Creating a Vision
Stop asking yourself “how” and start asking yourself “what if”? My Story Stop asking yourself “how” and start asking yourself “what if”? A lot of people give up before they even get started. I used to be one of them. We’d like to be in shape, but don’t think we are capable of putting in the time and work. We’d like to find a different job, but don’t believe we’re capable and are comfortably uncomfortable in the job we currently have. We’d like more financial freedom and time, but believe that things like that are only meant for the “gifted”, “successful”, or “lucky” people. Henry Ford said, “If you think you can’t, you’re right.” That statement is so true! So how do you change that? Create a vision for your future. Don’t be afraid to dream big. Think about what you want and then instead of asking yourself “how” right off the bat, envision what that change will look like. How will it impact your future, the future of your family? Start to shift your focus from impossible to possible. Give yourself permission to connect with the benefits. I spent the first 30 years of my life living with an “I can’t” attitude. My victim mentality was out of control. “I don’t have this because… I can’t have this because…” If you keep thinking about life in that way, then you’re right. Nothing will ever change, progress will never be made. I finally learned that it’s up to ME to make a change. It’s up to ME to make things happen. Coaching has opened my eyes to this. Life is full of so much potential, you just have to be willing to put in the time and the work. So what I’m asking you to do – allow yourself to dream. Create a vision for your future that is so big it makes you uncomfortable. Then think about what your future would be like if you made that happen. Once you’ve done that, then start asking yourself how. This image below shows my physical transformation, but it’s so much more than that. Sure I’ve lost some weight and inches, but the mental transformation has been incredible! New challenge group beginning April 3rd. I keep telling my story, why don’t we start telling yours?

Why Join a Challenge Group?
I know, I know, it's been a minute since my last podcast. I'm sorry! I did record one, but then deleted it. I have been coaching for 2 years now and I struggle big time with sharing "my why". It's personal, awkward, and not really something I want to share with the world. But you know what? That is what we start our challenge groups with - finding our why. Why is this important to us? Why do we want to start a health and fitness journey? This why, this deeper reason - this is what is going to keep you going when the "newness" wears off. When you hit a plateau. When the 5am wakeups get daunting. When meal planning gets cumbersome. When you aren't seeing results as quickly as you'd like. When you have a cheat day and feel like throwing in the towel. What is going to keep you in it? Your why. And it can't be, "I want to lose weight." If that were enough, then everyone would look like a fitness model. Nope, it has to be deeper. So this week's podcast is personal. It's awkward, and it's raw. But it's my why! It is what drives me, and it is why I am so darn passionate about these challenge groups! So listen. If any of my story resonates with you, please reach out to me. I would love to help you get started on your own journey! Follow this link if you're ready to get started in a challenge group.

Be Kind to Yourself
The other day I posted this on my personal Facebook page, which is so fitting and just in time for my favorite challenge group - Love Yourself Challenge. Who else's HATES fitting rooms? I mean, how do they even sell clothes? I have to admit, I have been feeling pretty dang good lately. I have gotten rid of a ton of clothes that don't fit me, I'm fitting into all of my small clothes, I have increased my weights during my workouts, my endurance has improved with every week I continue my current program, I feel good and I'm confident in my skin. I've stopped picking myself apart in the mirror but I'm instead excited to see new lines that are starting to come through. I even decided to try on bathing suits... As soon as I stepped into the fitting room and put on a bathing suit - instant depression. "Wow, why have I been so confident lately, am I blind or is our house just really poorly lit?" "Why on Earth did I think I was ready to try on swim suits, I have a loonnnggg way to go before I get to this point." "What the crap is Bryan talking about my legs look toned? They look like a tin roof that was just attacked by a hail storm." "How on Earth am I fitting into old jeans with love handles the size of Texas?" And the thoughts just went on and on as I stood there looking at my sad, tired body. Everything from the past month disappeared. All of my non scale victories, all of my confidence, and all of my work just kind of evaporated. I left the fitting room without buying anything feeling so discouraged and to be honest, kind of foolish. That was a week ago. I have continued my workouts every day, I have continued eating right everyday, and it has taken me a week to come to a new conclusion. Your mindset, whether it is a positive or negative one, is your choice. Changing your mindset is harder than exercise, it's harder than eating right, it's harder than doing anything. If you can change it, you can do anything. I have worked so hard and I have gotten great results. I will always have something to pick at when I look in the mirror if that's what I'm looking for. Always. That won't change. What I have to change is my mindset. I have to retrain what I look for and that's not easy. Make the choice - When I look in the mirror am I going to pick apart all of my hard work or am I going to celebrate it? Am I going to look in the mirror and wish I was seeing someone else staring back or am I going to be proud

Ep 4 - Developing your "Why"
So you are pumped to get started with eating right and exercising! You have your workout clothes picked out, your program is set to go, your healthy food is prepped and packed and you are ready! Day 1, you do an awesome job and you're on fire! Day 2, you're ready, let's do this! Day 3, I'm going to do this! Day 4.... I said I'd do this and I have to. Day 5, It's Friday, I can skip Friday right? Day 6, I'm going to sleep in, it's Saturday after all! Day 7, Didn't even God rest on Sunday? And then you quit. Sound familiar? That definitely was me! I've found through running and participating in monthly challenge groups that the real problem with people being unable to stick to a health and fitness routine is not that they are incapable, it is because they haven't fixed their mindset. Developing a strong "why", a strong reason why your goals are important to you is the first step in making any big, sustainable life change. Listen to my newest podcast for tips on how to create it! Ready to get started? Join my challenge group for individualized coaching and support on both creating your why and then sticking to your goals!
