17. Interview: Todd Waldron from the N.Y. Chapter of BHA talks publics lands.
I hope that the topic we share here on the Red Hill View will inspire you to try new things in the outdoors and give you different technics that will enhance your skill level. In researching topics and ideas for the show I try to find people that can enrich your outdoor experience. This week I wanted to find someone that will give you a better understanding of our public lands and how to use them. So for some help, I reach out to Backcountry Hunters and Anglers. They pointed me in the direction of Todd Waldron who is part of the New York Chapter of BHA. We talk some about how the outdoors became part of his life and then we explore our public lands along with what they offer. #15 Interview with Josh and Kaitlin Woodward
This week I was able to interview Josh and Kaitlin from Team Woodward, who share their life together in the outdoors. I first contacted Kaitlin after I saw her Instagram account. Seeing how she enjoys the outdoors and likes to share her enjoyment of it, I thought it would be good to direct message her to see if she would share her stories with the Red Hill Community. With a reply from Kaitlin asking if the interview could include Josh I could see how much enjoyment she gets from the outdoors is enhanced from the people she spends her time with. It did not take long to have the desire to share their story with the Red Hill Community. With another direct message, I was able to set up an interview with Josh and Kaitlin. This week I was able to interview Steve, Who created and setup Live Wild Eat Wild. I first contacted Steve after I saw his Instagram account. Seeing his feed on intsagram it not only made me hungry but made me want to see how he created some of the dishes he posted. So I direct messaged him to see if he would share how he makes some of them. With a reply from Steve I found out about the website he put together. It did not take long to look over the site to have the desire to share it with the Red Hill Community. With another direct message I was able to set up an interview with Steve. This week I was able to interview DR. Nicole Aplian, Who appeared on the History Channel television show Alone. I first contacted Nicole after I saw one of her posts on Facebook where she talked about a visit back to her campsite from the show. After Nicole got back to me with a yes for an interview I started researching her more and found out just how deep nature runs in her life. It did not take long to realize that an interview with Nicole would be more then just about her appearance on the TV show Alone. The interview explored Nicole's up bringing with the outdoors and how her life journey took her all over the world. I first came across Hank from a Meat Eater episode he did with Steven Rinella. Hank really grabbed my attention when I heard him on a couple of different podcasts. That is where his whole background of being a gatherer, hunter and cook was reveled to me. The interview explored Hank's up bringing on the East coast and how his life's journey took him from being a cook and political reporter to the life he now lives on the West coast. His outdoor journey started in Glouster Mass. which is the base of how he views his outdoor lifestyle. He explains how the outdoors are made up of three parts; gathering, fishing, and hunting. After we chatted some about his life and background, we dove into what Hank is best know for, his gathering, hunting and cooking skills.
