In this foray into ecological restoration topics, we talk with Jim Root from the Klamath River Renewal Corporation (KRRC) and discuss the status of the project and various parts they have finished, are working on, and are yet to be completed before the final takedown in 2023.

Another installment and this one is on river restoration! The Salt River used to be over 200-feet wide and host ship based transport for canneries, timber, and travel. Then it was barely more than a ditch surrounded by willow and agricultural fields. Flooding on county roads and pasture limited access in the area and created a whole suite of problems. The Humboldt County Resource Conservation District is now engaged in a multi-year, multi-phased project that is restoring the Salt River. It is one of the biggest restoration projects on the west coast of the United States in a small rural community, and spans seven miles.
