Podcast 153 - Your Niche - Why You Not Change It & How To Get More Successful In It Why are you uncertain about your niche? As a Recruitment / Search business owner, you have 2 drivers that can position you to your client: 1st is your Recruitment / Search experience and 2nd is your industry experience. When we talk about a niche, there are 2 elements: The actual niche itself The experience as a Recruitment / Search expert When you have a question about the niche, that question is probably derived from you being uncertain about how you can achieve a million this year in that niche. You’re uncertain because of these 2 things: The niche is unstable or Your last 90 days or 6 months results are unstable What comes to your mind is likely... 2 years ago your business was doing well but now your business is at its lowest, it must be the niche. So, you will come up with an answer that maybe we need to change the niche. This is completely cool. HOWEVER, great success is not going on to a new niche. Time Management For Recruitment Business Owners The majority of Recruitment / Search business owners struggle to manage their time. Why is that, what’s the problem, and how do you fix it? The problem is you don’t have enough time in your life, you don’t have time to do something new, not enough time to get some air because the Recruitment / Search business is a reactive business. How was your team set up in the last 12 months and how is your team going to be set up in the next 12 months to double the trouble? It Is Fixable (Recruitment Entrepreneurship)
It Is Fixable (Recruitment Entrepreneurship) Where you are now? And where you want to be in 1 year? You may be in a good place right now because you made that work and you did it well. Breaking Feast And Famine In Your Recruitment Bank Account
Breaking Feast And Famine In Your Recruitment Bank Account Feast And Famine is a term that one of my members used about 4 years ago, he joined us doing around 250K-300K in a previous decade or so. This is something I see in the Recruitment / Search business over and over again, you can probably relate to it. It comes with 2 key drivers: 1. Feast And Famine Mindset which is we’re doing the same thing in Recruitment. 2. You need clients and candidates leads, convert both and Deliver the candidates. Watch the full video here: The Laptop Recruiter™ Facebook Group Feast And Famine, first of all, is whereby we have good months and bad months, and we are just not breaking that pattern. With Feast And Famine what we find is: 1. You go to a feast phase which is you are getting paid. Now, every course is affected. 2. And then the Famine situation, as entrepreneurs we might have consistency in our business. But what we got is a Feast and Famine. As an entrepreneur, you need to ask yourself if your model is working or not. If it’s working, fabulous, you do more with what’s working. If it doesn’t deliver the outcome you want, then your model is not working. As Recruitment / Search entrepreneurs, as we get older we learn that we want to have more predictability. When you have more predictability you will have a better result and that predictability comes about by having more control. However, it’s your business and you need to decide if you’re going to change it or stay on it as a plateau in 10 years, it might have been going down as of now. It’s up to you as an entrepreneur. Podcast 138 - Should I Go Into Partnership In My Recruitment Business?
Should I Go Into Partnership In My Recruitment Business? Big questions. “Andy, Should I go into partnership with my buddy, colleague, business acquaintance?” “Andy, I have gone into a partnership and now I am in a less than optimal position. What do I do next?” When It comes to the partnership the first thing to do is to view a worst-case scenario. Be aware that things will always change, so start thinking. When this trigger happens, what actions can be executed? I have shared my thoughts and my own experiences of working with dozens of partnerships plus a host of boards. In partnership, always start with the end of the mind. In worst-case scenarios what happens if we get extremely successful and they sh*t on me? What legal position am I in? What are the legalities in separating? What are the triggers to executing a legal step? Would I recommend partnership? Probably Not. I’m not saying that it will not work, of course, it works. I have witnessed some of the best partnerships that do work. Partnerships can work but personally being a single entrepreneur with a strong team around you is the best. Be the master of your own destiny. As Joe Rogan says, Keep hammering! If you have any question, comment down below! The Laptop Recruiter™

Podcast 137 - 3 Year Plan For Your Recruitment Business - Steps
3 Year Plan For Your Recruitment Business - Steps What is your plan or vision for your recruitment business? What is your goal? Usually when an owner comes to me the first goal is financial. And so it should be. The next is the model of the business. I have shared and explained the things I have seen in the entrepreneurship industry over the last decade. From the successful ones who start from nothing and they build into 7 figure businesses. The traits of the fast movers and the lessons and warning signs on what not to do as a recruitment entrepreneur. Often a business plan will be sent to me. 99.9% of the time these are as useful as a sunscreen in the UK……. I explain what I have seen first hand for businesses who have broken through 7 figures as a one person business. 1. They worked to a plan 30 Days, 90 Days, 1 Year and 3 Years plan 2. They become part of the community. They didn’t just ask questions but they also shared - the power of the group is always more powerful than the one 3. They accepted they did not know it all - and that’s why they came to us - Do not kill yourself trying to learn what you need to do. Someone’s already done it. Learning is a big reason why I manage a group since the team teaches one another. The 4 Plan we operate: 1. A 3-year vision 2. A 1-year tactical plan 3. A 90-day campaign plan 4. A 30-day metrics plan Through that 4 step plan, you will understand what you’re building. Without that your months become years and your years become decades. 99% of your business should be based on metrics, if you have metrics you can know what the problem is. If you know what the problem is, then you can fix it. Everything you have now as a problem, you can fix it. Create your plan and be hard on yourself, don't let it drift over. As I say on the video. At the end of the day your mortgage lender will not care about excuses. Let me know what are your questions in the comment below! Andy Whitehead The Laptop Recruiter™

