The Rise of Entrepreneurship Alongside COVID-19 [Infographic]
Entrepreneurship is all about taking risks and paving your own path in the workforce. Entrepreneurs often embrace creativity and individuality in their efforts to perfect their craft. Success as one takes hard work and dedication, especially in recent times.  Many businesses have struggled to stay afloat throughout the pandemic. Yet, entrepreneurs have used their free time to their advantage. The industry is increasing in popularity, making many more breakthroughs than ever imagined. Down below we cover the roots of entrepreneurship and how it has evolved amidst the pandemic. Entrepreneurs in the U.S Today The U.S consists of more than 31 million entrepreneurs today. The most common age demographic of entrepreneurs ranges from 25 to 44. Over half of people who are entrepreneurs start at least one business in their life. Taking it up a notch, 26% start at least two or more. College degrees are becoming less of an issue for entrepreneurs as times change. Roughly only about half of entrepreneurs today have college degrees. There are many reasons that entrepreneurs feel motivated to start their own business. Most people don’t want to work for anyone—they want to be their own boss. none Some also have a passion for something in which they want to work towards. This makes work more enjoyable for them down the road. People laid off and now looking for work also look at entrepreneurship as a chance for a new opportunity. Women in Entrepreneurship Many industries in the workforce today are still dominated by males. However, this doesn’t stop women from working hard and making a name for themselves. Women entrepreneurs have paved a path and are making rapid progress in the industry. The U.S has around 13 million women-led businesses today. All around the world, we are looking at a total of 252 million women in entrepreneurship. Women entrepreneurs tend to be younger than others. The majority are either Millennials or Generation X babies. Certain industries are more popular for women to enter. Health, beauty, and lifestyle are the top three areas that women leaders breakthrough. The reasons women feel motivated to differ a little from the rest of the population. 71 percent want to promote change, while 65 percent want to get wealth and make a living. Entrepreneurs Developing Small Businesses In the U.S, there are a total of 31.7 million small businesses. Believe it or not, 99.9 percent of businesses in the U.S are actually small businesses. As a result, small businesses are the providers for many jobs in our economy today. They alone created 1.6 million jobs for people in 2019. Small businesses in the healthcare, food, and retail industries employ the most individuals. While there are many opportunities for success in developing a small business, it’s also not easy. A majority of entrepreneurs spend over 40 hours a week perfecting their craft. Some even spend over 60 hours. Although it takes lots of work, entrepreneurs tend to feel happy with starting a business. Not all businesses reach success, but if done effectively there is a good chance. Around 20 percent of small businesses close before one year of opening. Those who are older have had more success in starting their own businesses. This could be because they may have more experience than younger entrepreneurs. However, don’t let this discourage you. As an entrepreneur, you’ll know that success doesn’t come easy and that it takes time to master your craft. Entrepreneurship Regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic The COVID pandemic has brought over difficult times for all, especially in our work. Some small businesses unfortunately don’t have the financial resources available to stay afloat in a time of crisis like this. Around 164,000 small businesses have closed their doors either permanently or temporarily. Restaurant and retail have felt affected the most, as there’s less of a need for them with everyone staying at home. People are eating out less and ordering more online with e-commerce. Small businesses that have managed to survive are those in health, law, and architecture for example. These industries have not felt as much of an impact because they are always needed as life goes on. 52 percent of small businesses think their operations won’t be normal again until 2021. 20 percent think it won’t be back to normal until around 2022. On the other hand, the stay at home order has got people thinking about entrepreneurship. From June to September, there were about 111,000 applications to start a new business submitted every week. This is the highest it’s ever been since 2007! There are many reasons why people dedicate time to entrepreneurship during COVID-19. Many people were left unemployed and needed new ways to make money. Unemployment also comes with much more free time than before. This gives us time to think creatively about pursuing our passions. As businesses close, we need new ones. This is an opportunity to take advantage of, especially because operating remotely means you can start a business at a lower cost. Take a look at LegalZoom’s visual on how entrepreneurs are making the most of the pandemic for more information or a detailed article on entrepreneur statistics. Inbound vs Outbound Lead Generation: A Visual Comparison [Infographic]
