On the Glow Up
To those of you on the path to your glow up, girl, I see you. By tooth and nail, I see you fighting for your life the best ways you can. You are coming to terms with those uncomfortable triggers and events that have followed you to this very moment. Your intersections are all jacked up with an 'I Need Help' here, an 'I Thought I Healed This' there, and an 'I Can't Handle This Alone But I Have to be Strong' everywhere. The road to healing, peace, beauty, and righteousness isn't paved with gold, but you've committed to the bravery it takes to march. I know you want to just be okay and live your best life. You look and smell good, and plaster beautiful smiles on your face every day, only to learn time and time again that things aint always sweet. You might've recently found yourself in a familiar pattern or cycle, except this time, you're conscious about how you got there. And by God, you're trying to get and stay out of that space and that place! You're practicing accountability, awareness, and doing the hard work of breaking old habits. This takes courage, resilience, patience, and time. You are not alone. It is REAL out here. But please know that you are seen, felt, and loved. God Bless.

E1: The Formation
Welcome to the Resident Sis podcast, the homegirl headquarters for Black millennial women experiencing daily America. My name is Ariel C. Williams, and I’m your host, hype woman, and — you guessed it — homegirl in your head. I’ve been on the internet for real for real since 2006, back when social media became real. It wasn’t until 2012 that I decided to cut a slice of the cyberspace pie and call it mine with my first ever personal blog Ariel Says Now. (Girl, if you’ve been following me since then, whew Chile, thank you. Both the struggle and the growth processes are real!) A now defunct blog, it stretched and pulled me in ways that I wasn’t quite ready for. For one, it confirmed that I wanted to be a writer, that I had a lot to say, and that people were crazy enough to actually listen. That scared me. For two, it was a sharp reminder that though my dream was slowly becoming realized and validated that I wasn’t brave enough to give it my all…because you know, bills and a then 2-year-old child. But let’s keep it positive. That blog launched a writing career for me. Whether through words, digital management, event curation, or creative brainstorming, I've worked with some amazing brands and businesses, and started my own. You know, more and more things to stretch and grow a sister, whether I wanted to do it or not. You might have read my debut book, which still has a pending follow up by the way (my bad girl!), The Girl Talk Chronicles: Advice on How to Manage Love, Lust & Situations on Amazon, and have seen me grow via my blogs Slay Culture and ArielCWilliams.com. If you’re local to my area, you might have attended a women inspired event produced by my event series One 4 Us Events. (Follow us on IG by the way!) If we’re connected online, you know I’m a lion-tiger-bear mama to an amazing son, and have a deep love for brown pupils. Many of whom call me Ms. Ari at my daily 9 to 5. But enough about me. Now 7 years later, I’m am launching yet another passion project, this podcast — Resident Sis, a name with meaning I feel represents me and the amazing women in my life so well. The shoulder-ers. The mountain movers. The figure-er outers. The back bones. The silly, vulnerable, in your face, knows what she wants but is still trying to make it make sense women. But most importantly, the got your back sisters. All of this? This is for you! Like most of the things I put out into the world, this podcast is an ode to Black women — a group that I hold so near and dear to my heart. In a world fixated on challenging both the existence and brilliance of Black women, Resident Sis offers engaging and comedic segments dripping in Black Girl Magic. From conversations on self-discovery and acceptance in the digital age to identifying with the latest trends and movements and pop culture, this podcast is a fun safe space to just be. Join us as we discuss self-care, navigating friendships and relationships, whatever the hell situation-ships are these days, workplace politics and more in that funny witty way only sisters can. If no one has told you today, I gotchu sis! Lets get our shit together…together. If you’ve enjoyed this introductory episode, please subscribe to the podcast on Apple podcasts, Google Play, Soundcloud, and Spotify. Submit a review — let me know if you’re picking up what the girl is putting down, OKAY?! Follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook at @ResidentSis.
