Episode 023: Shooting Our Guns Like Tyler
In this episode, we talk about what it is like to be an expert marksman, or a "Tyler". In order to do this, we decided to go ahead and shoot our guns, then draw the targets around them afterwards. This is the most effective way to show our amazing precision, which we accomplish by utilizing the Texas Sharp Shooter Fallacy. Or in other words, do you care more about the fact that an entire cherry tree orchard is burning down or do you just pick the juicy cherry in front of you to convince yourself everything is a-okay? We hope that after listening to this episode, you'll be able to save the orchard instead of just a cherry or two.

Episode 022: It's Just the Natural Order of Things That This Episode is a Day Late
In this episode, we talk about the natural law argument. We procrastinate for the initial segment, then we get really convoluted, then we try clear everything up, and it might just end up staying convoluted. But that's just the natural-law of mankind's minds.  We also talk about the Natural Order concept somewhat interchangeably with the Natural Law argument. Who even reads these things anyway? You have a show to listen to!

Episode 021: Define: Title=”((((((Circular Reasoning)Voting)Religion)Nascar)” result: Syntax Error 121: Missing Parentheses; Reference Code: 81
We broke it. How do we know we broke it? Because our title says we broke it. Why does it say we broke it? Because we broke it. How do we know we broke it? Because the title says we broke it.   Who's on first, what's on second and I don't know is on third. That's what I want to find out. I told you already Who's on first, What's on second and I Don't Know is on third. Well then, Who's on first? Yes. That's what I want to find out! But I already told you Who's on first!   Who's on first?! Who's on first?! The Video! Ay yai yai. What's this episode even about you might be asking. Did we mess up this entire description? Maybe. Or maybe we're just trying to use circular reasoning to make ourselves sound smart, because we like sounding smart. Or maybe an error in our writing caused all this convoluted mess. Maybe everything is justified. Maybe it's not. Maybe you have to keep looking. Never stop looking. Regardless of Who's on first, how long ago the defendant stopped begging the question, or when the Indy 500 finally ended back where it started, we've got another episode for your listening pleasure. So as long as we know why we broke it. How do we know we broke it? Because our title says we broke it. Why does it say we broke it? Because we broke i

Episode 020: Her Name is Jamie Lee Curtis, Idiots.
Yeah, we knew her name. In this episode, we made it sound like we couldn't remember that actresses name, but we knew it all along. We just needed a reason to be able to tell you, our listeners, that we knew it all along, so that we could talk about the hindsight bias. We're really that prepared. When we think back to this episode, we can't even believe how well we planned it out. It even sounded like we couldn't remember her name, but this was an expertly crafted set of dialogue to give us a better name than "Hey, we're talking about the hindsight in Episode 020: The Hindsight Bias" That'd be boring. Also, if we ever play poker and either of us call you but lose, we knew it too, we just had too much money, as this episode was brought to you by our maxed out on awesome donors and Patrons, Daniel, Dawn, and Shane. Daniel's the most awesome horror buff aside from us, Dawn is the most awesome perpetually dissonance filled listener, and Shane is keeping up the awesome over at paranormalanal.positivedissent.com If you'd like to keep up the awesome with us, you can visit our website at Positive Dissent for more details, you can go directly to our Patreon Page or you can leave us a review on iTunes here, or just send us a quick message telling us what you thought about our show.

Episode 008: An Episode Appears from Hindsight To Fight Some Scarecrows
Remember back in the good 'ol days, when sound quality was always an issue and an episode got lost? Well, Positive Dissent does, and we found episode 008, because everyone who was against us and was trying to keep us down, have all gone on to be Nazi's. We cover the straw man fallacy, we talk about News with Guys, Pentagrams, Hammers, and socialists. We're glad we got this episode pulled up from the future or the past, whatever it was, and we think we've officially stopped RoboHitler by exposing his plot we found in a song. Also, now that we both only have one job each, we have decided to officially ask you for some help with the costs of the show. We've started a Patreon page found here. So if you want to donate to us, there are some rewards associated with Patreon, or you can always give us a one time donation by clicking the donate button on our page as well. We'll make an entire post dedicated to explaining Patreon more in depth, but basically you can pledge dollars on a $X per episode basis. Then at the end of the month, you'll get charged for that month's chargeable content. We'll never do more than 4 Patreon shows in a single month (only for our main episodes, not Quibbles), and we're even starting out with just 3 until we hit certain milestone marks. Anyway, we do appreciate everyone who helps us out. Daniel Harrington's donation sparked some life back into the much needed lack of funds, which was becoming increasingly demotivating, so thanks Daniel for helping us out!

Episode 019: If You Aren't With Us, You're Against Us
In this episode, Mat and Dusten discuss how they are just as much different as they are the same. They fight about Harry Potter, Comics, and Joel Osteen. They don't resort to stabbing each other despite disagreeing with each other and with other people in their in and out group. So that's what episode 19 is all about! You're either with Positive Dissent, or you're against Positive Dissent...or if you see through that fatal plot hole, you might just understand something about the in-group vs. out-group bias.

Episode 018: It's Just a Couple Quickie Tumors and a Newly Employed Baby Moving Crash
We've got a quick episode for you that's sole purpose is to update you while we were preparing for a guest appearance on a Podcast Called Paranoid Enema. Check them out at http://paranormalanal.positivedissent.com. If you've been wondering where we've been the last few weeks, listen in! We spill the beans about planting the beans and even having the beans involuntarily planted in us. It's not a normal show, and it's not a long one, but it was obviously just long enough to work for us to be able to call this a quickie show.