When it comes to lead generation there comes inbound and outbound marketing to our mind. Each of them has it’s own value and can drive sales. A proper marketing strategy shall consider both of them. However, depending on the target audience, your budget, the campaign strategy, etc. one approach may be better suited than the other. So, how can you decide which one is the better choice for your product or brand, inbound vs outbound lead generation? Lead generation is a vital step for every business. Picking the right strategies to drive leads can help yield better results. The below infographic from Spiralytics provides a visual comparison of inbound vs outbound lead generation strategy and outlines the pros and cons of each. First the Definition Inbound Marketing – means presenting your brand in front of an audience that is already looking for a solution, product, or service which you offer by using digital channels. This method is permission-based, the audience has acknowledged receiving information. Outbound Marketing – reaches out to the target audience which is maybe not aware of your offering, they might not be yet identified as prospects and did not indicate intent or awareness. We see it as an interruption-based communication method. Fast Facts Inbound Marketing – Invesp found the average cost per lead drops 80% five months of consistent inbound marketing. In 2017, 76% of all marketers in North America used inbound marketing as their primary strategy, said Weidert Group, an inbound marketing specialist. Outbound Marketing – On Hubspot we can read, mobile advertising spending reached $ 190 billion globally in 2019. 68% of marketers cited paid advertisement as an “extremely important” part of their overall marketing strategy. none Medium & Techniques Inbound Marketing – is focusing on using online channels with techniques like SEO, Social Media Marketing, Blogging, Gated Content, and Ungated Content. Online events are also a good practice that can convert. Outbound Marketing – is more focusing on traditional media like Radio, Printing Press, or TV. Also, event sponsoring or in-person events. Using direct mailing, cold colds and door-to-door pitch is building your pipeline and generates leads. Skills Both marketing types require maybe different skill sets or focus on certain skills. While in inbound marketing the creative and online knowledge is more essential you can see in outbound marketing more the communication and traditional marketing skills help. It is clear that inbound marketing is not so cost-intensive as outbound marketing. Pros and Cons On the pros side of inbound marketing, we can see the approach is lasting longer, establishes brand expertise quite well, and leads into a good conversation. But it is time-consuming, requires more expert knowledge and it is more difficult to stand out from the competition. Looking into the pros of outbound marketing we see the reach to a large target group is given, we have more control on the target leads and strategy and get leads ahead of competitors. But it is by nature interruptive and is limited to one-way communication. We also see that leads might not be in the position to make a decision. You can see that each of the methods is having its valid points. We can summarize that inbound marketing enables you to be cozier with your potential new client and real sales conversation can happen. Outbound marketing helps you to put your brand into the spotlight and spread the name or increase recognition. Make your choice based on your defined target.   Skillz Middle East makes Digital Transformation happening for your company. Top 5 Reasons Why Companies Should Prefer E-Learning For Employee Training
Ask yourself, does your employer, invest in the development of their Staff? Employee training can be for some companies a significant investment of time and money. But why is it something companies shall not miss out?  Bill Gates is an inspiration for many of us. So let’s start with one of his stories.  This is an incident from one of his interviews. The interviewer asked him, “Sir, what is the secret of your success?” He gave her a cheque from his chequebook and told her to write down the amount she wanted. She said, “I do not mean this sir,” and then she repeated the question in another way.  He gave her the same answer and handed her the cheque she had refused to collect and she still declined. He tore the check and then said to her “The secret to my success id that I don’t miss opportunities as you did now… You could have been the richest broadcaster in the world”.    Image Credit: Wallpapercave   That is the thing, to be successful you have to act when you get an opportunity or else you will miss the opportunity that you were waiting for. But, my friend, you are doing the same thing if, in today’s time, you are not using E-learning for employee training. Many big companies have understood the advantages and benefits of adopting E-learning for employee training. According to a study, more than 41.7% of global fortune 500 companies use e-learning or some kind of technology to train their employees. And if we see a particular company, let’s say IBM, when they changed their training project scope from traditional training to e-learning, they saved approximately 200 million dollars. In the modern world, technology and demand are changing at a rapid speed. This requires new skill sets. Training is necessary for the employees so as to learn new skills. none You must have heard about the third law of Newton. