114- Weekly Updates (April 18-22, 2022)
Dear Families of Room F1, We’re going to have a great upcoming week. Below is a short description of what’s coming up and important links and/or announcements: Watch These Announcements on Video Here Mr. Gray’s Class Podcast Class Website AWISH- April 22nd 5-8pm Monday, May 30th is the Memorial Day Holiday (no school) IPSF Summer Classes and Camps Registration Multiplication and Division Facts Practice Spelling Words - The kids will receive the words Tuesday, practice during the week, and take the quiz on Friday. Follow along with our Wordament! And our Class Chess Tournament! Reader’s Workshop The students will start our next Reader’s Workshop Unit: Mystery (Foundational Skills in Disguise). We will spend the week learning about the characteristics of mystery stories like: trying to solve the mystery before the crime solver does, doing special predicting about suspects, opportunities, and motives, and using strategies when reading gets tough. Writer’s Workshop The kids continue on our next Writer’s Workshop Unit: Changing the World (Persuasive Speeches). The kids will gather brave, bold opinions, practice writing with independence, and consider the audience to say more by asking questions that a reader might ask. Math What happened to math class? The kids will spend the week on our nex unit: Representing Data with Graphs. The kids will learn about picture graphs and bar graphs. They will also make their own survey, collect data and represent that data with picture graphs and bar graphs. Social Studies The kids will spend the week continuing to build out a class understanding of what the responsibilities are of good citizens. Science The kids will start on the next part of our weather unit. For a few weeks we will study severe weather (lightning, floods, wildfires, and more). Next week we will build up our background knowledge about these kinds of severe weather. Thank you, Mr. Gray