Episode 017: Attempting a Breakfast Parody, Accidentally Parodying Ourselves, Midwest Electric Pleasure Show Style
A failed parody turns into another failed parody of a former show that sometimes featured angry rants. We went from trying to talk about a breakfast food court case to talking about an actual court case while doing it in the style of a Midwest Electric Pleasure Show Show. I'm not sure if Orlando Bloom made an appearance on a Red Horse, or if a floating head made all the comments, but for whatever it is worth, here's episode 17 of Positive Dissent...our angriest dissent yet.   This is more of a behind the scenes, very minimal editing, chatting and venting about arguments we are tired of hearing, but we don't get really heavy into a normal logic based discussion.

Quibble 008: Don't Overuse Your Razor Or You Might Get Dull
Andrea throws some simplicity our way by making us pause and realize that it might be time to replace our old razors. Sometimes it's hard to do, but a good shave is surely worth it. When you get too many old razors sitting around, it just clutters up your life and adds a ton of complexity. Plus, a dull razor sometimes shaves away something you don't want gone while a sharp one might take away more than you bargained for too! Sharp or dull? I guess that's for you to decide, but everyone here at Positive Dissent prefer to find that happy medium. Not the kind that say ghosts cause squeaky attics, but the kind that's inbetween too sharp and too dull.

Episode 016: Positively Dissenting Because of Cognitive Dissonance
In this episode we take on a different show format. We have several clips, we laugh a lot, and we blast everyone who was in our way, which was no one. It's Positive Dissent's take on Cognitive Dissonance, which means a few jokes that aren't poop related, different bumps and a different sound to the show, but it's definitely still Positive Dissent and oh so much more.   Extra info from this episode: Global Warming Comments"Multiple studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals show that 97 percent or more of actively publishing climate scientists agree: Climate-warming trends over the past century are very likely due to human activities. In addition, most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position. Episode 015: Creating A Purpose For Our Warning While Gaming Atheist Gamer Style
JT Eberhard, Jeremiah Beene, and David Drake join us from The Game Theory Podcast/The God Theory Podcast/Atheist Gamers. We have a really nerdy discussion about gaming, feminism, mass nurders, music, gaming, super heroes, gaming, and Josh Duggar. We work on getting into a few contentious discussions, but we fill the airwaves with 5 glorious voices while nerdgasming so much that we just kind of let the conversation go where it goes. Thanks to our guests for taking the time out of their busy schedules. We wish them the best and hope that they always find princesses instead of mushrooms. If they don't, we hope they at least get something powerful from a reptite instead of getting their non-sexist power suits de-energized by Bubble Man in the infinite water world -1 and would be unable to walk backwards.   **Warning: This Episode Contains Edited Explicit Language And Should Not Be Listened To By People Who Were Offended**   The Atheist Gamers' Teamspeak server can be found at atheistgamers.typefrag.com

Quibble 006: The Bleeping Positive Edition
On this Quibble, Mat discusses the influence of the media on our perception. Is the world a bright place or is it grim and dark like every horror movie would suggest. Find out while you listen to our most censored Quibble yet. We even have a secondary guest clip that spontaneously formed after Mat tried to break our editing software. (Thanks Buddha).

Episode 013: Hits, Misses, and Censored Jokes That Might Be Both
On this episode we finally shift away from logical fallacies, although they still creep in. We talk about the good 'ol confirmation bias, a cognitive topic, and we release yet another perfect episode for your listening pleasure. 100% Hits, 100% of the time.  Topics Mentioned: Evolution, Intelligent Design, Creationism, Ken Ham, Batman, Confirmation Bias, and Much Much More   Appendix Safe Harbors Good Bacteria? Quibble 005: These Stairs Just Never End
Today's Quibble is brought to you by relabelling plagiarism as intellectual work merely by citing your sources; that is, unless it's from a ginger and then you don't have to worry about it.  The Shepard Tone! It's never ending, even though this episode will end in a timely manner. The tone that just always goes up or down. We talk about it, and show you an example.   Wiki: Shepard Tone Wiki Audio: Shepard Tone One Minute Mario Staircase of Doom 10 Hours of Your Doom (Fractal and Shepard Tone) To Pick You Up After 10 Hours (You May Have To Loop This)

Quibble 004: The Ring Rule
Spoiler Alert: Mat tries to spoil a few things, but may or may not fail (I guess I didn't spoil anything, so I didn't need a spoiler alert that time). So now you'll have to listen to the show to know whether or not Mat survives 7 days, and since we know he does...woops. I just broke the Ring Rule. Sorry about that, but maybe not, because you might like the show better now. Or will you? Listen to find out, and to hear Mat struggle with spoiler alerts. Maybe.

Quibble 003: Are Larger Packages Better?
On this week's Quibble, Dusten tries to answer the age old question, are larger packages better? Is it really about what's in the inside that matters, or is it really just about how you use it?Do you think about packages a lot? Do you need some assistance with your kissing abilities? Do you just want to listen to something about the FDA? Then this Positive Dissent Quibble might be just the Quibble for you!

Episode 012: Mat This Is Positive Dissent, So Don't Fling Poo!
Dusten and Mat describe what the fallacy fallacy is. The fallacy fallacy isn't actually a typo either, but it's all about claiming a conclusion isn't true just because someone used a fallacy to attempt to rationalize her conclusion. However, this episode is brought to you by logic still, despite being our most contentious episode yet.   That Fox News video can be found here: Fox News Shocked About Google

Quibble 002: Chesty Love Called Saul
This is Tyler's first appearance hosting! He talks about interesting things we should all know during this time of the year. Although he normally comes across as a redneck with a gun, he seems very reasonable in this episode and gives some solid financial advice.
