business endeavors: Put time aside to think! Schedule time to think. Put it in your calendar. Start with one hour per week and increase the number of hours as you go along. Make it a habit to think and don’t let anything or anybody interrupt you when you’re at it. Why is this important? First of all, you’ll learn to listen to your inner voice, that innate intuition that you’ve ignored for far too many years. Second, you won’t be subject to all the external influence, meaning you won’t mutate to a puppet that can be easily pushed and moved around as somebody sees fit. Third, you’ll train your brain to partner up with you and help you navigate in troublesome waters. Fourth, you’ll learn to calm yourself thus enabling you to focus your power and energy to create the future that you want, instead of dwelling on what happened in your past. Nurture your thoughts and enjoy watching the supposedly random waves collapse in front of your very eyes. Marketing Beyond the Age of Data Monarchy Emperors
What’s the world’s most valuable resource? It used to be oil and gold. Today it’s data. Those who own vast amounts of data and more importantly, know how to analyze and interpret it, rule the world. Data is the oil of the digital era. When Gutenberg invented the printing machine and common people gained access to the written word, society was about to change forever. With the help of technology, we are now able to carry hundreds of books on a little device, watch movies and share information with a click of a button. The attention seekers and mind hijackers have become more sophisticated in their approach. They deploy the same old marketing techniques wrapped in fancy applications designed to influence your perceptions in order to make the illusion perfect. It works brilliantly. Imagine a handful of companies sending out free invites to their parties and billions flocking to these virtual laboratories where they can entertain their fantasies, express their deepest fears, desires and secrets only to be part of a very peculiar social experiment with a diabolic level of addiction. Welcome to today’s game run by big tech CEOs. Are you enjoying the perks of these centralized social media networks? Do you love the “selected” content you’re exposed to on a daily basis? How about those relevant, highly targeted and intrusive ads that make you question the kind of information these providers have amassed about you? Actually, things haven’t changed at all since the early days when it comes to control. What has changed though, is the front line. Today, the data monarchy emperors have their royal palaces in Silicon Valley (Facebook, Google, Apple) and Seattle (Amazon, Microsoft). Obviously, the main show is still run from Windsor, Davos & Co. but you get the point. Social Media Marketing Dystopia Does the old marketing adage “If you can get into people’s hearts, you can probably get into their wallets” still apply? Yes and no. The old way of doing marketing as in telling an appealing story, captivating attention quickly and triggering a particular audience’s feelings and emotions is still valid. However, all this effort isn’t necessary when you have access to vast amounts of behavioral data. You can increase order and customer lifetime value by using a lighter marketing version of the above. Often you will be able to generate an additional purchase with a simple sentence such as “frequently bought together” or “people with similar interests have bought these items”. Internalizing everything we know so far, what should be your next steps? Does leaving all these centralized social media platforms make sense? First of all, if privacy is a real concern of yours, then limit the type of information you post AKA be super aware when you share something. Have a crystal clear strategy as to whether you’re going to post personal stuff or stick to business exclusively. Second, look into the newly emerging decentralized, censorship-resistant social platforms on the blockchain such as LBRY, Minds and Bitchute. Third, mix and match if that is something you can live with. Otherwise, burn the boats and leave that which isn’t in sync with your values in life. Ultimately, the most valuable strategy is the one that works best for you. Some might find great success in uploading their videos to YouTube and distributing that link across networks. Others will opt for LBRY first and route everything from a decentralized platform. You might as well be very comfortable with running Facebook and Instagram ads as the majority of your audience spends vast amounts of time on these channels while also attracting a more sophisticated clientele from Flote, Minds or even the newly released Twetch (similar to Twitter but you need to pay in order to play). The Web 3.0 Hype Semantic web and artificial intelligence are the cornerstones of web 3.0. Simply put, the semantic web teaches the computer what the data means thus empowering AI to better utilize that information. The promised result is a greater connectivity between data. There are two additional features that come along with web 3.0: 3D graphics AKA a more realistic three-dimensional cyberworld AND omnipresence, meaning accessible everywhere at any time. The ultimate goal is the so-called “Internet of Things” where everything is connected. We’re not there yet but we’re moving slowly and steadily towards a new world that will change human interaction just like it did when we first got access to the Internet. Do you see the value of the resource called DATA? If you think a handful of Silicon Valley tech tycoons are powerful today, guess what role they’ll be playing in the future? Sounds scary? Technology shouldn’t be scary. What should scare you though is when there are no legal contracts and regulations in place to protect you from those who use these technologies and the data you provided them with to harm innocent people. Will history repeat again, as in: will a few keep controlling the many? We’ll see how that plays out — rather sooner than later. Are You Paying Attention to Your Sidewalk?
