Chris Hathcock is known as creative mind and songwriter for the progressive metal band, The Reticent. Chris is also known as a Grammy nominated music educator, and is one of the most interesting, and challenging, humans I've met over my years as a performing artist. I've known Chris for awhile now, and in that time, I've fallen in love with his musical projects. I've also witnessed him suffer traumatic loss at an almost legendary scale. Like all of us, Chris has lost family members and friends over the years, including his father, whom Chris was incredibly close. His father's passing has resulted in Chris creating a new album project where he lays his life and feelings bare in the rarest of ways. You want to reach through his songs to help him heal, but wildly enough, the very reason you want to do that IS because his words and theme touch your aching heart as well. It's quite something to experience. So, this said, I can only warn you that today is not your typical light conversation about an upcoming band or a cautionary tale of celebrity. Wowashwow is a foray into a relatively unknown world for me. Growing up, I fancied myself a listener of all types of music... There aren't many surviving old school punk musicians. Many of them have gone on to that great gig in the sky, but those that have survived the last 45 years are the true legacy artists of a long gone generation. Vancouver Canada has a habit of birthing bands that revel in eccentricity. What I find most appealing is that my guests today are really just kind, normal dudes. Okay okay... every once in awhile, I get super nervous doing an interview. It isn't intended, obviously, and my energy goes through the roof, so hang on to your hats, because I'm off the rails today. I was so ecstatic to connect with Greg and Sean from the global supergroup, Vented and it shows. Vented was founded not long ago, and for a brief time, Joey Jordison of Slipknot fame, was a member.