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Therefore, if you want to increase your employees’ productivity, you will have to take some action. Like any other asset, you will have to work on this asset to increase its productivity. Moreover, businesses do not have the best and highly skilled employees and with constant evolutions in the business scenario, the employees will need the training to perform better in their day-to-day tasks. If you do not train your employees, it will lead to skill gaps and a lack of focus and interest towards work. Business is a two-way road, you can either move towards success or you will move towards failure. There is no in-between on this road. Companies that fail tend to resist change. Therefore, if you wish to avoid going on this road, you will have to cope up and adopt the changes. Resisting change is one of the main factors affecting production. When I used to ask my previous employer about any doubt or anything new, he used to tell me to Google it. By using Google, you can gain temporary knowledge of something, but it is not a long term solution, as when you google something, you will just search it to find the answer instead of understanding the thing thoroughly. Here are some points on why you should prefer E-learning for employee training: 1. Cost-Effective: The biggest problem of learning in a classroom is that you have to travel to the classroom and it uses your time and energy. The teacher will charge as per the number of students and all the students have to learn the skill according to the speed of the teacher. On-premise training has the same problem as it is charged as per the number of students. The coach or instructor that you hire will teach at their own speed and there is no back-up. i.e if the students want to review the course you will have to ask the instructor to come again and you will be charged for the visit. On the other hand, training through E-learning means the resource that you will buy for 20 users would be sufficient for 100 users. There is no personal or per-user cost. Moreover, savings are also there. For the traditional classes, you have to travel to the class, the cost is saved here. You don’t have to hire anyone. The students can learn in their free time. Thus, on-premise hours are not wasted and thus more productivity is achieved. Therefore, you should include E-learning in your training project roadmap if you wish to have a cost-efficient process.   Image Credit: Pixabay   2. A flexible learning alternative: If you opt for the traditional training, then the training will start at a fixed time and will end at a fixed time. When remote work is so famous, who wants something that is not flexible? The biggest advantage of E-learning is that you can learn from wherever and whenever you want to. You just need a device that is connected to the internet and then every place is a classroom. Employees can find free time by looking at the project scheduling and they can learn at that time. Your room is your classroom, any cafe that you visit, etc are all classrooms. You can even learn when you are traveling. You can learn on Sundays or in your free time so that you are not learning when you are supposed to work. The employees can learn according to their expertise. Whether they want to learn from the beginner level, or if they are somewhat familiar with the topic, they can choose the level accordingly. none They can even ship the part that they already know. No one has to cope with the speed of other employees and they can learn at their own speed. 3. Maximize knowledge retention: The most rewarding feature of E-learning is that it has a maximum knowledge retention rate. Learning using books and lectures is often boring and the knowledge retention rate is low. The content needs to be interesting if you want people to grasp it properly. Approximately 65 percent of people are visual learners and their propensity for watching videos online shows no signs of slowing down.  It helps in linking the knowledge with microlearning, by delivering the content in a similar and episodic manner, which increases knowledge retention and engagement. It also includes games and quizzes that keep the content interesting. Learning the project over is hard, but when you do project execution, you automatically learn it. We remember practical things in a better way. Likewise, mere learning will not take you anywhere, therefore, practical application of the knowledge is necessary if you want to learn anything by heart. E-learning comes with various interesting features like there is a feature in which you cannot unlock the next lesson until you successfully complete the current one and pass all the quizzes. This way, it keeps you motivated to work hard to unlock the next lessons and learn. Moreover, e-learning is highly customizable. You can choose to learn through video, audio, notes, quizzes, texts that contain games, etc. 