Great books help you change your perspective on life. They provide you with insights, arouse your levels of curiosity and sometimes drag you down different rabbit holes, which you wouldn’t have dared to imagine they existed. On my quest to quenching my thirst and broadening my knowledge for spirituality, I came across an absolutely amazing poem that I’d like to share with you. It goes like this: There’s a Hole in My Sidewalk: The Romance of Self-Discovery by Portia Nelson “I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. I am lost. I am helpless. It isn’t my fault. It takes forever to find a way out. *** I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I still don’t see it. I fall in again. I can’t believe I am in the same place. It isn’t my fault. It still takes a long time to get out. *** I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I see it there, I still fall in. It’s habit. It’s my fault. I know where I am. I get out immediately. *** I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it. *** I walk down a different street.“ The Power of Responsibility We live in challenging times and a lot of people are falling victim to mental health disorders and diseases. Psychiatrists are booked for months and years ahead while seemingly more and more people turn to outside factors to get help. Challenging times call for clear heads, value-driven priorities, creativity, better collaboration and bold decisions. Humans have forgotten how powerful they are. We’ve been conditioned over the years to look for extrinsic, often materialistic things that make us feel worthy, valuable, loving or happy. After the Second World War the ‘program’ has become more intrusive and indistinguishable, cleverly designed to hijack our subconscious mind and move us into doing things without thinking clearly. The media and advertising companies along with fellow marketing consultants have done an excellent job to indoctrinate the human soul and further the illusion of separateness. Individuality especially in Western societies has been put on a pedestal, turning once loving communities into empty entities made up of characters running shoeless, clueless in a society that has lost connection to the greater good and the all-encompassing source of light. It’s time to take your power back. Turn off your TV, leave the phone on your desk and get out into nature. Get back control over your life and more importantly, your thoughts. Pay close attention to the inner chatter as it will highlight the things you’ve become so addicted to. As you start listening to your inner voice and distance yourself from the outer world, you will notice a lot of strange things about yourself. It’s a process. Don’t be harsh on yourself. Years of junk and cluttered thoughts take a bit of time to unwind. Be patient. True healing always comes from the inside. You’re always one decision away from feeling fulfilled and in control of your life. No drug on this planet can give you that high. No government can give you that feeling of safety and security you can give yourself by regaining trust into your inner strength. No external factors, remedies, doctors, mentors, etc. can give you inner peace. It’s something you give to yourself. You accomplish all this by taking full responsibility. This in turn enables you to navigate the most dangerous waters and more importantly, it allows you to enjoy the game on this planet. Humans or Machines: Whom Do You Create Your Content For?
