E.34 - Permaculture Your Life with Morag Gamble
In this podcast we talk to Morag Gamble who lives in a permaculture village near Maleny in the subtropical part of southeast Queensland, Australia. Morag explains that Permaculture is a One Planet way of life in each of our contexts, and in each of our communities. Morag talks about how permaculture has been a part of her life since her teen years. She says that permaculture is a practical way to live life in balance with ourselves, our communities, and our ecosystems. It is a way of approaching life. We talk about permaculture in the context of producing food but also in the context of education and life in general. Basically, we can permaculture our lives. Permaculture is a system approach where all the elements are considered as part of the whole, however, this does not mean that we need to understand the whole system before we interact with it or try to make changes, but we need to take steps in the direction of our curiosity and our interest and then observe and interact based on the steps we’ve taken and then creatively use and adapt to change. Find what makes your heart sing and go for simple and slow solutions.Permaculture is an invitation to live regeneratively rather than with the consumer-based mind frame. Morag shares Fritjof Capra's teaching that life is a learning system always adapting to its environment. Everything is in relation to everything else. We need to start from here. We also talk about how permaculture is being used by the youth. There is much negative news about the state of the world and in many cases, these issues are ignored and not addressed because of a lack of power to make any changes. However, this creates anxiety in the youth. On the other hand, permaculture provides tools to be able to address these issues and empower young people to take action. The youth want to tackle the problems now, not when they have such and such degree. The issues are now and the youth still have the creativity to come up with solutions that adults could not think of due to being stuck in our ways. Morag shares with us a tip to start designing our lives towards the way we want to live and it is to create a mind map of what we envision and she encourages us to do these mind maps with other people that know us so they can see where we are heading and they can help us get there.  Support the show

E.33 - Into Your Wilderness Quest with Karen Gordon
Karen’s journey started in her bedroom window where one day the forest was there and then another day the forest was gone. This left a mark in her. When she was older she decided to study Biology and she focused her work on landscape restoration. This work led her to Monteverde in Costa Rica, a place she fell in love with. However, her big shift was when her son was born and she had a realization that what needed deeper restoration were our human inner landscapes. She jumped in deep into this work.  Now she guides people to be their own inner naturalists using the metaphors of the wise Mother Earth, using an ancient rite of passage ceremony, the wilderness quest, a ceremony that has been practiced by all cultures. We all have ancestors that practiced wilderness quests. We are all indigenous to this Earth and through her, we gain deep wisdom into our life mission and into our medicine. Karen guides us in our Mytho-Poetic-Journey of life. Support the show

S.2 - E.11 - Reset your mind with a Dopamine Detox
Summary: In this Episode Aanghel shares with us his experience on doing a dopamine detox, the quickest easiest simplest way to reset your mind. In addition, he shares the levels of detox we can do and how to do them, as well as the long lasting benefits that aligned with what we want to do in life and help us reach our potential.  Show Notes:  Your mind would go with what it knows is it the easy way out, quickest way to get dopamine Dopamine is a neurotransmitter as many others in the brain, but the point of a dopamine detox is to limit the sources of dopamine intake from technology sources (movies, music, video games, social media, internet)  The mind will reset and regulate the dopamine intake from a more natural source of dopamine intake. In other words the simple free things will give you a dopamine hit. The goal is to simplify your life, and asking yourself why is it that you want to do it, and what exactly you want to be doing.  The detox will show your mind where it has been getting its dopamine and where it will be getting its dopamine moving forward, while increasing your focus overtime and helping you reach your potential.  Learn to be ok in the discomfort and break free from your old rhythm (ingrain pattern of behavior that your mind would automatic default to)  Eliminating your distractions will increase your awareness. A dopamine detox is a temporary thing but it leads to a new lifestyle of alignment.  How to do a dopamine detox: Let people know what you are about to do.  Cut out all notification on your phone. Leave your phone on a particular spot in your house.  Limit all technology/screen intake. No music, no reading if possible.  Just sit with it.  Connect with Aanghel:  https://www.instagram.com/therealaanghel/ ttps://www.youtube.com/c/aanghel Support the show

S.2 - E.4 - The Voice of the Land with Owen Lindsay
Happy #EarthDay2020Owen Lindsay originally from Oregon shares with us his life journey with his wife Amber and his daughters in Nevada City California.Owen transitioned through being a DJ and a gardener to being a plant communicator and a medicine plant maker growing most of the plants that he and his wife use for the medicines they make.He grew up in the forests of Oregon where his father and grandfather were in the logging business. In the 60 and 70 logging was a way to earn a paycheck. His dad was his first plant teacher. Through long walks in the woods, his father taught him which plants were edible and which plants were poisonous.Mushroom finding was something that he became very attracted too.As a young man he was immersed in the DJ business in Portland, Oregon. It was for him a community service activity as he helped people have a night of fun. He also shared with us that as a DJ he could bring energy into the place. At the age of 22, meditating and repeating a kundalini mantra to a flowerpot, he had a very impressive experience. When opening his eyes he saw that the flower in the pot was transmitting a very high energy, he was connecting to the plant, its colors were brilliant and it was glowing. Then he went for a walk and the same experience happened while looking to other plants and trees. At that time he didn’t like very much the experience, he didn’t know how to internalize the information. Years later, he found out that there were herbalists like Asia Suler and others that were giving courses on plant communication. At that point, he understood the experience he had had many years ago and was very happy that he had found his tribe of plant communicators and that he was not alone. Owen shares with us that in the last few years he has been more proactive communicating with plants and listening to their messages and speaking up for them.To top it off here is gift from Owen, get your boogie on: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7uJGdCWwSwF6sEUG9MGsHQ?si=xXrQax98ShC9Goh5346C8gSupport the show

Ellie Rome, Holistic Health Coach and Nutrition Counselor, Founder of Mindfulbellie, shares with us today her transformational journey of overcoming her sugar addiction and becoming a Health Coaching Practitioner.  She is a Chemical Engineer who became a certified Health Coach after recovering from an autoimmune thyroid condition, chronic fatigue, stubborn weight gain, sugar addiction, IBS, brain fog, acne eczema, and the list goes on.  In college, she started struggling with many health issues, like the ones mentioned above, so she decided to ask for help visiting 6 different conventional doctors. Not having found a solution for the root cause of her problem she visited a naturopath and discovered that her eating habits were one of the main drivers for her health disorders. It was then when she was tested for food sensitivities and discovered that she was sensitive to gluten, dairy, soy, and eggs and started a 3-month diet with no results. Finally, she decided to try again a dairy‐gluten free diet for 30 days, excluding sugar. This diet changed her world, “it was the first time in my life when I didn’t crave sugar which I really thought it was not humanly possible.” By the 30th day, all her symptoms were gone. These results were life changers for Ellie so she decided to dedicate her life to study nutrition and health disorders in-depth to help others with similar problems.
