episode 23- like mike
Welcome back!! Sorry we've been out of commission and inconsistent. I think we've now settled on the idea that we'll try to push one out ever month. It seems more realistic anyhow!! It's not easy trying to listen and then pull everything you've heard together. We have heard some very good things lately, and as it's episode #23, we wanted to focus on the best of Mike. A healthy balance of jams and straight forward bluegrass, all starting with one of the first awe-inspiring "Mike's--Groove." It's direct and incedibly tight! I also took it upon myself to throw in the YEM at the end of this episode, and I want to encourage you to listen through the vocal jam, as it's very well done. Please let us know your thoughts and what you might like to hear in the future. Hope to get back to you in mid-April. Until then, enjoy the mild end to winter and March...out like a lamb. facebook us!! 3:18 mike's song 11/28/92 Portchester, NY 12:39 i am hydrogen 11/28/92 Portchester, NY 16:33 weekapaug groove 11/28/92 Portchester, NY 21:59 ginseng sullivan 8/28/93 Berkeley, CA 24:59 emotional rescue 11/21/97 Hampton, VA 41:54 uncle pen 4/18/90 Denver, CO 46:07 rock 'n roll-- 8/5/2011 George, WA 66:22 meatstick-- 8/5/2011 George, WA 75:02 boogie on reggae woman 8/5/2011 George, WA 83:32 you enjoy myself 12/8/99 Portland, M

Hi All, Sorry for the delay. We've had a busy start to this school year and have failed to make good on our hopes to publish an episode every other week. Maybe this will make our lists of NYE resolutions but don't hold your breath. We're using chapters again, so you can skip through the tunes as you like. episode 21-blowin’ it up to the bunny
as Super Bal IX came to fruition, clew and i wanted to pay tribute to one of our favorite memories from past festivals: the bunny. more specifically, 'from the archives' and k. shapiro. since starting this hobby last june, we have called upon shapiro's help again and again. he puts the hop in our bunny. immitation is the greatest form of flattery, and on our first anniversary we want to blow it up to the bunny with thanks and praise. by chance, this episode almost follows chronological order. we want to give you our favorite flavors 'from the archives' and hopefully you'll let us know what you think. i ended up hearing the reba yesterday and couldn't resist including. although it's the first live reba, it's outstanding. most importantly though, it's imperfect. there are some problems at different points, for sure. it seems even in the '90s there were flubs... 3:48 shaggy dog 8/21/87 Hebron, NY 7:16 divided sky 8/3/91 Auburn, ME 19:44 reba 10/1/89 Burlington, VT 31:51 shock the monkey jam 8/17/93 Kansas City, KS 42:42 dog log/funky bitch 12/6/97 Auburn Hills, MI 49:15 ghost--> 7/4/99 Atlanta, GA 62:45 slave 7/4/99 Atlanta, GA 73:57 amazing grace 5/8/93 Durham, NH facebook us people! leave us some comments! blow us up! as always, our thanks and appreciation for your tuning in, turning on and dropping out.

episode 20- Sign Tour
With the first leg of Summer 2011 now just behind us, it was clear that one of the problems was people having trouble seeing clearly at the start of sets and between songs. A special thanks to all of you holding signs. 'Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs.' If you don't know what we're talking about, please check out this vid. Clew and I wanted to put together a quick best of leg I. Here' you'll find some fun playing and some technical, heady jams. All in all, we were impressed. They've reinvented their sound again, and we like it. We hope you do as well. Please leave us a comment to let us know what you think and check us out over on facebook. If this is what we've got so far in 2011, we're confident that the Super Ball and leg 2 will be that much more! Happy listening!!!

episode 19- Saratoga on my Mind
Happy summer tour to all you folks! And although SPAC was left off the list because of their scrutiny over the party scene (listen to the Makisupa from 6/20/2010), I wanted to revisit the many trips I've made out to Saratoga to see phish and more importantly, my family in the area. It's not been easy times for them lately, and I want to make sure they know how much I've been thinking about them and sending all the hope out I can. Patrick, Michelle and Brian we love you all in so many ways. I'm forever grateful and thankful that our lives have crossed paths time and time again. On weekends when phish was in town, their house served as a home base to many, and they are always the most gracious hosts! One of my favorite stories about this dear friend involved him riding his motorcycle past all the traffic into Woodstock. Rest assured, I'm fortunate for all the time we've shared. I look forward to seeing you soon. You all have my greatest appreciation, love and hope. We're here for you when you need us. Look for us on facebook peeps! One love.