What once started out as a seemingly smooth and innocent journey is slowly but surely turning into a nightmare for many content creators. Censorship, centralization, control – are we really heading into the right direction? Do you feel at ease with robots and AI picking articles, videos, music clips, products and promotions considered appropriate for you based on specific algorithms? What are the alternatives? The world has changed and we’re never going to go back to the way we lived our lives before these troublesome events that are currently shaking up planet Earth’s habitants. We are at the crossroads and every single one of us needs to wake up and make wise decisions. No more kicking the can down the road hoping for the good old times to return. The last weeks and months have shown the flaws in the system. When it comes to the marketing field, especially the social media realm, we’ve experienced several nasty breakups. Quite a few Ivy League video content creators were banned from YouTube with Facebook and Twitter following suit. One way or another, you’ve discovered that if your message isn’t in sync with the mainstream narrative, you’re doomed to being expunged from all these traditional media platforms. “Oh, I’m not worried about these centralized platforms. I have my own domain and can do whatever I want”. Really? Is that what you think? What do you do when Google ‘declassifies’ your website and you end up losing 90% or more of your traffic? What if GoDaddy or some other XYZ host decides to block your domain? Are you still feeling bullish and confident about the fact that YOU’re in charge of the game AKA you’re the one running the show online? I guess not. How to Get Your Power Back as a Content Creator What I’ve seen happen in these past weeks and months has raised some serious questions. We, the people, were the ones that enabled all these Silicon Valley companies gain tremendous power over our lives, minds and souls. Just as we gave them our power, we can also take it back. So, how can you get off of these controlled platforms and build a community of like-minded fellow humans without giving up the fuzzy tech features you’ve become so accustomed to? There are alternative paths and I’m really happy to see more and more people embark on these new adventures, as things on FAAMG get exponentially crazy. What if I tell you that you can become the landlord AKA own your domain and be certain that nobody can take your website down? Goodbye Google algorithms. No more obsessing over SEO, SEM, indexing or some other paradigm that forces you to navigate inside a predetermined system. Welcome to the borderless, universally accessible and censorship-resistant world of BLOCKCHAIN. “Not your keys, not your coins” Once you embark on the blockchain journey you’ll be bombarded with buzzwords that I guarantee will make your head spin. Here are some examples: Stablecoins, altcoins, decentralized finance (DeFi), decentralized exchange (DEX), smart contracts, nodes and masternodes, cross chain communications, Proof of Stake (PoS), Proof of Work (PoW), on-chain, off-chain, oracle gateway, bridge (protocol) etc. To loosen up things a bit and take the fear out of entering this quite techy world, let me start the blockchain journey by introducing you to the popular crypto proverb “Not your keys, not your coins” which will guide us in decisions for future platforms. In short: To be the landlord AKA the master, you need to hold the keys. When you purchase a domain on GoDaddy for example, you don’t hold the keys to the vault, GoDaddy does. When you sign up on Facebook, Twitter and Co., these centralized giants decide whether you can join the game, how long you can play the game and when it’s time for you to leave the game. They do it because they hold the keys and you don’t. If you transition to blockchain and keep playing the same game you used to play before, meaning you hand your coins over to a centralized exchange of the likes of Binance, Coinbase or Gemini for example, then you haven’t learned much in the process. However, if you put your coins into a private wallet where you’re the only one in possession of the keys (password and seed phrase), then you’re the master and nobody can take those coins away from you without your permission. Sidenote: I will not go into the details regarding losing your password and seed phrase, buying the ‘wrong’ coins, downloading a wallet from a scam site etc. Decentralized, Censorship Free Platforms for Savvy Content Creators After you’ve realized that you can take your power back, it’s time to migrate, baby. Yes, you can keep your profiles and posts on the controlled platforms AND at the same time you can start uploading your valuable content to the blockchain. Here are four platforms that have gained a lot of traction in the past months and meet the criteria we’re looking for, namely decentralization and censorship-resistance: MindsLBRYBitChuteFlote If you want to learn more about Minds, I suggest you read my previous blog post entitled WHY BOTHER WITH BLOCKCHAIN SOCIAL ADS? For those of you who want to step up this game, I recommend you purchase a crypto domain and move your entire content onto the blockchain. You can either use an existing template that’s being offered by the provider or if you’re more tech-savvy, you can set up your own IPFS. As I like walking the walk, I’ll provide you with two of my own examples: For kriszrokk.crypto I used an existing template.For strengthinbusiness.crypto I uploaded my IPFS. I purchased my domains from Unstoppable Domains (attn.: affiliate link). As Google isn’t indexing blockchain-based websites (yet!), I suggest you download the Unstoppable Browser to view the sites or use the Unstoppable Chrome extension. Finishing Strong I love to create content for humans. Machines such as the Yoast SEO plugin are still integrated into my WordPress site, however I’m not relying on these tools anymore. I use them for general guidance and that might very well change in the near future. Recently I have deleted Google Analytics, the Google Tag Manager and my Facebook pixel from this website. Once I’ve discovered a social sharing plugin that includes the above-mentioned decentralized, censorship free blockchain social media platforms, the common Facebook, Twitter & Co. sharing buttons will also vanish from my website. Why Bother with Blockchain Social Ads?
