But such main battle tanks might be considered offensive weapons. Will this lead to an escalation? 2)Will The Russian Federation Break Apart if Putin Loses His War in Ukraine?: There is speculation that Putin's grip on Russia is failing, and he will become more desperate and resort to tactical nukes, etc. But nobody would win. If he loses, could this result in the collapse of the Russian Federation, just like the USSR did in 1991? 3)If China Invades Taiwan, Will The US Freeze China's Assets Held By US Treasury?: Pres. Xi of China has made repeated threats to 'reunify' Taiwan with the mainland. Pres. Biden said we would commit troops to protect Taiwan if China invades. That means US and China could be in a shooting war. Would the US impose economic sanctions that freeze Chinese assets?

Biden.  At that time, he offered Japan to be a bulwark of military support against both China and Russia.   But traditionally, since WWII  Japan has taken a pacifist approach.   What has changed?  3) Who is New Russian General Valery Gerasimov?:  Putin replaced Gen.  Sergey Surovikin , ---a Russian Air Force Commander who was known for his brutality in the war in Syria, ---after only three months on the job.  Putin just assigned Gen. Gerasimov,--- currently First Deputy Minister of Defense and Military Chief of Staff---, to run the war in Ukraine.  Should we be worried? 4)  Is Putin Making a Play to Win Turkey As New Russian Ally?:   Turkey's President Erdogan has been playing a 'middle ground' strategy between NATO and Russia, helping to broker a grain deal from the Black Sea,  but shipping Turkish drones to Ukraine.   Now Putin is holding talks with Syria and Turkey, trying to broker a peace deal between them that would allow  3.6 million Syrian refugees living in Turkey to return to Syria.  Why is he helping now?

Read on for today's agenda below prepared by David (thank you very much). - Retired US Diplomat to 5 different nations  David Hunter shares his knowledge, passion, interest, and experience.1) Will Russia Halt It's War in Ukraine in 2023?:  After ten months of combat, Russia is stretched thin with supply of rockets and drones, being forced to buy some from North Korea and Iran.  Putin just drafted some 300,000 new 'enlistees', being rushed to the front with little or no training,  and lack of  winter equipment.  On New Years Eve, Ukraine rockets killed or wounded hundreds of Russian troops in their barracks.   Can Putin keep up his offensive much longer?   2)  Are Chinese -Russian Relations Getting Warmer?:  Putin held a video summit w/ Pres. Xi on Dec 30th, 2022. and invited Xi to visit him in Moscow next spring. Is this a new axis of evil?  What is going on?  3)  Is Mainland China Going to Invade Taiwan in 2023?:  The US Biden administration has committed $10 billion in new military support for Taiwan.  In 2022, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited that island personally, to great protest of PRC President Xi. Are there any indications the situation is reaching a boiling point? 4)  Will North Korea do a Nuclear Weapons Test in 2023?:  Dear Leader Kim Jung Un has been testing missiles at a furious rate in 2022, but has thus far not openly tested a nuclear bomb since 2017.   Do you think he will do so in 2023, and if so, what will be the consequences?

Is  Brazil's democracy under threat?   2)Is Iran Planning to Assassinate Donald Trump?:   We have just passed the 3ed anniversary of the US assassination of Al Quds leader, General Qassem Soleimani.  He was killed by a Trump-ordered drone attack inside Iraq, while officially invited to that country to meet Iraqi Prime Minister Abdul-Madhi.    While not a head of state, Soleimani was an Iranian government official on diplomatic assignment, so this Trump-ordered attack was controversial.  Is Iran justified in striking Trump in retaliation?   3)Israel and US  Expanding Military Cooperation?:  Even as a Prime Minister Bibi Netenyahu's Zionist-led coalition has taken control in Israel, the US military seems to be expanding ties with Israel's  Defense Force (IDF).   Is it wise for America to be expanding military ties to Israel right now? What if Israel launches a 'preemptive' attack on Iran?

What are the complications of this 'hostage transaction' for US-Russia relations?  Why was ex-US Marine Paul Whelan left out of this exchange? 2) Chinese President Xi  Travels to Middle East:  Pres. Xi spent several days in the Middle East last week, meeting with heads of state including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia.  Why did Xi make this trip now, and does this symbolize a historic realignment in China's relations with the Middle East? Will the US lose influence?  3) UN International Human Rights Day:  The United Nations honors respect for Human Rights on December 10th of each year since 1950.  The UN Has a High Commissioner for Human Rights.  What is this all about?  4) Political Prisoners We Need to Remember:  As we approach the end of 2022, we should take stock of various political prisoners being held around the world who support democracy and are in prison for advocating for democratic freedoms and human rights.   Who are some of these 'fighters for freedom and dignity' who follow in the path of Gandhi and Martin Luther King?

Biden said he would be willing to talk to Putin about ending the war in Ukraine.  But Putin is insisting he will only talk if no preconditions are required, like his agreeing to withdraw from already captured and annexed territory.  So are 'peace talks' really possible? 2)Mysterious Blasts Occurred at Russian Strategic Bomber Bases?:  Four hundred miles inside Russia, several blasts have occurred at Russian air bases where bombers are located.  In one case, several Russians were killed.  Ukraine has hinted that some of the missiles fired at Ukraine are being returning to their firing bases to explode.   Does this mean Ukraine has taken control of some Russian rockets? 3)Pakistan Ambassador to Afghanistan Survives Assassination Attempt:   Pakistani Ambassador Ubed Nazammi narrowly escaped assassination inside his embassy compound in Kabul, Afghanistan.  He was grazed and one of his accompanying  guards was killed.  But aren't the Taliban and Pakistan friends?  So who shot at him? 4) Pearl Harbor Day---Are We Ready for Another Attack?:   The Dec. 7th  Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii was a 'wake up call' for Americans.   It showed we don't live in isolation.  Enemies can attack us at will. We were not prepared to fight.    What have we learned from this, and are we ready to respond to another surprise attack?
