5 Michele Cloonan - Preserving our Heritage
Michele Cloonan is a professor at Simmons College School of Library and Information Science and a leader in the preservation world. She edited the recently published anthology "Preserving our Heritage: Perspectives from Antiquity to the Digital Age" published by ALA Neal Schuman. I wrote a review of this book on my Library Preservation 2 blog and then had the chance to talk with her about this book and some of the preservation issues this book raises. As I say in my intro, it might be worth your time to first read my review before listening to this interview.

4 Carleton Gholz - Detroit Sound Conservancy
I'm happy to finally present another interview. In this episode I talk to Carleton Gholz, founder and Executive Director of the Detroit Sound Conservancy about the work of this organization to preserve the sound heritage of the city. Being interviewed by @ksdriedger of #PreservationImperative #podcastA photo posted by detroitsound (@detroitsound) on Feb 4, 2015 at 12:14pm PSTAs I mention in my opening, I think this interview may be the beginning of a series of Detroit related interviews. It seems like there is interesting stuff going on there that I maybe should pay attention to. Enjoy.

3 Update and Inherent Vice
I thought I'd have had another interview online by now, but I guess it was not to be. New interviews will be posted in a few weeks. In the mean time, you can listen to this brief update, and a reading titled Inherent Vice.

Jody DeRidder: the human side of digital preservation
Jody DeRidder, Associate Professor and Head of Digital Services at the University of Alabama is my inaugural guest on Preservation Imperative. As I mention in the interview, she wasn't on my radar as a potential guest for this show until I saw her presentation at the most recent Best Practices Exchange. Her presentation was titled Mapping the Digital Preservation Wilderness.

Welcome to Preservation Imperative
Here it is, Preservation Imperative, my first installment in my new adventure into podcasting. This episode will give you a little idea of what I hope this podcast will become - conversations with people about preservation. With any luck, you will soon be able to subscribe to this podcast through the common podcast services like iTunes and Stitcher. But you will always be able to listen to the episodes right here. So have a listen. Pardon the audio issues (did I mention I was new to audio recording?)