Do you trust the traditional social media networks and their advertising policies? What if they stop liking your content and your ad account gets banned? Guess what? You don’t have to put up with it. There are some amazing alternatives on the horizon. Let me introduce you to blockchain social ads. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter & Co. started out as true social community networks. However, today, with the level of censorship on the rise, legit businesses all over the world are forced to leave the platforms they’ve put their souls into as well as vast amounts of time, money and effort in over the past years. As I mentioned in my previous blog post “When You Hand Your Power Over to Social Media Tech Giants”, Brian Rose’s high-quality podcast show LondonReal was banned from several traditional social media platforms because he had the guts to interview people with different opinions and perspectives which don’t necessarily coincide with what we’re being fed on these platforms day in and day out. Ultimately this led to Brian setting up his Digital Freedom Platform where you can watch all his interviews uncensored and in full length. On the Lookout for Social Media Advertising Alternatives Why should somebody like me look into alternatives such as blockchain social ads when I have a strong and successful Facebook advertising history? Why should somebody with a Social Advertising Academy who runs worldwide workshops, seminars and live events on how to run profitable ads on Facebook and Instagram transition to other channels? Here’s my one-word answer to that: MISTRUST. These networks are a part of my business but they’re not my foundation. The platform uses Minds tokens thus allowing users to monetize their content through a peer-driven, incentive-based reward system that integrates natively. Once you sign up for your own Minds account, you’ll find it super easy to navigate as it resembles the core layout and features of Facebook. You have your own page, you can scroll through your newsfeed or use “Discovery” to find interesting topics and creators, similar to Instagram’s Explore page. You can create your own group or join an existing one. You can send messages, a feature that resembles Facebook Messenger. In terms of advertising, you can buy tokens or use the ones you received in your Off-Chain wallet. Placements, on which you can run your ads include the Newsfeed, the Sidebar and Offers. While in the Newsfeed you can boost both native blogs and shared content, when you select the Sidebar you can only promote your channel and your native blogs on Minds. FAIR WARNING: Don’t expect the level of sophistication you’re used to seeing and working with on Facebook. Minds’ advertising product is still in its early stages but it looks very promising to me. It kind of reminds me of Facebook’s Ads Manager back in 2011. Exciting Times Ahead This decade will be very interesting and challenging to say the least. Our financial system is stretched to the max, environmental issues force us to rethink production and waste management while whole industries are set to go down entirely if we don’t pivot quickly. It’s never been more vital to be adaptable. This is where years of practice and your investment in personal and spiritual growth come to rescue. Those without training and mental resilience will face great difficulties. If you’ve run ads on the traditional social media platforms before, you can transition to blockchain social advertising more smoothly. Experience and knowledge pays out. Don’t fall into the mental trap thinking that all those years you put into Facebook or YouTube ads are wasted. They’re not; not if you embrace change and pivot with confidence. When You Hand Your Power Over to Social Media Tech Giants
Putting all your eggs in one basket can be disastrous. Handing over your entire marketing power to a handful of social media platforms can very well ruin your business. On the other hand, scattering your energy, money, time and other resources all over the place isn’t the smartest strategy either. The world seems upside down these days. Businesses driven mainly by offline only activities are forced to look into different ways and strategies to quickly move into the online realm so that they can preserve their livelihoods. Then you have those who were able to pivot quickly and intensify their online efforts thus enabling them to do well and even thrive in this challenging environment. However, not all of the online marketing efforts were equivalent to the icing on the cake. Some ecommerce businesses were forced to open new online stores using Shopify, WooCommerce, Magenta etc. and move significant chunks of their sales away from Amazon, as Seattle’s big tech giant wasn’t able to fulfill and deliver orders on time which had a negative impact on the entire business. Many saw not just their sales drop but also their reputation partially destroyed. While ecomm business owners were awakening to their over-dependency on Amazon, certain service and information providers were experiencing troublesome restrictions on major social media