06 - Baby-sitting, QE, and the Unwinding of Balance Sheets
In this episode, we talk about Quantitative Easing in Washington's "Capitol Hill Baby-sitting Co-op." Then we talk about Quantitative Easing by the Federal Reserve. Yes, it may sound a bit boring and technical. But we reckon that QE has had far more devastating socio-political consequences than most people realise.  Finally, we talk about the Fed unwinding its balance sheet. And our hope that it will be as boring as "watching paint dry". PS: sorry for the long hiatus. We kept having to re-record this episode due to our test audience getting very confused. We hope we've (finally) managed to fix that.

05 - Of Bitcoin and Goats (yes, goats)
In this episode, we answer an important question: "is bitcoin a currency or a commodity?" And then we talk about goats. Because Zimbabwe has a cash crisis. And the Zimbabwean government has suggested that parents pay their children's school fees in livestock.  Surprise twist: Jayson turns out to be more of a fan than he'd realised.

04 - All About Cryptocurrency! And Blockchain! And Bitcoin!
In this episode, we dive deep into the origin story of Bitcoin, why Andy is an Ethereum fan, the magic of zCash, and the "Ecosystem". Jayson mostly tries to understand why we need blockchain technology for more than just digital currency. And discovers that the purists don't call it 'blockchain'. PS: please don't forget to subscribe to us on iTunes, and give us a rating! We need them to feel good about ourselves. And so that the podcast can gain some traction. But mostly the first part #millennialproblems

03 - The Cigarette Money Episode AKA The Tobacco Standard
In this episode, we dive deep into a World War II prisoner of war camp, where the simple cigarette demonstrates the rise and fall of commodity-backed currencies. We owe our inspiration for this particular episode to Tim Harford and his book "The Undercover Economist strikes back".  Also check out this Rolling Alpha post: P.O.W. Economics: a parable.  PS: we have an update to our constant recording woes. This week, we fixed the microphone, and our neighbours decided to engage in some neighbourly wall-drilling. On a Saturday. MID-RECORDING. Sorry.

02 - The Money-Chicken and the Credit-Egg
In this second episode of the podcast, we talk about bartering and gift economies. More importantly, we ask ourselves "Which came first: money or debt"? #originstory Fair warning: this episode involves some Aristotle (both of us were quite excited about this). Jayson also got to tell a story with sound effects. PS: apologies (again) for the slightly-clipped audio recording. We figured out what was going wrong - and it'll be fixed from episode 3 onwards!

01 - Bitcoin, Hyperinflation and other money stuff
Our first episode opens with a story about a small rural town, fiat money and debt. And Andy talks about Bitcoin (of course). And we discuss the surprising reasons why South Africa might just be the best place to start the conversation about all things monetary. PS: apologies for the somewhat clipped audio!
