Introduction: Small Church On Main Street
Hello, I am Jeff McLain, and I am your host.I am excited about this podcast that will be exploring the stories of small churches on the main streets across America. I believe the theology of place matters, and often throughout the Bible, we see how not only people matters but place matters. I also think the small church is at an advantage to partner in with the inbreaking of the Kingdom of God, because many small churches still exist in the middle of suburban neighborhoods and main streets – these places where people are still longing for neighborhood, connection, and community. It’s important we as small churches on main streets, realize the opportunities we have to Love God in such a way that it overflows from our lives and church buildings, into the streets around us, so that we can truly love our neighbor.Far too often small churches wrestle with trying to be enough for their people, or they wrestle with communal dysfunction, they suffer from the judgment of those who think small churches cannot be enough, or they are busy trying to be like the other churches around them. As we hear stories from small churches on main streets, I hope we are encouraged with creative ideas in which we can partner with God in our neighborhood, being inspired to partner our strengths and our place together, so that we may demonstrate, embody, and announce the reigning good news and goodness of God to our neighbors.I encourage you to subscribe to this podcast, as we begin hosting conversations, stories, and interviews with churches and resources that are making a difference through missional investment in their main street neighborhoods.I hope you are as excited as I am.