episode 18 - easter egg hunt #1
welcome back ya'll - the weather continues to warm here in new england and it is easter season - which brings us to our very first phish easter egg hunt. in the tech industry, an "easter egg" is a hidden message or feature embedded in an app or program. well just like the programmers at google, phish has been hiding easter eggs inside of tunes for for its phans to discover since their very beginnings. this week we bring you our very first easter egg hunt by providing a few of the great jams within jams. a few of these selections have more than one tease that we could find (and we are sure that you will find even more!) so sit back, crank up the volume and see what you unearth inside each of these tunes. we hope to make this a regular feature of rebadipaldle (as there are plenty more cadbury jams out there to be dissected.) use the comments section on the blog or on facebook to let us know what you find! chalk dust 8/9/93 yem 4/22/90 possum 5/17/92 tweezer 8.9.93 Stash 11.8.98 Antelope 3/28/93 if you know someone who you think might like to share in the groove - be sure to share the podcast with them.

episode 17 - spring chicken
spring has sprung and as new-englanders we are fired up about the change of season. spring break has finally arrived and that means that warm weather and a more relaxed pace are imminent. it has been a long, cold winter here on the east coast and we are excited about the fact that it is time to set the clocks forward this weekend. we thought we would take this opportunity to celebrate the increase in sunlight by sharing some sun-filled jams with you. spring represents hope, growth and rebirth. as we look forward to the days growing longer and the temperature continuing to rise, we thought we would take a moment to pause and appreciate the moment before things come into full bloom. the snow is melting, jfarns is vegas bound, spring ski season is under way and we have some savory tunes to get you going. the summer tour will be here before we know it - - until then, we hope you enjoy! episode 16 - phanTABulous
ok so with TAB doing the rounds, we thought we would feature some of our favorites from the various iterations of trey band and solo projects from over the years. we couldn't be happier that the #1 flyers fan is back in full form! the "bust outs" from this mini tour have been fun to watch/listen to (hey yah, devil went down to georgia, empire state of mind, etc...) but we thought we would highlight some of the trey classics from through out the years in this week's episode. we are fired up about the summer tour announcement and can't wait to see what is in store as phish continues to evolve. in the mean time, we hope you enjoy our tribute to the red-headed wonder. welcome back, buddy! episode 15 - the ceo stretch
the new year's run has come and gone and we seem to be soaring through 2011 already. but clew and jfarns want to do a bit of a recap before looking ahead to the future. we have dubbed this years holiday run, the ceo stretch. why ceo? you ask - because these five shows were ALL BUSINESS. ;) starting with two great performances in worcester which we both attended and building nicely into an absolute wrecking machine of a crescendo as they descended msg for an outrageous three night stand. it was hard to whittle this episode down as there were so many highlights for both of us. for this reason and because it took us a while to get this post up we are doubling down on your listening pleasure. so strap in for a nice long episode as we travel back in time to cover our favorite moments from what we know will become a legendary run. roggae mike's mound week 7below wtu pigtail numberline back on train gumbo reprize ghost first tube tube roundroom simple be sure to check us out on twitter, facebook and/or subscribe to rebadipaladle on iTunes. make it a new year's resolution to help rdal to catch the viral buzz and keep the episodes flowing. spread the good word and help to share in the groove that is rebadipaladle.com by sharing this post with your friends using the share buttons below. got an idea for an episode theme? let us know what it is and we will try to make it happen.

episode 14 - for auld lang syne
hey pholks, just in time for the holidays, rebadipaladle gearing up for the upcoming new year’s run! this week, jfarns and clew are coming to you with a tribute to new year’s runs of yore. the holiday season has always been a jolly old time for phish and we are expecting this year to be no different as they help to ring in the new staring at the dcu and ending it up at msg. as mentioned in this week’s intro, we are completely stoked about the live broadcasts that livephish is planning. while we have enjoyed all that our friends at hoodstream have been doing to get the stream out, we think that a high quality stream direct from the band has the potential to revolutionize the couchtour for ever! looking forward to seeing how this all unfolds... in the meantime, pour yourself a cup of eggnog, throw another yule log on the fire, sit back and enjoy this week’s episode. happy holidays - see you in the new year! 4:30 party time dwd (12/31/09 miama, fl) 20:33 yamar (12/31/97 new york, ny) 30:27 jam (12/29/99 big cypress, fl) 40:32 glide (12/28/92 new haven, ct) 45:34 lizards (12/28/92 new haven, ct) 55:17 contact (1/3/03 hampton, va) be sure to check us out on twitter, facebook and/or subscribe to rebadipaladle on iTunes. got an idea for an episode theme? let us know what it is and we will try to make it happen.

