After a long time away, we've finally returned to our regular rotation of comic book TV shows. Up this week is, of course, Supergirl and The Flash, because how could it be anything else? Supergirl has been quietly having a solid sophomore season and that continued with its latest, character-drive installment. On the other side, The Flash has frustrated us with yet another speedster villain, but it regained its charm in the excellent, and we mean EXCELLENT, special musical crossover episode. Last week, one of our most anticipated shows of the year dropped with... a thud. Marvel's latest Netflix drama, Iron Fist, does not reach the high bar set by the previous entries in the Defenders saga, but not all is hopeless. While the show had many problems, it also displayed a few flashes of brilliance, particularly with Jessica Henwick's performance as Colleen Wing and Rosario Dawson's always excellent Night Nurse, Claire Temple. But the overall product was far from our expectations, and amounted to a missed opportunity for Marvel to deliver a truly interesting, and fresh, take on Danny Rand. Enjoy the show! Powerless is a silly, but well-written comedy that, unlike most comic book TV shows, doesn't take the existence of superheroes too seriously.
