Sample Culture (Episode #409 - MF DOOM)
A man that has many personalities Zev Love X, King Geedorah, Viktor Vaughn, Metal Fingers, DOOM. He tends to bring his special brand of production and wacky, often funny, but always smart and always delivered from behind his metal mask. This week we dig into the villain inspired production of DOOM and dig into those for the samples. We will also hear a Sample Culture first interview from Roel van den Heuvel who took a long journey to dig for the Arrow Root/Next Levels sample. This episode was a labor of love and we hope you enjoy it.  --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/sampleculture/support

Sample Culture - Episode #207 - Kraftwerk (RIP FLORIAN)
Hearing the sad news of the death of Florian Schneider, one of the founding members of the Kraut Electro group Kraftwerk, I realised that I had not posted this episode from 2018. This is when we were a 2 hour show. Lots of discussion and me bringing TP into the folds of Kraftwerk and their unquestionable influence on Kraftwerk. This episode was a deeply personal one for me, as I am a super fan. It was on the books as an idea for an episode since day 1 of the show. As always we will hear songs from Kraftwerk, and the artist that have sampled them. Though he has not been an active part of the group since 2008 his legacy lives on. We hope you enjoy this episode. RIP Florian thank you for you amazingly perfect music.  -Sleeper --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/sampleculture/support

Sample Culture - Episode #407 - Beatles Covers
The influence that the Beatles have had on music is immeasurable. Their short run from 1960's-1970's yielded a body of music that has been covered thousands of times and a few (if you could afford it or wanted to be sued) samples. We have covered direct samples of the Beatles on a previous episode, so this week we wanted to dig in on samples from artists that have covered the Beatles.  This show was recorded back in March at the very beginning of this Coronavirus nonsense. I have one other episode and I believe that will be the fateful end of our program. Thank you to all those who have listened and supported us over the last 3 years. We have mad love for each and every one of you! Stay safe!   --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/sampleculture/support

Sample Culture - Episode #332 - Ultimate Breaks and Beats
The 25 volume compilation of drums breaks and breakbeats, that have provided every good dj with the tools to practice their trade, since 1986.  Leonard "BreakBeat Lenny" Roberts and his partner "Breakbeat Lou" Flores joined forces to create Street Beat Records to provide these compilations, born out of the park jams of Kool Herc and Bambaataa they complied monster tracks that have been sampled countless times and live in the crates of the greatest to do it.  Breakbeat Lou would edit the tracks often extending breaks or pitching down breaks to allow DJ's to take scratching and mixing, and sampling to a whole new realm. This week Sleeper and TP break down some of our favorite tracks that sample from the selections on these compilations.  Follow us on Twitter (Goodie Mob does so you should too): @dasampleculture and on Facebook:  @sampleculture98.9 --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/sampleculture/support
