41: "Overcoming" - Interview w/Alyssa Rocco
Alyssa Rocco is on a mission to create positive change in the world. She came to Handel Group seven years ago with a desire to change her career. After spending nearly a decade in the biotech industry participating in the launch of two successful life changing medicines for Cystic Fibrosis and Hepatitis C, she still felt like there was something missing in her life. After one session with a coach at Handel Group, she quickly discovered what was missing - she wasn't living true to her own dreams; she wasn’t happy; and she didn’t know how to become happy. This realization inspired a journey: Alyssa became a coach, changed careers, learned how to date honestly, transformed the dynamic in her family, navigated addiction, and confronted how to create and maintain great relationships in her life. She brings a deep understanding of The Handel Method to the work she does with her clients and students at MIT. Her analytical mindset and process-oriented nature led to her work in the Media Division, and most recently, to build, test, and launch Inner.U, Handel Group’s first digital course. Alyssa grew up in Boston and received her Bachelor’s degree in communication, film and technical writing from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and her Master’s degree in Organizational Psychology from the Massachusetts School of Psychology. She is certified in process improvement techniques and six sigma practices. She is a dancer and practices 5 Rhythms dance. Sunday Serenity 8 - Mentoring and Boundaries
Taking the time to mentor someone and to contribute to their lives is an important function of giving.  Many of us have the time, the experience, success to pass along wisdom to those coming up.  I believe mentoring is the next step of service.  Today I speak on that plus the topic on boundaries.   For years I have felt that in recovery you are not supposed to utter the words, I will NEVER drink or drug again.  To me...this is this a, “free pass card?”  Giving permission for relapses? We must set boundaries, immovable boundaries:   When to say yes and no Take control of your life Personal property line (fence) Keeps us in and from going out Set our own boundaries, not other people Gates – Access in and out Drinking/Drugging/Eating boundaries How do you learn to have these – Say yes to the right things and no to the wrong things – choices Don’t let others move your boundaries Immovable boundaries Key is to set the boundary and set the consequence for violating Know they are working when other people are getting frustrated because of your new boundaries Have a great Sunday!

31: I Hate You I Love You - Tales From The Abyss
Today’s show is going to be a tough one but should be looked at as a TORCH, A BEACON, A LIGHT OF HOPE.  As many of you know I came up through the 12 step recovery program of AA/NA and through the program and fellowships I haven’t found it necessary to take a drink, or drug, ONE-DAY-AT-A-TIME for 7,000 days today!  There is hope, lots of it!      Recovery News: Eminem Celebrates 10 Years of Sobriety on Social Media Read an email from an anonymous listener – Tales from the Abyss and Hope Read Touchstones reading Friendship with oneself Closing – We can be what we CHOOSE to be, a drug addict/alcoholic/food addict/sex addict/gambler, well….you get it. Once we detox and get away from the crap and get help from professionals where needed we then choose.  We can have an amazing life!  Regrets will still be there but we can’t change the past and we don’t know if we will be here tomorrow.  We have NOW.  Now to make the choices that will make ourselves proud.  The choices that will bring others back closer to us.  It is very real and possible.
