Ep. 21 - Chris's Talking - "Yeah, but..."; A Call for Emotional and Intellectual Maturity [Part Two]
The second of a two-part discussion stemming from the incredible, and almost overwhelming, positive feedback from Episode 18, Episode 21 touches on: - What we do when we encounter those who DON'T want a more emotionally and intellectually mature conversation about difficult issues; - The reason there IS anger amongst so many after witnessing the events of the 2021 U.S. Afghanistan troop "withdrawal" and the resulting humanitarian crisis; and - Who the ONLY people are that can bring about accountability, civility, and righteous leadership during these time. While Part One was more "educational" in tone, Part Two starts to tread into the shallow waters of a "rant" a little bit, but one in which - hopefully - inspires some true reflection, and possible action.

Ep. 20 - Chris's Talking - "Yeah, but..."; A Call for Emotional and Intellectual Maturity [Part One]
The first of a two-part discussion stemming from the incredible, and almost overwhelming, positive feedback from Episode 18, Episode 20 touches on: - The benefit our U.S. veterans did over the past 20 years for the Afghan people, as well as our own (doing almost TOO good of a job!); and - How we avoid "hating" people who might disagree with us, by understanding how the brain structures its own perception of reality in - often times - stark contrast to others [referencing the ideas put forth in Ian McGilchrist's book, "The Master and His Emissary"].

Ep. 18 – Chrissie's Talking - Afghanistan!
This episode has extensive "foul language"...listener discretion advised! I told you earlier that "Chrissie's gonna start talkin'!" and here we are! This is a discussion about current events in Afghanistan, the dark place I was mentally in 2020 during the Antifa/BLM riots, and why I just need to put a voice to all that is in my head at the moment in hopes that if some of you feel this way as well, you'll know you're not alone. I don't know if anything I say in here is "right" but it's how I feel. Let me know what YOU think.

Ep. 14 - Chrissie's Gonna Start Talkin'
2020 was hard on a lot of us. ...Cov!d, riots, the election, etc. How Chris was affected was no different than many of you, but he spent some time trying to wrap his head around why he felt "stopped" and unable to move forward with a lot of creative content in 2020. In this podcast episode, he shares what he discovered for himself, what the direction of the RHR podcast will be/include in 2021 moving forward, and a few thoughts on some of the relevant topics of the day. The Presidential election included. Some will be happy. Others will not. And that's ok. But the truth in topics needs to be talked about, and it's time for ALL of us to stop avoiding "uncomfortable" or "unpopular" topics/discussions out of fear of losing social media likes, or the financial support of a few. ...it's time for Chrissie to Start Talkin'!

Ep. 12 – Running Game Cameras for Elk; Elk Behavior and Seasonal Movement with Jay Scott
Every year about this time, Chris is bombarded with folks asking his opinion/advice regarding running game cameras for elk – most often from folks hunting/scouting on public land, in Over-the-Counter, high-country units. Well... in this podcast... Chris pulls in the expertise of Jay Scott, of Jay Scott Outdoors – who is the Hunting Programs Manager, and general "Elk Manager" of the Aught Six Ranch in South-central Colorado – for his expertise and opinions on elk behavior, movement, and what he sees during his exhaustive 365-day a year game camera survey of the elk utilizing the Ranch that he manages. Buckle up for a GREAT discussion on elk habitat use, movement, and behavior with regard to what we all can – or can't – learn by running game cameras during the summer for elk!

Ep. 11 - Elk Hunting Q&A
In this podcast we'll tackle five fairly common questions that Chris typically gets, with the first one being quite relevant right now given our timing in the "pre-season" scouting schedule many folks might find themselves in. In order, we'll talk about: 1) Opinion on how to hunt numerous wallows/running game cameras for elk under various scenarios, yes or no?; 2) How does a person go about getting the "Chris Roe/RHR signature" Phelps Game Calls Tag-Notcher mouth diaphragm when it's not on the Phelps website?; 3) Campfires during your hunt, yes or no?; 4)"Quartering to you" shot angles on elk, what's the safe angle to take?; and 5) How do you draw on an elk after you "Call 'em to Your Toes" and they are standing point-blank in front of you/at close range?

Ep. 10 - Are You Prepared to Leave Life?
A lot has happened to a lot of us this summer, and Chris's life has been no exception. In this podcast, Chris goes over some of what has consumed his thoughts and mental "focus" since the last podcast aired, and offers a few recommendations for folks as they look to their later years, and that of their parents. The bulk of this is NOT hunting related, BUT...Chris does share a little regarding what's coming next, and how folks might get in on a pretty unique opportunity for deer hunting with Roe Hunting Resources out in NW Kansas this year!

Ep. 9 - Wild Turkey Genetic Research with Amanda Beckman
If you have a 2020 turkey license for KS (and maybe even in other States), you probably received an e-mail from the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism regarding a genetics study regarding wild turkeys, and the opportunity for hunters to participate in that study by providing feather samples from their harvested birds to help increase the overall sample size of birds looked at. In this podcast, Chris sits down and chats with Amanda Beckman, the researcher conducting this project (and others), about the genetics study, how folks can get involved, and a whole bunch of other interesting "animal and turkey behavior" topics. It's a great conversation, so tune in, and we hope you enjoy it!

Ep. 8 - Buying Land? Then Know What You're Getting!
If you're going to buy "hunting land," you need to listen to this podcast FIRST!!! Land agents/Realtors/Auctioneers/etc. are NOT on the side of the BUYER, they're on the side of the SELLER! Here are some of the things you need to think about before putting down your earnest money, or moving forward toward purchasing a piece of ground – especially if you'll be an "absentee landowner."

Ep. 4 - Elk Scouting and Mountain Characteristics
In this episode, Chris covers two different, but related, topics that are always the subject of questions this time of year; namely "how does Chris go about finding a hunting area," and "why aren't elk up in the high country" in certain areas/on certain years? Topics covered include: – different habitats seen in the RHR videos – the initial considerations for finding a hunting area – on-line/3rd party resources that greatly aid in initial "scouting" – when to put boot leather to the ground – spending time/learning your area – plan A areas, vs plan B, C, etc. – viewing mountains as a sponge – how different mountain characteristics can affect vegetation quality in different years – the importance of summer rain on different mountain types – and more! *note: the focus on this video ended up being a little unsteady/variable at times; we'll try to make sure that doesn't happen in the future!