4. Builds trust and a better relationship: How would you feel when you receive favour from someone you didn’t expect? When you provide training to your employees, they feel grateful and respect towards you and this blesses you with another benefit of reduced employee churn. Therefore, e-learning is a great opportunity for you to improve the employer/employee relationship. If you invest in your employees, they see it as a very big thing and they feel valued. Many people work in jobs where their value is considered according to the hours they work and they are not appreciated. Training your employees is a great way of showing them that they are appreciated and you want them to grow. When such an opportunity is presented by the boss, the employee feels that they are trusted and valued. This is not something that they will take for granted.  This also controls employee retention.   5. Increasing Productivity: The first thing is that the employee can learn from home or anywhere or in their free time. Therefore, they can work during working hours. This doesn’t allow training to affect productivity. When the employee comes by leaning from home, their skill increases and thus they can work more productively. Moreover, they can visit the E-learning platform whenever they want and thus when they will feel stuck, they can simply start the lesson and they can learn then and there only. According to a report by IBM, E-learning can improve productivity by 50%. Whatever the employee learns via e-learning, they can apply in the office and thus they get the practical experience of the same. This helps in maximizing knowledge retention and it also increases productivity. Conclusion: As e-learning provides benefits like mobile learning, flexible courses, different levels, interactive material, etc. it is growing very speedily. Moreover, 42% of companies say that e-learning has led to an increase in revenue. E-learning lets your employees learn at their pace and at whatever time is suitable for them. Using e-learning for employee training will help your business achieve higher productivity and will help your employees in learning new skills that will benefit your business and your employees in the long run. 6 Reasons to Switch from Offline to Online Business
Today, more and more owners of “brick-and-mortar” businesses ask, “Why should I represent my brand online?” Young companies are already there, but if you used to operate in an old-school way, it’s time to consider moving you’re offline to online business and enter the digital world.  First of all, the number of Internet users is growing every day, and it’s a chance to reach more customers. Secondly, you can extend the horizon for your business because more locations become available to you. If you still don’t know whether taking your brand to the e-commerce world is the best decision, read our article. We collected the main reasons that prove the importance of switching from offline to online business. Why is Online Business The Best Solution Today? Sometimes it’s hard to accept changes, but we all have to keep up with the times. Otherwise, it’s better to forget about success and development. Moving to the online business may be exhaustive if you don’t have any experience in e-commerce. You’ll have to create a site, register social media accounts, and follow digital marketing trends. But the following reasons prove all the benefits of the Web for a brand: Image Credit: iStock 1. Business visibility Visibility brings you new customers, helps boost sales, and sets the connection with potential buyers. If you have a physical store or office, the opportunities are a little bit limited. Only people who visit your place know what you do and offer. But brands with a website and social media pages have broader horizons. Customers can get more information about the company and communicate with you. 2. Improvement of your brand’s image  It’s unlikely that a user will pay attention to a company that doesn’t have a website, blog, or social media account. It’s a matter of trust and responsibility. Nowadays, both small and big businesses initiate online performance to develop customer loyalty. Nearly Two-Thirds of Small Businesses Rely on Websites to Connect with Customers. At the beginning of 2020, nearly two-thirds (68%) of small businesses have a website. none How will people get more details about your company, products, and services? They need to see the information about a brand, have a chance to communicate with it, and get the hottest news about it. Online business opportunities allow you to improve your image and increase the level of trust. 3. Amazon is a №1 marketplace for product sellers If you have a physical store but it’s time for you to cross the borders of a local business, consider offering goods through Amazon. Millions of entrepreneurs are already there, and they get all the perks of the largest marketplace in the world. There’re no horizons for a seller on this platform – you can connect your products with customers from different countries. And your income can reach more than $1000 per month. If you decide to showcase your products here, it’s necessary to prepare for hours of research and market analysis. Many sellers use a helpful IO Scout tool to get important details about goods launched on Amazon. Check the database of this instrument – it contains more than 150 million items. You’ll see the most profitable products, your main competitors, and historical information about goods. It’s a brilliant opportunity to let the software do comprehensive research for you to select an item that will help you earn money. Image Credit: Getty Images 4. Availability 24/7  Do you want to be closer to your customers? Stay available every day of the year. Buyers will be able to order products whenever it’s convenient for them – they won’t have to wait till your physical store opens its doors.  