Achieving balance in business with Lisa van Reeuwyk
Karen Wilson invites Lisa Van-Reeuwyk, a business coach who runs Bloom Business Development, to the show. Lisa is Karen’s own business coach and an entrepreneur, she understands the ups and downs of business and the power a positive mindset can have on success. Lisa started in a very different industry and career but through several traumatic setbacks, she started herself on a different path. Now she helps small business owners, focussed very much on empowering women, and takes joy in fostering valuable connections between friends and clients.  In this episode, Karen learns about Lisa’s passion for connecting people and how she works to set a positive tone for her day. Lisa shares secrets she has for setting genuine intentions and combating the snooze button. She also addresses the power that words have, especially the words we use towards ourselves, and how women especially need to feel more free to ask for help and task-share things not in their ‘genius zone’. It’s a powerful episode full of insight. About Lisa Van-Reeuwyk: Lisa Van-Reeuwyk of Bloom Business Development is a born and raised BC business coach, keynote speaker, educator, blogger, workshop leader, mom, and wife who goes to work each day feeling like a kid in a candy store. Lisa’s unique blend of sweet and savoury experience with roots in broadcast television enables her to support business development in key areas while mapping out the key performance indicators (KPI’s) for success. Entrepreneurs hire her so they can effectively make an explosive impact with their brand, build an authentic community while increasing revenues and profitability. Building business to fit the life you want – Lara Wellman, The Biz Studio
It’s been just over 10 years since I met Lara Wellman on Twitter, and her life and business today is radically different than it was in the summer of 2010, primarily because she’s made intentional decisions about how she wants to grow her business to fit within her life. Merging fashion, function, and comfort – Colleen Kanna, COKANNA
One of the best parts of my conversation with Colleen Kanna is hearing her determination to do something so different out of a sincere desire to help others. The result has been that her work resonates beyond what she expected.  In this episode, Colleen shares the story of COKANNA as well as her thoughts on women, fashion (fast and slow), and the evolution of workwear. Attitudes and minds have been changing for years, but the events of 2020 may be accelerating the transformation.  And that’s pretty exciting for businesses like COKANNA that are focused on sustainability and simplicity. Helping women carry less – Sam Razzaghi, Pensatta Bag
Sam Razzaghi is the designer behind the brand new (soon-to-be-launched) Pensatta Bag. As an immigrant to Canada, Sam is driven to do more than simply make money selling bags. She wants to connect and empower women, help them build and fortify the resilience they already possess.  Be sure to listen in on Sam’s story in this episode and follow her to hear all the news about Pensatta! Avoiding burnout, finding your niche – Lydia Di Francesco
When you own a business, you have to be intentional about designing your whole life, including the business because it’s never separate (not that work is for corporate workers, for that matter). In this episode, learn how Lydia Di Francesco, a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner, has taken her lessons learned through these struggles to come out better than ever. It was no surprise to me to learn Lydia has a marketing background (well, it kind of was—not sure how I missed that little detail given how long we’ve known each other!) When I think of small businesses I’ve followed, Lydia’s marketing has always been consistent, confident, and well done.  Whether it’s business models, discovering her ideal client, or sharing how she burned out (and then recovered), her openness in talking about her business journey with a few different kinds of curves along the way is well worth your time.