platforms. It came to me as a big, unpleasant surprise, to find out that Brian Rose’s high quality podcast show LondonReal was banned from Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox and other social platforms. Brian has been streaming and delivering top notch interviews with high-caliber guests such as Dan Pena, Robert Kiyosaki, Grant Cardone, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Marianne Williamson, Gary Vaynerchuk, Marisa Peer, Teeka Tiwari just to name a few of them – for over nine consecutive years. And then, one day, he did this interview with David Icke, who btw was a recurring guest on the show and got banned without prior notice and without being informed about what he did wrong, from all of the above-mentioned social media channels. When You Turn Your Power Over to Social Media Networks What does this behavior from FAAMG signal to you and me? For those of you, who’re not familiar with the FAAMG term: it’s an abbreviation coined by Goldman Sachs and it stands for the top five tech companies Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, and Alphabet’s Google. [Source: Investopedia] To me, this behavior is not entirely new. Those of you who’ve been following me or maybe attended one of my workshops or live events, know that I’ve been running Facebook ads since 2011. To say that running ads on Facebook’s platforms (including Instagram and Messenger) for all these years has been a crazy ride would be an understatement. I’m very familiar with the fact that Facebook can disapprove and disable your ads anytime, totally out of the blue or even ban your advertising account anyway they see fit. They do it without prior notice, even if you’ve been partnering up with them for several years and spending large amounts of money to not only put your valuable information and products in front of your ideal audience but also provide the Silicon Valley tech giant with revenue. Facebook has long forgotten the fact that they were built on the backbone of small business owners. Corporations were last to join the advertising party. I vividly remember while working at Coca-Cola a decade ago that Facebook was considered a no name and deemed non-essential for business and even ridiculed for their advertising product. Facebook, Amazon, Google, Apple, Twitter, Pinterest, you name it, have gained tremendous power over the last few years. People like us have given them a lot of power by using these apps day in and day out. Business owners have poured vast amounts of money, time and energy into these channels thus enabling them to dominate way beyond the marketing space. Today, these tech giants control almost everything that we do, as scary as this may sound. What should you do next if you realize that you’ve become over-dependent and over-reliant on these social media channels? Just like I highlighted in my article Multiple Beats One: Never Rely On One Marketing Channel, I encourage you to step up your game and regain control over your marketing activities as fast as possible. This translates into you activating other marketing channels, whether they are online or offline. The richer your marketing bouquet, the better you’ll be equipped for tough times. Plus you never know, when Zuckerberg & Co. decide to ban you from their platform for whatever ridiculous reason. It’s their right as it’s their platform. Remember to never build your house on somebody else’s land. And if for whatever reason, you have your entire business generating income from social media alone, you might want to consider building a new foundation, one that you control. One that you can move and restructure anytime you choose fit. Don’t Let Facebook, YouTube, Twitter & Co. Dictate And Control Your Business Just to be clear, I’m not against using social media to promote your valuable products and services. What I consider dangerous though is over-relying on these tech companies, their platforms and policies. I think the new emerging blockchain technologies will enable business owners to host their websites, upload videos and stream live TV shows on decentralized entities that give us control back. Until this evolution hits mainstream, we’ll need to diversify and use as many marketing channels as possible to interact with our ideal audience, build communities and form strong human connections. It’s never been more important to create independent environments where we can navigate more freely and creatively to build meaningful relationships. LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter & Co. used to be interesting places for people to connect, however, as we evolve and become more awaken and conscious to what’s really happening behind the curtains, it’s time to embrace a new reality and conquer new emerging digital / non-digital territories with more confidence. When You Dare to Be Original in Life
