299: Arizona Cardinals - Know Your Rival 2020
Please help out the show by nominating the Sea Hawkers Podcast for the 15th Annual People's Choice Podcast Awards. Before we get to the Arizona Cardinals offseason and their outlook for 2020, we discuss the decision to cancel preseason games. It will be the first time since we've been doing the show that we don't have a preseason crush going into Week 1 of the NFL. Included in the changes is how the team has allowed season ticket holders to opt out for their seats this year. We also discuss the PFF rankings for the Seahawks defensive line and how Michael Bennett's retirement means one less veteran who can come back and help offer some improvement. There's still some time before the season and as we review the Cardinals you'll understand that there isn't much difference between the lowest ranked team and being middle of the pack in the NFL.
The Arizona Cardinals are a team, apart from maybe the Tampa Bay Bucs, who are widely seen as winning the offseason. But apart from optimism from last year and a blockbuster trade for one of the top wide receivers in the NFL, the NFC West rival parallels the Cleveland Browns in many respects. The most positive part of the Cardinals is that they have very few players who can be disliked. We need your help in making up some rumors to build up our sports hate for this particular team.
In the second half of the show, we talk about the latest news in the Quinton Dunbar case. There is one reason to be optimistic that he could play for the team this season. The renaming of the Washington Football Team, means that a friend of a longtime listener also needs a new nickname. CBS Sports lands in the doghouse for both of the Do Better selections this week. There has been a lot of focus on team nicknames over the past couple weeks, so we close the show by focusing on the best and worst of team names throughout sports.