Besides, sometimes people might have questions concerning your products or services, and they need to get information as fast as possible. Provide contact data on your website, create a live chat, or communicate with customers through social media. Show how much you care about them.  5. Work and operate your business remotely  As a business owner, you know how hard it is to find an appropriate office, store, or location sometimes. If you decide to create an online presence for your brand, there’s no need to be based in a particular place. For example, those offering marketing or IT services can hire employees who feel fine to work remotely.  If you sell products, you might need to place them somewhere. Owners of small businesses keep items at home very often. But if you have many boxes, consider renting a warehouse. Those selling goods through Amazon benefit from its FBA program. You can send products to the store’s warehouse and forget about all the logistics questions.  6. Reduce costs  If you have an online business, sometimes there’s even no need to rent a physical store or office. All operations, including selling, money transfer, and communication, are conducted via the Internet. You can save money by refusing to rent business premises or hire people. Therefore, you can employ a few specialists who’ll work distantly, from the comfort of their homes.  Final Words  Are you ready to promote your business online now? Increase the loyalty level, boost sales, reach customers through Amazon internationally, and spend less money on rent – it’s only a few of the best opportunities for brand owners. It doesn’t matter if you have a small company or a famous corporation – let the Internet be your powerful weapon. It’s your chance to get more customers, earn money, and automate major processes with ease. Top 5 Reasons Why Digital Signature Matters
Is your organization still printing out documents, put them into an envelope, call Aramex, DHL, or UPS to send them for the other party to sign? Now starts the uncertain time, where is the document, when will it come back, when will it be signed? Read today 5 reasons why digital signature matters.  Remember the good old days where we had to sign documents, put them into a fax machine and send them to the recipients. Sitting next to the fax machine and awaiting confirmation from the countersigned party required a lot of patients. With a lot of luck, the recipients had a fax machine that could return it in a readable way. The worst scenario is a fax machine with thermal paper and coming after the weekend back to office, finding a paper showing only a blurred content or a blank paper since the sun bleached out the writing.  none These are experiences we wish we didn’t have to face in our life, but thanks to digital signature, there is now an easy way around it. E-signature is quite a while around and not an invention that surfaced through the COVID-19 pandemic. But we for sure can see it founds its second spring. Eliminating paper saves lives and makes work from home possible, it is the new normal. While e-signatures and digital signatures are often used interchangeably, there is a significant difference between them. An electronic signature is a digital way of rendering a signature of any kind of technical way used, maybe a handwritten signature captured or another type of biometric signature like a fingerprint. A digital signature is a cryptographic process that requires a certificate, combined with data, which generates a unique hash code and requires authentication of the singing party. But today we don’t want to look into these details. More important are the reasons why people switch to a digital signature. Image Credit: Pixabay   1. Faster Transactions It might be the first and best argument that digital signature processes are faster than any traditional handwritten process. For both senders and recipients, digital signatures offer faster document routing and greater peace of mind. Let’s take for example customer service. In the global economy, retaining customer satisfaction is a common challenge for all of us. Consumers now expect business to be done faster. Allow your customers to sign electronically agreements and contracts which will boost transparency, time, and satisfaction. A business transaction is done quickly and conveniently by allowing them to use there mobile phone, laptop, or any other computer-based device. But more than this you get recognized as a helpful partner and they see you understand their hectic life with limited patient span. Empowering your customers with convenience can boost customer retention and satisfaction. Winning new customer relationships will rose due your top-performing service. 