episode 13 - friday the 13th
hey pholks, welcome back to rebadipaladle. jfarns and clew have a spooky episode this week. we know that halloween has come and gone but with the 13th anniversary of the phish destroys america tour falling earlier this week and our dropping this episode on a friday - we thought the coincidence was too striking to ignore. so, in tribute to that epic tour, we offer you some gems from worcester centrum. the legendary heavy metal wolfman's will lay the ground work and the stashfree is super dynamic and illustrates the undeniable sibling relationship between these two tunes. the maze we decided to toss in this week is not from the pda tour but we thought it was worthy of adding as we both have been ripping that one of late (think of it as the set break music in this weeks tribute show.) enjoy this scariness! wolfman's brother (11/30/97 worcester, ma) maze (6/28/92 roskilde, denmark) stash(11/30/97 worcester, ma) free (11/30/97 worcester, ma) be sure to check us out on twitter, facebook and/or subscribe to rebadipaladle on iTunes. got an idea for an episode theme? let us know what it is and we will try to make it happen.

episode 12 - high rollers
with the fall tour having officially come to close and the boys taking a small hiatus before the new year's run, jfarns and clew are taking a listen to a few of the highlights from each of the shows they attended during this most recent stretch. the stakes are high in this weeks episode as jfarns headed up to "manch-vegas" and clew traveled south to AC for night one of the halloween run to try to hit the jack pot on the boardwalk. the band had a few aces up their sleeve in both of these shows (which we insist were two of the top shows of the fall.) the manch show featured a killer after midnight opener and the amazing tribute to the late cool ruler, gregory isaacs, among other jams. clew was treated to a spot-on light up or leave me alone and a second set that may well have been the best set of the tour featuring lots of powerful jams. episode 11 - stuck in the mud
we're baaaaack. we know it has been a while and we apologize for the long spell without an episode but we think you will find that this week's episode was worth the wait. with the fall tour well under way, jfarns and clew are exploring some jams from shows past that feature some off-speed slow grooves. you know those tunes that seem to be played in about half time, allowing for some exploratory jamming and stretched out improvisation. the wolfman's featured in this episode is a nice, molasses version that throbs with intensity. the tweezer is a poundingly slowed down version and the bug from live bait vol. ii is a real gem. in glaring contrast, the llama, pyite and chalkdust torture featured in this episode will help create the yin yang of slow and fast that make for a great dichotomy. many thanks to jfarn's former student for providing the sbd foam opener, the sound quality of which is unmatched (crispy and clean!) we close out with a crowd-heavy character zero that demonstrates the give and take between stage and audience that is such an integral part of any great show. this week's show is an extra long one in return for our having waited so long to get it out so we hope you enjoy this week's drawn out setlist. foam (5:06) wolfmans (13:12) llama (36:40) pyite (41:09) tweezer (50:42) chalkdust (1:11:07) bug (1:25:25) character 0 (1:34:50) note: we are hoping to return to a more routine schedule with published shows every 2 weeks so be sure to keep it dialed in to rebadipaladle. be sure to continue to check us out on twitter, facebook and/or subscribe to rebadipaladle on iTunes. help rdal to catch the viral buzz that the interwebs afford. spread the good word and help to share in the groove that is rebadipaladle.com by sharing this post with your friends using the new share buttons below.

episode 10 - trax tracks
with the cool weather settling in here in new england, clew and jfarns are offering up some hot tunes to warm the bones. many of this week's selections are via the epic trax '92 show which is a front runner for phish's very own cornell '77 moment. the divided sky opener here is certainly among the very best. we break things up with a few other pick's including an entertaining dickie scotland soundcheck and a follow up to the solid mike's featured in episode 9. we hope you enjoy this week's show and would love to hear your thoughts. as always - be sure to check us out on twitter, facebook and/or subscribe to rebadipaladle on iTunes. help rdal to catch the viral buzz that the interwebs afford. spread the good word and help to share in the groove that is rebadipaladle.com by sharing this post with your friends using the new share buttons below. divided sky (7/15/92 charlottesville, va)) dickie scotland jewgrass song ( @shapsio ) sloth (7/15/92 charlottesville, va) hood (7/15/92 charlottesville, va) possum (7/15/92 charlottesville, va) squirming coil (4/17/92 san francisco, ca) hydrogen (6/17/94 millwakee, wi) weekapaug (6/17/94 millwakee, wi) blue and lonesome: (11/29/95 nashville, tn)
