The US is on the verge of collapse with the American Civil War raging on, and the Union has laid plans to build the first Transcontinental Railroad, however, the Rocky Mountains stand in the way of binding California to the rest of the US. Abraham Lincoln commissions Grenville Dodge to find a passage through the Rocky Mountains. While fighting the Crow near the Laramie Range, Dodge sees the Crow warriors retreating down a gradual slope. Following the end of the Civil War, Dodge and Christopher Columbus Augur established the city of Cheyenne and Fort D.A.
