Episode #9 - Falling Forward
In the garden, Adam and Even had perfect bodies– immortal– no sickness or death. They were like children. Innocent. They had forgotten life before mortality. They also could not have children. When God created them, he gave them two commandments: Here’s the Garden of Eden. Lots of good fruit here. Eat whatever you want. But you are commanded not to eat of this one particular tree. It’s the tree of knowledge of good and evil. If you eat that fruit, you will become mortal. Multiply and replenish the earth, start a family, learn to be parents, and be happy (men are that they might have joy). But, wait, these two commandments conflict with each other! They would have to use their free will to choose what to do. Satan thought he would be able to destroy God’s plan by tempting Adam and Eve to partake of the fruit. Eve partook of the fruit, but not because she was gullible to Satan’s lies. Even though she made the choice Satan wanted her to make, she made it for good reasons. Eve knew that she and Adam could not learn and grow and make their own choices between good and evil and have children unless they first ate the fruit. Eating the fruit for this reason was an act of faith. And her faith convinced Adam to eat as well.Adam and Even were expelled from the garden and would have to live mortal life on their own, making their own decisions and learning from experience. But God told them He would send a Savior, Jesus Christ, to conquer death so that Adam, Eve, and every single person ever bron will one day rise from the grave and live again in immortality in God’s presence. Satan would have no lasting power over them.In the religious sense, a transgression is any breaking of God’s rules for any reason. Transgressing knowingly and with evil intent is a “sin.” Adam and Eve transgressed one of God’s commandments, but they did it in order to fulfill the more important commandment to start a family and learn and grow. All Christendom calls this choice the “fall” because they “fell” from the presence of God and death entered the world. But it is a fall forward. It was part of God’s plan. Therefore what?Lessons we can apply to our lives: We owe our existence to Adam and Eve partaking of the fruit. Thanks guys! Satan unknowingly played right into God’s hand. God often takes situations Satan throws at us and turns them into something that will ultimately be for our benefit. Adam and Eve sacrificed immortal life in a blissful garden for us. Soldiers, immigrants, and so many others followed their example in sacrificing themselves or their lifestyle for friends, family, strangers, and generations yet unborn. They all “fall” so that we may live, may be free, and may have a happier life.

Episode #8 - Our First Parents
From the Book of Mormon we learn the purpose of the Creation of the earth: Behold, the Lord hath created the earth that it should be inhabited; and he hath created his children that they should possess it. – 1 Ne 17:36Mankind is God’s crowning creation. God created a human couple and placed them on earth: Adam and Eve.Because we believe in other modern-day scripture that supports and clarifies the Bible, we have some more details that give us a more nuanced view of Adam and Eve than you’ll generally find from a quick read of Genesis. Here are some unique Latter-day Saint teachings about Adam and Eve Adam was Michael the archangel mentioned in Revelation 12 who fought against Satan during the war in heaven. He was chosen to be the first man long before the Creation. Eve was equally noble, selfless, and wise– not the vile temptress as she is so often portrayed. After Adam’s expulsion from the Garden of Eden, God spoke to him and relayed messages to his posterity through him; he was a prophet. God revealed the Plan of Salvation to Adam and his posterity. Adam learned from God that Jesus Christ would one day be born and save all mankind.

Episode #7 - The Creation
We live on a “Goldilocks planet”– not too hot, not too cold. Perfect for sustaining complex life. As a scienties that’s awesome. As a religious person, that’s “awe”-some. What a wonderful blessing God has given us by providing us this beautiful world to live in.

Episode #6 - Church Organization
How the Church is structured may seem like a boring, day-to-day detail. But it impacts how we serve, what we do each week, and gives us a framework for how to worship God with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Episode #5 - War in Heaven
When God presented His Plan of Salvation to His children, we all shouted for joy. Well, OK, not all of us.Coming to earth and experiencing the “school” of mortal life is a risky business. We forget God. We make bad choices. We sin. So God promised to send a Savior to suffer with us and suffer us. To conquer death so we could return to God and be cleansed from our sins. But we would have to choose to apply that saving gift in our lives. Not everyone would want to.

Episode #4 - The Plan
We’ve already talked about how God is our loving Heavenly Father. And how every man, woman, and child ever born to earth are His spirit children. We lived with Him and learned and grew. But there’s only so much you can learn and experience while “living at home.” So God presented a plan to all of us: the Plat of Salvation (aka the Plan of Redemption, aka the Plan of Happiness, etc). This plan included several key components

Episode #3 - Life before life
In the previous episode, we talked about how God didn’t instruct us to call Him “Father,” merely to create a sense of closeness. He is literally the Father of our spirits. We are not merely creations but children. Continuing with that theme, today we address the answer to the first of the “Big Three” questions: Where did I come from?

Episode #2 - God: our loving Heavenly Father
Who (or what) is God? Like other Christian faiths, the Church of Jesus Christ teaches that God is perfect, all-knowing, all-powerful, and loves us far more than we can comprehend in this life. Like our fellow Christians, we follow Christ’s command to address Him as Our Father in Heaven and thank Him for loving us so much that He would send His Son, Jesus Christ, to suffer for our mistakes and qualify us to live with God after this life.