Podcast 135 - Candidates Made Simple - Search OR Recruitment
In your Recruitment / Search Business, you need 1. The role, T&C’s signed. Ideally retained and high fee 2. The matching candidate, top 2-5%, probably passive, and a direct match for the client, role and culture. Whether you’re a Recruitment or Search business, there is a finite number of candidates who are qualified for that role. As a Recruitment / Search Business Owner or Desk Owner, you need to know what that number is AND have them in your ecosystem. We live in a digital age. Getting all of those in your ecosystem is a must, without it. You are behind the curve ball from the start. You are old school. Candidates should not be complex, but we’re making it complex. Getting them the Recruitment 4.0 way is the methodology - watch how and why The Laptop Recruiter™. As a recruitment entrepreneur, you need to be aware of what your constraints are. But candidates really shouldn’t be one. Don’t complicate getting candidates. Comment your thoughts below! Andy Whitehead - The Laptop Recruiter™

Podcast 134 - Your Recruitment Niche Is No! Here's Why!
If you’re thinking that your niche is the problem, and you decide either “You don’t want to change niche” or “You don’t know the niche”. If you’re thinking niche will be the savior to you, cause things are not working now, remove that. There are many ways to analyze how you're going to operate, but you need to be clear about what niche you intend to work within. Usually, the problem is NOT the niche. I have shared this video explaining why you’re niche is not the problem. How you’re operating your niche now is how you will be operating your new niche. Check out the video here The Laptop Recruiter™. If you’re a single entrepreneur it’s even tougher now, what you will do is find an excuse to push things back. So, what you need to do on your niche is: Do an inventory on how you operate as a Recruitment Entrepreneur Why are you shifting from this niche to that niche? Think of the benefits you'll get from this, as well as the downside.

Podcast 144 - How To 5x Your LinkedIn Revenue Numbers
How To 5x Your LinkedIn Revenue Numbers Some of you may have already changed your LinkedIn restriction numbers, but others may not have. This is a hot topic on LinkedIn, and all I want to do now is go through a summary of the scaling framework for LinkedIn. Watch the full video here: The Laptop Recruiter™ Facebook Group One of the things I have seen over the years is we don’t have a base script of fundamentals outcomes. We always have conversion between all the steps. On each different strategy you practice, you will have a handful of strategy and you become world-class and efficient. What we get from Linkedin is the efficiency whether it is a one-person LinkedIn or a large business. Just focus on your outcome: 1. Revenue 2. Profit To fill these roles you need Clients and Candidates. All Businesses are using LinkedIn to market. To get Revenue using LinkedIn you need to understand some principles: 1. What is your niche? You need to understand your niche, 2. How many clients are there in your market? LinkedIn is a saturation point of user versus revenue. We want to get LinkedIn constructive in a very simple fashion. Podcast 142 - Low $100k's to $1M - What To Do & What Not To Do
Low $100k's to $1M - What To Do & What Not To Do Breaking from low 6 figures into 7 figures is a difficult jump. You may be following me for a while now. Been reading my emails.. Or have listened to my podcasts. In these sessions, you may have seen one person do RRRR, saw someone else did the webinar strategy, and another used the CAS strategy. And asking yourself so what is it? What really is the tool or the strategy that will help you make that jump? Here are some key lessons that I've seen from our Inner Circle members who've made the jump from low 6 figures into pass 7 figures over the years. 1. Those who did it are direct, have accountability, have the ability to say ""I fucked up"", and at one time challenged me if I knew my stuff. 2. They all have the drive to change something in their business which means they would do things outside of their comfort zone. 3. They have built a habit of making a 30-day cycle in their Recruitment Search business. 4. When they came to us, they'd already accepted that the old model of Recruitment has changed. I covered in this video more in-depth key lessons that I've seen my members did in order to make that jump That jump is based on a plan, execution, feedback on that execution or metrics, and then implementing on that feedback. This pretty much boils down into 3 things: 1. Accountability 2. Acceptance that the model's fucked and 3. Drive to make a change Hopefully, this has been of use to you. And remember... You're a business owner. You need to get paid. The Laptop Recruiter™ Comment down your question or feel free to message me privately. Andy Whitehead

