How does expressive art work?
Using expressive art or creative arts is an expression of emotion. It helps us to process  memories and calm our minds. It is therefore an effective way of working with your clients and looking after yourself as a therapist. Expressive arts is not just visual art, it also includes sandplay, movement, clay, dance and storytelling.  Our new Expressive Arts teacher Irene Dudley-Swarbrick PhD explores her own creative journey and the damage that art teachers can do to our creative imaginations Irene tries to live her life creatively,  colourfully and with compassion. She is a senior academic in Counselling  and Psychotherapy training, teaching both talking therapies and  Person-Centred Expressive Art Therapy. Irene will be teaching an introductory weekend to our new expressive arts trainings face-to-face in Lancaster, Lancashire, England in Autumn 2022.  You can book for the September 17/18th weekend (early bird discount) and the November 26/27th weekend online here https://jillcartertraining.co.uk/introduction-expressive-creative-arts-therapy/ There will be an online version of this course before Christmas 2022.
