Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum: An Inside Look
In this episode of the Sports Salsa podcast, we take you inside the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum. Director Emeritus & Historian of the birthplace, Michael Gibbons, is our guest. Gibbons talks about the iconic baseball player’s past, including his birth in Baltimore. He also shares information on: what sports fans will see when they come to the birthplace and museumhow Babe Ruth’s family helped create an authentic look of how the birthplace appeared when the Bambino was bornwhy Gibbons went from a documentary filmmaker to Executive Director of the birthplace and museum The Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum in Baltimore Gibbons talks about a new exhibit and how the number “60” became so important in baseball history. The museum is located at 216 Emory Street in Baltimore. Hours are generally 10 am to 5pm, but visitors should check the website for hours since they change during the seasons. Memberships to the birthplace and museum “keep alive the legacy of the greatest baseball player of all time,” Gibbons says. He encourages fans to be a part of the museum’s goals.