Fear, anxiety, frustration, anger, disbelief… We get stuck in all these negative emotions and have difficulties interrupting the patterns as well as quieting the mind so that we can enjoy this journey we’re on. Why follow the herd mind when you can liberate yourself from these emotions and reclaim your power? Why not dare to be original again? We’re so afraid to be ourselves. We look for comfort in certain brands and products trying to escape from dealing with the most important person on this planet. When something doesn’t feel right on the inside, we blame outside factors trying to fix whatever is in our reach to eventually realize that it all stems from within us. The numbing strategy is our favorite weapon. It used to be alcohol, caffeine and cigarettes, then we evolved to drugs and pills. Today, as we consider ourselves more sophisticated and tech-savvy, we’ve embraced the perfect tool: smartphones. A few days ago I heard a statement from the well-renowned neuroscientist Dr. Joe Dispenza (@drjoedispenza) that really hit home. He said something along the following lines: Somebody (or something) very clever hid the most important wisdom inside of us, as he/she/it would anticipate that we would most likely spend our entire lives desperately looking for it outside of us. I’m not a religious person and I don’t subscribe to any of the new age stuff that isn’t backed by science and common sense. But the core concept unveiled in this statement feels very real. I very much believe in uniqueness and the power each one of us has inside. Children, who haven’t yet assimilated the programs we feed them on a daily basis, are a perfect example for this. As the analytical mind starts to develop and drain information from the subconscious, originality fades away and duality gains traction. The battle between you listening to your own intuition and adhering to the collective behavior is on. It’s a battle that you’ll fight your entire life if you don’t make a deliberate decision to take back control. Why wait for some kind of disease, loss or trauma to knock on your door and force you to ask the hard questions in life? Why not stay awake, observe the program and redirect your attention AKA focus your energy to what matters most to you? Translated into business, I’m mesmerized by the sheer amount of business owners and professionals who are buying into the ‘entrepreneurial DNA’ story that is often promulgated on social media thus letting the external world dictate their behaviors, feelings and actions to the detriment of their own mental, emotional and physical health, their self-respect and wellbeing. Challenging times call for inner strength. This is the moment of truth. What you’ve fed your mind and body for years on end comes to the surface without filters or a cheering crowd. Have you nourished your garden or did you let the weeds take over? You can no longer rely on politics and frameworks to navigate uncertainty. You can’t expect your customers and tax advisor to fix your income state. The doctor is trapped in helping the extreme cases and environmental issues fade into the background. What’s your next move? Come on, you’re an entrepreneur, aren’t you? You’ve planned for this, haven’t you? You’ll be surprised how many people default into panic and numbness. All these years you’ve been focusing on the outside and now that inner chatter overrules everything. All there’s left is you, your mind and body. It’s that moment when you have to recall your inner power and resources. What skills can you deploy? What experiences and knowledge have you been hiding from the world? It’s time to activate all of these miraculous gifts that lie dormant in you. Tap into your playfulness and curiosity. Let that inner child communicate with you. Dare to be original again. Listen to different opinions and experts with opposing perspectives but ultimately, activate your thinking brain and make conscious decisions. Give things in your industry a spin, embrace your own touch and style and find the audience that resonates with that. Awakening the Dragon There is a dragon waiting to be awakened in every single one of us. Some people rush through life, never taking the time to properly get to know themselves. This leads them to never follow their inner calling thus leaving dreams unfulfilled. Leave that group; better yet, never join it. Don’t let fear stop you from living a meaningful and fulfilled life. Awaken the dragon inside of you and use that power to accomplish astonishing things. Become the designer of your own life and when things don’t go the way you want, try to find the river that flows. There’s always a solution to your problems, there’s always another path you haven’t considered yet. Come up with your own definition of success. It might be taking care of three wonderful children and working part-time at a surfboard shop, having to run a small family business or becoming a well-renowned neurosurgeon. Forget all the success formulas, checklists and hacks. Create your own life recipe and let the fire of your inner dragon guide you to a miraculous life beyond your wildest dreams. Ditching Offline Marketing to Run Facebook Ads