2. Reduce Errors Paper-based workflows are tricky, errors can mean loss of time and loss of money. In contracts and agreements, there is no room for errors, a simple typo can mean back to the beginning or lose in a legal battle, hassles are always coming along with it. However, automating the contract signing process or implementing forms automation with digital signatures can impact the accuracy and reduce errors from the beginning. You can implement system checks and in case an error is detected the correction can be done quickly without losing a lot of time. In the end, your company and brand look more professional and the trust of your clients will increase. 3. Built Your Own Process Not every suit fits every man, the same applies to processes. Every organization has maybe its unique process in place. Digital signature solutions allow the customization of workflows and processes based on your own requirements and not the other way around. Depending on the use case you can design effective and different flows. The flexibility goes so far, that no third party implementation provider or developer needs to be contracted, to change your processes. Compared to paper-based processes changes can be made quickly and easily without losing time and money. 4. Compliance and Security Digital Signature matters when it comes to maintaining compliance and it is a secure solution. Nearly every country on the globe has a digital signature law in place, which assists in compliance with many industries. One of the aspects of a digital signature is the actual protocol of a signing process. This can track and prove how and when someone was applying the signature. Since digitally signed documents are shared between both parties simultaneously it is no more a question when was the valid starting date of a contract. 5. Anytime, Anywhere, On Any Device Where do you need to go today? When are you free to pay attention to a highly needed signature to avoid business to stop? Having the freedom to sign anytime, anywhere, and even use your mobile phone gives a lot of freedom. So even you are away from the office for lunch or a business meeting, your essential required business processes are no longer delayed. You can view the status instantly even if you are out of the office and this with the highest security provided. Transparency can be reached by setting reminders and track the status over dashboards which are in most digital signature solutions present.   Conclusion Why Digital Signature Matters It is the best time to switch to a digital signature yesterday. However, you might want to check your digital signature law of the country you are making business in. It is important to know which type of digital signature is allowed to be used, and which documents you can sign digitally. In most countries, there are exceptions to a couple of documents. In most cases, documents with notary services or witnesses can not be digitally signed. Adobe Sign is an electronic signature service from Adobe which fulfills all requirements for digital signature and more. From creating a signature, validating, tracking, archiving, using any device, and legal, it is a complete solution offering. A lot of organizations integrate Adobe Sign into their corporate authentication solution (AD Azure), ERP –  CRM solutions like Microsoft Dynamics, and document storage like Sharepoint, Dropbox, or OneDrive. Being a part of the complete business applications brings even more value. How to Land a Job by Working with a Recruiter Virtually [Infographic]
Landing a job is tough in this competitive post-pandemic climate, and there are so many applicants competing against each other. Read today how you can manage a virtual job interview and how to work with a recruiter virtually the best way.  Thankfully, working with a job recruiter can help you level up your search. Working with recruiters in the wake of COVID-19 is definitely different than it was before. The pandemic’s impact has affected businesses around the globe, and the norms of hiring and recruiting have changed. Working with a recruiter can be a win-win situation that speeds up your job search if you approach it the correct way. Finding the right recruiter and maximizing your time working with one is a skill. However, if you know how to find a recruiter and maximize your time working with one, it can be a game-changer for your career. Try some of our strategies below to start receiving more responses from recruiters. What are some of the perks of working with a recruiter virtually? You can narrow down your job search and easily find roles matching your requirements. You can instantly expand your job network depending on the recruiter’s connections. You can save time in the job application process. Keep in mind that recruiters have a vested interest in making sure a job is a good fit for you, but they aren’t career coaches. Most recruiters can’t help you unless you know your desired career path already. Rethink the idea of working with a recruiter if you’re still figuring out what your ideal job position would be. Here are some ways to make sure working with a recruiter online goes smoothly: 1) Leverage your contacts Reach out to personal and professional contacts – friends, family, previous employers, mentors, and your university alumni network. Maybe they can introduce you to any recruiters based on their experiences. Mutual connections help create a strong start in a recruiter relationship. 