Episode 67: Dino Beach Houses
After what can only be described as a dismal first season, Legends of Tomorrow found a groove in its sophomore go-around, managing to become one of the more solid performers on The CW week to week. With its second season wrapping this week, we take a look back and breakdown how the show was able to improve the way it did. Send us your thoughts at recapepodcast@gmail.com! Episode 66: Adrian Chasin' Oliver Queen
After a long time away, we drop in on Arrow to see how season five is shaping up. The Prometheus saga has been far better than last year's Damien Darhk debacle, but is it truly a return to form for the series? Send us your thoughts at recapepodcast@gmail.com! Episode 65: This Whole Episode Should Be About Jeremy Jordan
After a long time away, we've finally returned to our regular rotation of comic book TV shows. Up this week is, of course, Supergirl and The Flash, because how could it be anything else? Supergirl has been quietly having a solid sophomore season and that continued with its latest, character-drive installment. On the other side, The Flash has frustrated us with yet another speedster villain, but it regained its charm in the excellent, and we mean EXCELLENT, special musical crossover episode. Episode 64: Marvel's Iron Fist Is One Huge Missed Opportunity
Last week, one of our most anticipated shows of the year dropped with... a thud. Marvel's latest Netflix drama, Iron Fist, does not reach the high bar set by the previous entries in the Defenders saga, but not all is hopeless. While the show had many problems, it also displayed a few flashes of brilliance, particularly with Jessica Henwick's performance as Colleen Wing and Rosario Dawson's always excellent Night Nurse, Claire Temple. But the overall product was far from our expectations, and amounted to a missed opportunity for Marvel to deliver a truly interesting, and fresh, take on Danny Rand. Enjoy the show! Episode 63: Logan and Our Ability to Watch Movies Lifespans
On the podcast this week, we tackle the latest comic book movie to hit theatres, Hugh Jackman's brutal, brilliant swan song as Wolverine, Logan. Send us your thoughts at recapepodcast@gmail.com! Episode 62: Batman Is My Cuzbro
For the second week in a row, we're taking on a brand new show! This week is all about Powerless, the new sitcom from NBC based in the DC universe. Powerless is a silly, but well-written comedy that, unlike most comic book TV shows, doesn't take the existence of superheroes too seriously. After watching three episodes, we see a lot of potential, but also a chance for the show to quickly fall in a rut. Send us your thoughts at recapepodcast@gmail.com! Episode 61: Legion and the Beast
The show is dedicated this week to Legion, the new FX drama from Noah Hawley centered on mutant David Haller, the son of Charles Xavier. The first episode is a fast-paced onslaught of trippy visuals and nonlinear storytelling. What's real and what's not is up in the air, lending the new show a lot of mystery, but also a lot of uncertainty. In Episode 61, we take a look at Legion's pilot; how well did it introduce the series, and where does it go from here? Send us your thoughts at recapepodcast@gmail.com! Episode 60: Battle of the Nemesi
After a rocky start last week, The Flash finds its form with its latest episode, an hour that had great action and humor, plus a good dose of heart. On the other side of the episode is Supergirl, which has yet to fully breakthrough in its second season. Its latest entry was overstuffed, attempting to fit too many important storylines into one hour. Send us your thoughts at recapepodcast@gmail.com! Episode 59: Superheroes Do Superhero Stuff
After a long hiatus, we anticipated the return of The Flash and Arrow with fervor. Unfortunately, neither episode succeeded in matching our energy, with each delivering hours that were sloppy in parts, and lacking excitement. Despite leaving much to be desired, the midseason premieres of The Flash and Arrow did offer some important progression, like an increased focus on Curtis' technological expertise. Episode 54: Agents Says Goodbye to a Ghost, Arrow Brings One Back
December means midseason finales and this week was chock full of them! On our first episode breaking down midway points, we take a look at Agents of SHIELD, which put a bow on its excellent Ghost Rider arc and Arrow, which delivered perhaps its best episode in years plus one hell of a cliffhanger. Episode 53: Dominators Get Dominated
It's crossover week! In this episode of Recape, we take on the massive four-part crossover on The CW! It was a huge event that saw our ever-growing roster of heroes take on the Dominators, a devious alien race hellbent on ridding the world of metahumans. Episode 52.2: Anti-Flasher and Dwarf Star Morons
Our second episode of the week is dedicated to Arrow's new star, Dolph Lundgren, who brought a ray of light to an otherwise forgettable hour. In the second half, we continue to grapple with Legends of Tomorrow, a show that is best watched with your brain turned off, but contains such stupidity that it's difficult not to question everything. Episode 52.1: Guardian Sex Panther and The Flash Goes Boldly Where It Always Has
The first episode of Recape this week sings the praises of Supergirl, which delivered its best episode of the season and the best comic book TV hour of the week. On the flip side, we question the villain unveil on The Flash, and what it means for the rest of the season. Send us your thoughts at recapepodcast@gmail.com! Episode 51: Time MacGyver and Citizen Sugar Cane
After several weeks off the docket, the time has come to see what is happening in season two of Legends of Tomorrow. We tackle three episodes in this edition of Recape, which included some big development for the Legends team, including Nate Heywood's birth as Citizen Steel. Apologies for the audio quality on Eric's feed, he was once again fooled by the audio recording software gremlin known as Audacity. Send us your thoughts at recapepodcast@gmail.com! We made it to Episode 50! For the half-century mark, we're breaking down the latest entry in the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Strange. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch (or is it Benerino Cucumberpatch?), Doctor Strange is a quick moving, efficient origin story. How does it stack up to the rest of the MCU? Listen to find out! Episode 49.2: Mad Subtitles and Alien Roulette
Gotham (2:19) continues on its path of slow improvement in the latest episode, seemingly taking two steps forward and one step back. Meanwhile, Supergirl (23:00) continues to intrigue with its larger storylines, but can't nail the little things. Our second episode of the week covers The Flash and Arrow.
