After about a month on hiatus, the guys are back for the New Year with their thoughts about the last year in gaming. Like many of you out there, they didn’t have the time or money to play through every game that came out. Whether you’re new to the podcast or listening for the first time, the guys provide insight into various games that impacted their 2014. Happy New Year’s from the guys at Safe Refuge!

The guys are back to recording at Kris’ house. They are joined this week by their Anime-loving friend Charles, to talk about Fantasy Life and the current season of anime. This week’s music was Drowning by Banks.

After a week of being gone, the guys have gathered to talk about more video games. They actually managed to play a few games together, whether it was hunting down monsters or trying to find/sell drugs. This week’s music was Everything (Prod. by Bel Heir & ARNOLD) by ROZES.

This last weekend was the annual celebration of the births of both Kris and Jc. Though much time was spent drinking and being merry, the guys still took time to talk about their weeks in gaming and geek culture. This week’s music was Mom’s Spaghetti by Eminem.

In this episode of Safe Refuge, the guys compare their experiences in Borderlands the Pre-Sequel with what they’ve encountered in Destiny. They continue the trend of comparisons by talking about the DC Cinematic Universe and the Marvel Cinematic Universe at length. This episode is dedicated to Thomas and Martha Wayne as well as the many other dead parents of heroes, as well as the often missing mothers of Disney princesses. A Shadow has risen over the Traveler. Though the Speaker still whispers in our ears, the Ring of Power calls to the guys of Safe Refuge. The hype train continues to gain steam with the seemingly weekly releases of great AAA titles. This week’s music was Retro by Childish Gambino.

It has been three weeks since The Traveler first visited Safe Refuge. Kris and Ehime are still trying to work through the cryptic messages of The Speaker. Meanwhile, the rest of the guys simply look on in confusion as they discuss games other than Destiny. This week’s music was Guess I’m a Fool by Hugh Laurie.

The hype train continues through Safe Refuge as we talk a little bit more about Destiny. Hopping on board this week are Smash Bros and the various Final Fantasy games being hyped up from Tokyo Game Show. Try to contain yourself as the guys disuss their weeks in gaming and geek culture. Although video game season has finally been ushered in with the latest Madden release, the guys spend most of this week’s episode talking about anime. With members still gone and no new games being released, the guys are left talking about Japanese indie games and the various other games that occupied their time. With one member on vacation and another just coming back, the guys wondered what they would even talk about. Thankfully, PT came along and made this week interesting.