2) Assess recruiters using your own judgment Even if someone is highly recommended, do your own research before you work with any recruiter. Realizing how recruiters find candidates can help you increase your chances of finding the right job quickly. Consider if the recruiter is organized and tech-savvy. Also, be sure the recruiter is professional, responsive, and makes sure he/she has your best interest in mind. 3) Keep in touch with recruiters on LinkedIn Recruiters use LinkedIn to find candidates using keywords that relate to background information such as work history, job title, and university. Be sure your profile is helping them find you. Ask yourself: Is my LinkedIn profile optimized with the right keywords? Have I changed my LinkedIn settings to notify recruiters you’re open to opportunities? Am I a member and active participant in LinkedIn Groups related to my industry? Do I engage with industry leaders and the content they produce? Are my skills section and endorsement section updated? 4) Find recruiters who understand your niche Finding a recruiter who fully understands the nuances of your industry is time-consuming but worth it. Working with a recruiter is a smart move for goal-oriented job seekers. Some of the best recruiters tend to be niche, industry-focused recruiters. Remember, only working with non-specialized recruiters on Linkedin has limitations. Use recruiter directories that help you find skilled recruiters who understand your niche. 5) Maintain positive relationships with recruiters Get in front of as many recruiters as possible to increase your chances of success. Remember, recruiters know you’re working with multiple different people, but don’t make it obvious. Avoid mistakes by using an organizational method to manage information about the recruiters you’re working with so you don’t mix them up. Prove you remember small details about your interactions with your recruiters. This will help strengthen your relationship with every recruiter.  none As you navigate the competitive job market, working with a recruiter can help you level up your job search. If you’re new to working with recruiters, don’t be disappointed if your efforts aren’t paying off in the beginning. Foster personal recruiter relationships that go beyond the surface level, but realize it takes time. In a recruiter relationship where you’re primarily judged by your online interactions, it’s worth it to be prompt and thoughtful with your communications. When you build professional relationships with recruiters, you’ll be amazed at how eager they’ll be to work with you. Check out some tips from LiveCareer for successfully working with recruiters in an exclusively digital job search. Standing Desk Health Benefits or Trend
It’s very unhealthy to sit for long hours. Those who sit for several hours every day have a higher risk of heart diseases, diabetes, and early death. Additionally, those who sit all the time can’t burn enough calories, and many studies link this condition to obesity and weight gain. Let’s look closer into the health benefits of a standing desk.  This makes many office workers worry since they sit down for several hours daily. Fortunately, standing desks are gaining more popularity. What Are Standing Desks? Standing desks are desks that allow you to remain in a comfortable standing position while working. You can adjust some modern versions to heights that allow you to stand or sit. We call these adjustable ones sit-stand desks or height-adjustable desks. Standing desks are healthier than other types of desks. Back in 2018 Apple’s Chief Executive Tim Cook revealed in an interview with David Rubenstein. Cook said the health benefits of standing and moving were overwhelming. “We have given all of our employees 100 percent standing desks,” Cook said. “If you can stand for a while, then sit, and so on and so forth, it’s much better for your lifestyle.” none Here are some health benefits of standing desks from US Essays Writers that science supports: 1. Standing Lowers Your Risk of Weight Gain and Obesity When the calories you burn are lesser than what you take in, you will gain weight. Standing burns more calories than sitting, thus it lowers your risk of obesity and weight gain. 2. The Use Of Standing Desk Significantly Decrease The Level Of Blood Sugar Ten office workers participated in a study. According to the result from the study, the workers that stood for 180 minutes after lunch lowered the blood sugar level by 43% compared to workers who sat down for an equal amount of time. Image: Shutterstock 3. Standing More May Help You Live Longer  Studies have found a link between early death and prolonged sitting. A review of 18 studies showed that people who sit the most have an early-death risk that is 49% greater risk than the risk of those who sit the least. An estimate from another study says that reducing sitting hours to 3 hours per day would increase the average life expectancy of Americans by two years.  