Beaury is a NFLPA Certified Contract advisor and the founder of Impact Sports Management, an athlete representation firm. They currently represent some of the players who were drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft. As a contract advisor, he is an expert in the NFL's Collective Bargaining Agreement and inner workings of the football world. Our guest this week on the Original Sports Podcast with Mark Maradei is Matthew Semelsberger.  A 3 Sport guy in high school competing in football, lacrosse, and wrestling. Excelling particularly in football and leading his high school to a state championship he earned a FBS scholarship to Marist where he was majoring in criminology before taking a life turn and beginning his MMA career. After one of his wrestling buddies showed him his collection of the Ultimate Fighting Championship videos, he was enamored with the sport and decided to start his goal of making the UFC. Starting his professional career in 2017, Semelsberger compiled a 6-2 record in the regional East Coast scene and fought his first UFC fight on August 22, 2020 against Carlton Minus with a unanimous victory. As he continues his pursuit of a welterweight championship we are going to discuss with Matthew his training, his role models in the sport and who has helped him excel thus far. We will also dig a little bit into his high school sports career and how it helped him to develop the habits he needs to be a highly competitive athlete today. My guest this week on the Original Sports Podcast with Mark Maradei was born and raised in Erie, PA with a love of football. As a young boy, his uncle tried to brainwash him into becoming a Dallas Cowboys fan by sitting him in front of the TV and put on Cowboys film from the 90’s. Taylor Green is a Board Member and Director of Communications for Black Girl Hockey Club. She leads on messaging and strategy to ensure BGHC's mission of advocating for the inclusion of Black women and girls in hockey resonates throughout all levels of the sport. Outside of her work with BGHC, she chairs the Youth Council of the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA), where she works to affirm the dignity and rights of young people in sport. This week's guest on the Original Sports Podcast with Mark Maradei is Martina Kwan. Born in Hong Kong to a German mother and Chinese father, Martina Kwan was destined for a life that was different.  She spent her childhood in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, but credits living in war torn Beirut, Lebanon between the ages of 8-10, as an experience that defined much of her fearlessness today.   After earning two Master of Science degrees, she worked in the male dominated finance and accounting fields in New York City with KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Wall Street’s Lehman Brothers.She has  won Telly and Emmy awards with the first company she founded, So! Animation. Daring to be different is what drives Martina today...literally!  Three years ago, at the age of 50, Martina knew it was time to take a car racing hobby she occasionally enjoyed to the next level.  Proving that it’s never too late, she decided to become a race car driver. Since her debut as the world’s only Female Chinese/European race car driver just four years ago, Martina has become a 3-time champion in a male-dominated racing category in her Porsche 911. She set track records in each of her Porsche car classes, and has won first place for the majority of each of the past 3 years she has driven.  In addition, she drove semi-professionally in the Blancpain GT World Challenge where she podiumed twice in 7 races.   She is a Champion Mindset Coach helping women reach their potential and attract high paying clients.  In addition, she is the Co-Founder of the World's First Racing School DK Racing School, co-founded by a Male and Female FIA Licensed Race Car Driver, Dement and Kwan.  We will talk with Martina about her life growing up including the lessons she learned from Beirut. How she transitioned from Wall Street to being an Entrepreneur. What got her interested in racing cars and why she decided to start her own racing school. Her goals in helping others realize their self value. This week's guest on the Original Sports Podcast with Mark Maradei is Thea Lafond. Thea LaFond is a triple jumper from Domineca. She competed at the 2016 SUmmer Olympics in the women’s triple jump; her result of 12.82 meters in the qualifying round did not qualify her for the final. She was also selected to represent Domencia at 2018 Commonwealth Games. During the 2018 Commonwealth Games, she created history by becoming the first Dominican athlete to win a medal for Domenica at the Commonwealth Games after securing a bronze medal in the women’s triple jump. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics. We will talk with Thea about her career as a track star and how it all began. She will share her experiences as an olympic athlete and how she stays at the top of her game to continue competing.
