If you’re going to tell a story, you need to know where to start.  And in telling the story of Jesus, Mark doesn’t start in the usual places, with details about Jesus’ birth or God’s eternal Word.  Instead he starts out in the wilderness, along the Jordan river, where a preacher named John is calling people to repentance.  This week, we explore why Mark starts where he does, and what it tells us about this work that God is doing in Jesus.

This sermon is the beginning of our new series based on the Gospel of Mark.  This week we meet the writer of the Gospel and seek to understand more about who he was, what he wrote, and what led him to write it.

Luke 10:38-42 Many of us have heard the story of Mary and Martha since our days in Sunday School. Mary is usually seen as the good one sitting at Jesus’ feet while Martha gets scolded for being too busy to hear what Jesus has to say. What if that’s not how the story goes? Maybe the meaning is something much deeper than that. Maybe Martha found what she needed at the feet of Jesus. Listen as Brad tells the familiar story with a not so familiar end.

Matthew 15:21-28 What are dairy bunnies? Well, you’ll have to listen as Brad tells us about the Canaanite woman who found herself at the feet of Jesus. She asks Jesus for what she needs, but this time Jesus doesn’t respond like you might think. He answers in a way to force us to evaluate our understanding of what faith is. Mark 5:1-20 This is the fourth sermon in the At His Feet series. Listen as Brad tells the story of how a demon possessed man finds what he needs at the feet of Jesus.

Luke 7 It’s likely that you’ve heard about the woman with the alabaster jar. She’s the one who cried tears onto Jesus’ feet and then wiped them with her hair. She anointed His feet with her perfume.
