Black Maternal Health: Giving Birth Safely in America
Chile, too frequently, women and families in the United States experience inadequate maternity care that is not easily accessible, secure, woman-centered, evidence-based, or affordable. In this podcast we talk about how some of the leading causes of death among black women who gave birth are complications related to pregnancy, childbirth, and puerperium. We go into real, vulnerable stories on how some of my clients have experienced issues in medical environments, especially in pregnancies. The incredible Naseema also shares her path into becoming a nurse while growing up without health insurance. She opens up about how taking control of her finances led her to overcoming bankruptcy and divorce, and discusses how she shifted her mindset around money. -Xo Raw Girl Settle into your favorite chair and get ready to learn: Common complications in pregnancy The shocking current statistics on black mortality rate Different options for giving birth The potential effect on a doctors race with infant mortality Birth options to consider Why it’s important to consider WHERE you give both The different types of care providers you can visit Chile, if after listening to this episode you want to work with a professional on your pregnancy journey, or have experienced some of the details we spoke about on the show, sign up for a free 20 minute meet and greet to talk to me here.
