Our Anthology Month comes to a close, as we round out January with a look at Body Bags from John Carpenter & Tobe Hooper. We talk about what an absolute blast this film is. It's origins as a series pilot and how the series never got picked up. We get into just how much fun John Carpenter is having as the host of this one, and how we wished there were more of these purely for more John Carpenter. How the segments by Carpenter & Hooper feel tonally when compared to each other and how their approaches give each segments very different vibes. 2023 Is here! We are kicking off this new year with a look at Horror Anthologies. Up first is a very special delivery, as we open up a Scare Package courtesy of Shudder. In this episode we take a quick look ahead at all the important Horror films coming out in 2023 and what is on our radar. We get into our thoughts on Anthology Horror overall and our expectations going into this one. We break down each individual segment and discuss our thoughts on each story, as well as tackling the wraparound story. In our final episode of 2022 we are taking a look at the 2004 film adaptation of Hellboy starring Ron Perlman as the titular wielder of the Right Hand of Doom. We talk about the impact this movie had on the comic book film sub genre upon release and how it faired in a release year full of mainstream adaptations. Our final Crossing the Stream of the year is here! We are taking a look at the infamous & legendary BBC One Halloween special Ghostwatch from 1992. This episode was good fun. We dove headfirst into one of the most well known and controversial BBC shows ever made. How did we both feel watching this for the first time, and how much did we know going in? How well does it execute its central premise, and how does it hold up 30 years later? Why was this considered to be so shocking and how did something so clearly fictional fool so many people? In the wake of the found footage boom that has followed in the decades since, could the BBC ever pull off something like this again to the same effect? After a minor delay we are back! Our Horror Comic Film month rolls on with a look at 1998's Blade, starring Wesley Snipes as the Half Human, Half Vampire character from Marvel Comics. We look back at our first experiences with this film and our personal relationships with the franchise as a whole. We discuss the film's impact on Culture and how it signaled a significant shift in attitudes towards what a comic book film could be. We also talk about how this movie influenced a generation of films & pop culture in its wake and how it's legacy still rings throughout the landscape now. Is this Wesley Snipes' best role and at which point did the character change from it's original form to becoming a Wesley Snipes character.