Facebook Ads are super powerful; there’s no doubt about that. If you add Instagram and Messenger ads to the equation, chances are you’ll reach a vast amount of your ideal audience for pennies on the dollar. Obviously, that’s about to change in a couple of years when big business finally decides to pour a higher percentage of their media AKA ad budgets into social. At the beginning of this year, I ran several intensive Facebook advertising workshops in London (UK) where once again I had the amazing opportunity to help and connect with business owners and marketing professionals from different industries. Whereas some attendees used the event to familiarize themselves with the way Facebook and Instagram ads could help them leave their current jobs and join the entrepreneurial journey, others came in with a clear intention to take their social advertising skills to the next level. Some of the marketing professionals from well-renowned financial institutions and corporations such as Amazon, Google or Deutsche Bank reminded me of my own journey. I started running Facebook ads back in 2011 and it was one of the skill sets that helped me leave the corporate world and propel my own business. Therefore, I very much understood their concerns and emotions in regards to leaving a so-called ‘safe haven’ to embark onto the unknown. What struck me though was another group of attendees. It was a few of the business owners who at some point decided to ditch all their other offline marketing activities — such as for example: referral systems, distributing sales folders to local gas stations, stores or schools, and redirect all their money and energy into running ads on Facebook and Instagram. Why would a business owner pour all his/her money into social advertising to the detriment of say word-of-mouth marketing that’s making up 80% or more of their business? Why would somebody do that? Is it because it’s more comfortable to run ads from a computer instead of shaking hands, answering hard questions from customers and asking for referrals? Sometimes it’s wise to deploy the ‘All-In’ strategy whereas other times it’s silly and straight out dumb. Facebook Ads Aren’t the Cure for All Your Business Problems If you’re an avid reader of my blog posts, you know that I’m a strong advocate of doubling, tripling or even quadrupling down on your strengths. Ergo, if roughly 80% of your business is generated via word-of-mouth marketing AKA recommendations from friends, colleagues and consumers, then I would do whatever it takes to put a formalized referral system in place. You will want to create and implement a referral program that is intentional, meaning it doesn’t rely solely on pulling customers by their elbow and asking for random referrals. Yes, you’ll need to invest into the system and integrate it into your overall business process. If you’re not doing it professionally, you’re not just leaving money on the table but you’re also wasting your precious time. Let me reiterate again the fact that Facebook ads are an amazing online marketing vehicle. If used correctly and integrated with other online and offline marketing activities, it can lead to tremendous results – most of which are measurable. Today, it seems like everybody wants to work remotely and be left alone to spend their entire day on the smartphone. Whether this behavior is helpful to you and the human race in general, goes beyond the purpose of this blog’s topic. Obviously, based on this behavior you are confronted with on a daily basis and maybe, just maybe you yourself can relate to quite deeply, you will be inclined to conclude that all business is done on social by running adverts. Wrong thinking. To this day, the most successful businesses are built on the backbone of meaningful relationships. Nothing beats Face-to-Face (F2F). The Elite knows this very well, that’s why they continue to hang out at high-caliber conferences such as the World Economic Forum (WEF) or Bilderberg. This is where they meet in person and close deals behind doors. The wealthiest people on this planet understand the power of F2F. Face-to-Face has the highest sales impact. Period. Success Leaves Clues; So Do the Wealthy Technology has made things easier. It allows us to exchange information at lightning speed and connect worldwide with like-minded people without the cost of traveling. However, technology and therefore Facebook, Instagram, Google, Amazon, “you name it” ads cannot and will never ever compensate the losses you make by ditching offline marketing activities. Get out of your own way and continue to build meaningful relationships. Use Facebook ads as an integral part of your marketing bouquet without disregarding and more importantly, disrespecting the offline world. Remember, with Facebook ads, you’re building your house on somebody else’s land. Yes, you can send traffic to your website and other sources you own, but if your entire business depends on the blue social media giant in Silicon Valley and one day @Zuck decides to close down the whole thing and go on a prolonged vacation, you’re done. Think before you ditch something. Add Facebook ads to the equation. Strengthen your referral process. Expand your knowledge, skill set and mindset to be able to grow your business. Building a Sustainable Business: Sprint, Marathon or Both?
