How many times have we broken down on the road as truck drivers?  After 20 years of driving, I've spent many times on the side of the road.  Waiting hours and hours for a mechanic or a tow truck can really get to you. But, how close to home can you get before your company says, "You are close enough to go home, let us get you there and we will worry about the truck later." Driver shortage should be very good for truck drivers.  Less available drivers should raise prices to attract the best drivers.