Podcast 141 - The Laptop Recruiter Business Owner Life - Real or Myth - 10 Years Evidence
The Laptop Recruiter Business Owner Life - Real or Myth - 10 Years Evidence Laptop Recruitment. Is it possible? This is actually something that I started probably 8 or 9 years ago. When I quit the corporate world and started this life, I didn't have a mentor. There's no one out there who built systems or did some mapping for me. It was difficult and I had so many reasons to give up. But somewhere in my mind, I said ""no"". There's no way I'm going to work for the man and work in an office and do the commuting. So, I created this life for myself. And in this video, I'm going to share with you how I did it. Is Laptop Recruitment possible or is it just a myth? The Laptop Lifestyle was, for me, the ability to earn a lot more than I was earning, while working in the corporate world, by working a lot less. We are in a world whereby pretty much everything is online. And I am not saying that the Laptop Recruiter Model is like hitting a big red button and then you get a business from doing nothing to $100k, $100K to $500K, $500K to $1M. No! What I'm saying is, if you come from a traditional model there are a lot of opportunities out there that you are missing. Podcast 139 - Mental Health In Recruitment Entrepreneurs - How You Feel - This Is What Is Normal
Mental Health In Recruitment Entrepreneurs - How You Feel - This Is What Is Normal Mental health is the most important thing, this is what I realized over the last 12 years. Moreso again in the last 18 months having worked closely with my members. A healthy mind drives the way we think, the way we verbalise, and the way we act. Thoughts and your mind is your strongest weapon. It’s also your biggest enemy. This topic is very important to all Recruitment Search Entrepreneurs out there. It is my hope that some of the entrepreneurs struggling with mental health may find help in this video. Not often we speak about these things openly. Recruitment is tough. Working alone or working from home is tough for a lot. So how do we get through the hard times. How do we sharpen our recruiting entrepreneurial minds? 1. Acceptance. Accept that everything is not always going to be perfect. You will encounter success and also losses. Candidates will go missing. You want to find the trigger so this can be prevented and implement a process so it doesn't keep happening. But accept it has. And fix it. 80% of what the solution ideally would be is good enough to begin. 2. Thousands of people have already gotten to where you want to go before you. Lean into that. It’s not as big a task as you think it is. 3. You need to Adapt. You will try something new and you will not succeed on your first try. But that’s completely normal. Adapt. 5 Steps forward. 1 back. INPUT PROCESS OUTPUT Do this with your mind. Keep putting good stuff in. Watching positive YouTube videos or reading positive phrases is not the only thing you need to get your mind to work. You need more than that. Daily action. The main thing that will be going to harden you up and get through whatever you’re going through is Momentum. That means: 1. Doing things that you don’t want to do (cold shower to start the day with…) 2. Knowing that things will not work the first time generally - the successful recruiters I respect are those that get smart is key - work smart - new tactics mean new learning 3. Knowing that someone else doing is better than you are, but you have your own goal - for now. As your progress you will subconsciously set a bigger goal for yourself. You’re a recruitment entrepreneur - special breed. With the Mental Health thing, we are isolated. Use this group. Everything you’re going through someone else has gone through before. Podcast 145 - The Automation Rules For Recruitment Search Owner Director Success
The Automation Rules For Recruitment Search Owner Director Success I just want to share with you a briefing about Automation. I want to simplify the Automation you need inside your Recruitment / Search Business. Just to be clear, you can Automate anything nowadays. So, be aware of the white lie that Automation saves your time. Every cause has an effect, so if you spent time trying to build this Automation, your time is NOT spent on another task. Don’t forget what the OUTCOME is, it’s about getting paid. Getting paid falls into 2 brackets: 1. You’re creating a business that brings predictable cash each month and each year 2. You’re creating an asset you can sell or exit. But, either way, remember your outcome, GET PAID. So, many people get lost in shiny objects. In Automation, what are we really looking to do here? Qualified leads en mass and High caliber candidates. We want to make sure that Automation is actually doing the right thing, there are 2 types of Automation that we should be thinking about: 1. Campaign Automation - You need Clients and Candidates NOW 2. Nurturing Automation - Day 14 to Day 365 Automation is about doing less. Remember in Recruitment / Search our job is even tougher because we’ve got almost 2 services, we’ve got to get Clients and Candidates. Automation is about being efficient and trying to simplify your world. Don't forget to message me directly or comment below your question! Andy Whitehead - The Laptop Recruiter™

Podcast 146 - Crush Your Competition and Get More High Fee Roles
Crush Your Competition and Get More High Fee Roles Essentially, what most Recruitment / Search business owners do, is generate Client & Candidate leads, Convert the Client and Candidate leads and Deliver the candidates. Most businesses I know are better off focusing on getting a retained business rather than creating a systemized automated piece. Watch the video here: The Laptop Recruiter™ Facebook Group How do you convert more? I will be talking about the idea of a bigger picture and the concept that you will “Get Paid More”. When you get to that point then you will get a retained business and you get paid more. The outcome you should have: 1. You want to be the “no brainer” option to your clients 2. Get that first role with a new client and then you’ve got to deliver 3. Getting higher fees If you want to get higher fees in a niche and you want to be retained, the things you should understand are: 1. Your clients have other options: they have other Recruitment / Search Businesses that they can choose from. 2. Whether they are a one-man business themselves or a 30 billion pound a year corporate they’ve always got some form of internal recruitment: Human Resource, Talent Acquisition, or DIY (Do it yourself recruitment) 3. They’ve got a Preferred Supplies List You may be scared of being different but the reason why you are not converting more is that you are doing the same as everyone else.