Everyone can start a business nowadays; it’s never been easier. But will all these individuals really be able to build and maintain a sustainable business? Statistics show that the majority will fail. Therefore the question comes down to, how do you stack the odds in your favor? Let’s say you started out as an employee to later join the entrepreneurial path. Maybe you’re a solopreneur, have a small family business or managed to gather a few people around you who believe in your vision and share the same values. Either way, you’re putting in the work and you’re educating yourself because you understand that the growth of your company is directly correlated with your mindset and heightened level of awareness. Furthermore, you’re familiar with the fact that the struggle is guaranteed whereas success isn’t, but you stay the course because deep down, something innate is pulling you towards a certain goal. The word success has become a commodity. It’s deeply linked to monetary means, while it often disregards the core concepts of life that have to do with health, fulfillment, joy and why not even playfulness. We have become so focused on giving our soul to one area in our lives to later on realize (often when your body and soul have suffered severe damages) that we’ve played the wrong game or the entire strategy we deployed was faulty. Therefore, it comes without surprise that some business owners leave the arena to become spiritual healers, life coaches or decide to dedicate their lives to the greater good. Many are burned out while others have lost their spark and enthusiasm. There’s No One Path to Creating a Sustainable Business Model Before we continue, let me clarify the notion of a sustainable business in this article. It has nothing to do with sustainability as in climate change, environment or some sort of social activity. It’s all about creating and developing a business that is going to be around for many years to come. The focus is on the long-term. When you setup to build a business, there are several questions that you seriously need to think of. Start your journey with these two. 1. WHY are you building the business? Is it to create wealth, dominate an industry or live a decent life according to your terms? Maybe you aim for an IPO or to sell the business for XYZ amount. Become crystal clear as to why you want this business in the first place. Start with the end goal in mind. It’s a lot easier to reverse-engineer things than the other way around. 2. WHAT problem are you solving? Answering this question shouldn’t be taken lightly. You need to solve an actual problem. Coming up with a problem AKA creating demand from nothing just like Apple founder Steve Jobs did, is a super difficult path. Take the first route, figure out a problem and come up with a solution to it. The bigger the problem and the more people are affected by that particular problem, usually the better your chances to building a successful enterprise. Extreme example: If you’re the one to find the cure for cancer and come up with something that actually heals people, your business will not only make a ton of money but you’ll be remembered forever for changing the course of nations worldwide. Obviously, building a sustainable business requires a rock-solid foundation. Therefore it’s always helpful to start with a deep dive into what it is that actually drives you to put forth the kind of effort that is necessary and required to build a successful company. On top of everything else, you’ll need to be brutally honest with yourself by assessing what it is that you’re really good at, where your innate talents rely and what valuable skills and experiences you possess. Then you’ll need to come up with a plan and decide on what new skills you’ll acquire and the team of people you’ll onboard to help you achieve your dreams. There will be times when you’ll need to sprint whereas on other occasions you’ll be well advised to keep your pace in order to finish the marathon. Having an integral approach, adhering to principles why not shying away from changing strategies, is of critical importance. There is no one-size-fits-all path, guide or book that you can follow in order to build a successful business. There are many components and variables to the equation that need to work seamlessly intertwined. Whatever You Decide. It’s Your Choice. There are different levels of sophistication to building a lasting business. So much depends on you, your ability to navigate in stormy waters and adapt to changes. It’s how you deal with people and setbacks that will have a major impact on your next move. Yes, luck is often also part of the game but you can’t rely on that one can you? Whether you set out to create a $47K business because you love to have lots of free time playing with your kids, educating them and pursuing your hobbies, or you go all in on building the next $1B enterprise, in the end it all comes down to you. However, if you truly want to build a sustainable business that will be around for future generations, you’ll need to seriously up your game mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
