How to Deal with Stress, Anxiety, and Bottled Up Emotions with Sarah Buino from Conversations with a Wounded Healer
We talked with Sarah Buino, licensed clinical social worker and founder of Head/Heart Therapy in Chicago, about addiction, and our experiences with stress, anxiety, OCD, and bottled up emotions.  Sarah shared tips about using the things you love to do to help when you have these kinds of experiences -- like listening to music, singing, playing video games, going outside, and moving your body. We also talk about Reiki, tarot cards, and super hero psychology. Sarah shared that she doesn't like the word "control" when talking about your feelings and your body's response to stress. Find out what do do instead. Check out Sarah's podcast Conversations with a Wounded Healer. This interview was recorded in 2019. Since then her show has grown a lot! She talks with other healers about how people do our own healing work while helping others. Sarah's favorite social media is Instagram. StoryCorps: Connection, compassion, and helping people tell their stories with Amy Tardif, Mark, Elvis, Carlos
Mark, Elvis, and Carlos interviewed Amy Tardif, Regional Manager at the StoryCorps StoryBooth in the Chicago Cultural Center. The mission of StoryCorps is to preserve and share humanity’s stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world. This basically means that when we listen to people tell stories about their lives, we can understand where they're coming from better -- even if they are different from us or we don't agree with them. This interview was recorded at our school in 2019. Due to the COVID pandemic, the StoryBooth at the Chicago Cultural Center is closed at the time of release. But you can sign up to record a conversation with a loved one remotely in their “virtual recording booth” with the help of someone from StoryCorps, who will guide you step-by-step. Learn more about StoryCorps and book an appointment to interview someone you know here.   Listen to personal stories recorded through StoryCorps here or subscribe to their podcast in your favorite podcast app.   On season 5 of Power Your Story, we are talking all about making podcasts. How to be a storyteller with Ada Cheng with Keyanna, Christobel, Zamire
In this episode, Keyanna, Christobel, and Zamire interviewed Chicago based storyteller and the host of Am I Man Enough? podcast, Ada Cheng. Before the COVID pandemic, we were so lucky to have Ada in the house for our interview and a workshop where she helped us learn how to tell stories from our personal lives. One thing we learned is what to do if you lack the courage to do something and need to find the determination in yourself. Ada’s motto is: make your life the best story you tell. Ada hosts live storytelling events like Pour One Out and Talk Stories. During the pandemic, these events are virtual. You can learn more at renegadeadacheng.com.
