R.U.R. TV broadcast - February 11, 1938
The first ever science-fiction TV broadcast occurred on February 11, 1938. The BBC aired a 35-minute adaptation of Karel Capek's play "R.U.R." which also happened to be the first place the word "robot" was ever used.
