LADYLIKES: Sane Time, Sane Place- Booze
We've made it to the final episode of season two, and this week we're chatting about booze. The closure of pubs, 'locktail' hour, drinking with friends on zoom and Dry January in lockdown,  it's fair to say that the pandemic has changed the relationship many of us have with alcohol. We are absolutely delighted to be chatting to drinks professional and venue manager, Zanna Mercer all things drinks related. With over ten years in the drinks industry, Zanna has focused much of her personal and professional life more recently around championing mindful drinking, and believes in the positive power of opening up the conversation with ourselves and each other around alcohol.LinksFollow Drinkbright on Instagram @drinkbrightFollow Brixton Yoga on Instagram @Brixtonyoga

LADYLIKES: Sane Time, Sane Place- Finding Your Voice
In a year filled with uncertainty, forced isolation and some of the most divisive issues facing society,  we have all been challenged to reflect on our core values and beliefs; to work out when we need to speak out and when we need to listen. But really knowing how and when to use your voice can feel like a challenge of epic proportions especially when you add a good dose anxiety, a dash of imposter syndrome and a sprinkle of societal conditioning.  This week we are delighted to be talking to the incredible voice coach and director, Barbara Houseman all about our voices and how to use them.Barbara Houseman has worked in theatre for forty years. After dividing her time between Directing and Voice Work, she spent six years in the world renowned Voice Department at the Royal Shakespeare Company and then became Associate Director at the Young Vic . For the last 22 years she has worked freelance as a Voice, Text and Acting coach.  She has worked with the best performers including  Daniel Radcliffe, Jude Law,  Clive Owen and Jessie Buckley. She is the author of Finding Your Voice and Tackling Text [and Subtext] both published by Nick Hern Books and of two digital Masterclasses Developing Your Voice and Bringing the Text to Life. LADYLIKES: Sane Time, Sane Place- Keep On Movin'
This week the sane timers are talking about how exercise can keep us sane (and the ways it drives us mad).  From swimming to jogging we're chatting about our relationship with movement as well as doing our usual sanity check in and bringing you the week's silliest news stories. Our brilliant guest this week is singer-turned-yoga teacher Holly Husler. From performing original pop tunes at the London O2 stage to an audience of 20,000 people in her girl-band days, to singing healing mantras and playing magical instruments to seas of sleeping yogis at events, festivals and studios across the globe, Holly Husler’s journey has taken some unexpected turns! Holly’s yoga practice over some years of feeling lost eventually led her back to herself and to her musical roots, drawing to the surface a deep desire to help people find conscious connection and inner peace through yoga and music, leading her to train as a yoga teacher and sound healer. Holly is exploring new ways to be a musician in this world, and is currently writing an album of healing music due to be released early next year. LADYLIKES Sane Time, Sane Place- Cats
This week on Sane Time, Sane Place, we discuss one of our all time favourite things... CATS! Yes, the self confessed crazy cat ladies have dedicated a whole episode on how these fluffy maniacs keep us sane. But there really is truth in the idea that pets are good for you- it's been scientifically proven that having a pet can reduce anxiety, stress, blood pressure and cholesterol, can prevent loneliness, and increase the release of serotonin and dopamine, the chemicals that help you relax! We chat about our respective cats, Salem and George, and reveal their mad antics and why we love them despite them keeping us up all night and behaving like stroppy teenagers. Miztli also does a cat quiz for Phoebe, with varying levels of success... Our special guest this week is Hannah Goodwin-Sharman. Hannah is the fundraiser for Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary, an independent shelter in Bristol, rescuing dogs, cats and other small animals. They have an open door policy, meaning they don't discriminate against age, health or behavioural issues, and are a last chance for many animals. They are one of a handful of shelters who throughout the pandemic have continued taking in dogs and cats and rehoming them, and have re-homed over 40 cats since the start of lockdown. Hannah tells us about her role at the sanctuary, the cats she has adopted over the years and how they keep her sane! LADYLIKES Sane Time, Sane Place MINI- Plants
In a time when we feel out of control of pretty much everything, having a nice little plant to nurture and grow can create a real sense of calm and purpose. In this weeks bonus episode we chat about our new found love for plants and how they're keeping us sane! Phoebe has become a self proclaimed 'Green fingered Goddess' and had a nice trip to Homebase to get lots of 'flowery flowers' she has no idea of the names of, and Miztli became a victim of Instagram advertising and now owns Penny the Chinese Money Plant, as well as making an enemy of the wailing squirrel who keeps digging up her newly planted seeds. Phoebe finally remembered the name of the 'Shizam for plants' to identify your plants which is PictureThis- Plant Identifier, which you can get in the app store!* * * We have set up a Ko-fi page which helps us create Sane Time, Sane Place though your generous donations of £3- the price of a coffee! Sane Time, Sane Place- Activism Special
Welcome to this week's special episode on Activism with Sellisha Lockyer. On the 25th May 2020, George Floyd, a 46 year old black man, was murdered as a white police officer knelt on his neck for over eight minutes. In the last three weeks what has followed has been extraordinary. Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic; protests, marches and memorials have spread around the globe. So how can we best serve this cause, how can we be allies, and join this movement for change? We talk to Sellisha Lockyer, GLA List candidate for the Women’s Equality Party and Chair of the party’s BAME Caucus, which she helped to set up at the last Party Conference. Focussing her activism on gender, race and class equality, Sellisha is passionate about intersectionality and believes we cannot achieve equality without understanding intersectional experiences. Today she's talking to us about how she became an activist, how the pandemic has effected her work, and how you can be an ally within the BAME caucus of the Women’s Equality Party as well as in the world during this momentous time. You can find out more about Sellisha here- Sellisha Lockyer on Twitter @sellishalockyerSellisha's Women's Equality Party profile https://www.womensequality.org.uk/sellisha_lockyerThe campaigns and places to donate mentioned in the podcast are- Black Lives Matter UK https://blacklivesmatter.com/Black Minds Matter https://www.blackmindsmatteruk.com/Minnesota Freedom fund https://minnesotafreedomfund.org/Women's Equality Party https://www.womensequality.org.uk/

Join us (AKA Miztli and Phoebe) for our third episode of Sane Time, Sane Place. This week we are talking all things self-care.