4. The Risk Of Heart Disease May Also Be Mitigated With This Desk  A study showed that bus conductors who stood for long hours had half the risk of heart diseases as the driver who sat for an equal number of hours. Without any doubt, standing is beneficial for heart health.  5. Standing Desks Are Helpful In Reducing Back Pain  Some employees having long-term back pains participated in some studies. After several weeks of participation, the participants experienced up to a 32% reduction in lower back pain. CDC also published the outcome of a study. The outcome reveals that the sit-stand desk reduced neck pain and upper pain by 54% within four weeks of usage.  6. Using These Desks Improves Energy Levels And Mood  In a 7-week study, participants who used standing desks reported less fatigue and stress than those who seated throughout workdays. Additionally, 87% of the people who used standing desks said they had more vigor and energy the entire day.  7. Standing Desks Improves Productivity  While ramous mention that typing might be more difficult and hinder actual working a study showed differently.  A PubMed study with 60 young office employees showed during 4 hours working on a standing desk did not impact on characters typed per minute or typing errors. And let’s be honest and read again point number 6, happy people are more productive.  Conclusion  Your physical and mental health will improve when you sit less and stand more. Like every single coin has two sides you will find also here a second opinion and there is no limitation on the various work environments recommendations like open floor plans, inflatable exercise balls, or treadmill desks.  So if you have always spent several hours sitting down at the office, consider getting a standing desk. You’ll enjoy all the health benefits we’ve mentioned when you use a standing desk.  Adrian Lomezzo is a freelance writer. He promoted different websites and developed the content. Boost Workplace Productivity with AI [Infographic]
Artificial Intelligence (AI) finds its way to everybody in one way or the other. In our daily office routine, it could be an addition that can help anyone with super enhancements to routine and boring work. But the differentiator is when people understand to utilize it to a large advantage and boost workplace productivity. Skillz Middle East makes Digital Transformation happening for your company. We focus on the quick win to ensure Digital Marketing, e-learning, Web Meeting, Web Conferencing, Digital Signature, Digital Asset Management are ready to enhance your organization. Digital Marketing shall save money and bring a more efficient conversion for your brand and products. Dieter Hovorka CTO, Co-founder, Skillz Middle East As we power into the 2020s, the technological landscape is changing at breakneck speed. Companies that keep up with the pace and adopt artificial intelligence into their workflow will cruise past those that don’t. In other words, the fact is given that we will see jobs disappear. The idea is simple: In order to thrive, companies need to work smarter and faster to find more cost-effective ways to harness their data, manage their workforce, and handle day-to-day operations. While in some countries human manpower is cheap due to missing regulations and unions we can see the industrial countries of Europe and America are fighting with overhead costs. Here comes now AI into the game where expensive labor costs can be replaced with machines with benefits. But keep in mind, importantly, this isn’t about replacing humans. It’s about boosting productivity, allowing workers to focus on the more human aspects of work. The most important way Al is transforming the workplace is by making it more human. Here are some quick facts: The Artificial Intelligence market is set to grow by 50% year on year, over the next 5 years. – Research & Markets Incorporating AI into the workplace has the potential to increase productivity by 40% or more. – Accenture Currently, only 23% of businesses have incorporated AI into their processes – Forbes The question remains when it comes to the topic to boost workplace productivity. How can AI help my Business? Think about your HR department. When it comes to a hiring process AI can play a big role. Recruitment is by nature a painful process. According to LinkedIn the average employee turnover rate is around 10%. Replacing an employee can cost a business up to 60% of the employee’s salary. none According to Glassdoor, it takes nearly 24 days to hire a new member of staff and this is a really low end. When your company is ready to hire, you need to be able to weed out time-wasters. It’s no wonder then that pre-screening of candidates is increasingly common. Companies like Pymetrics offer a series of “ethical Al games” to assess candidates’ cognitive and emotional characteristics, whilst avoiding demographic bias. Results are matched against existing employees who are good in their roles or used to suggest another suitable role for the candidate. So using AI in the hiring process can reduce hiring time by 75% and increase employee retention by 50%. So what about boring jobs can AI do it for us? It is estimated that 47% of American jobs may be lost to automation. The good news is that there’s likely to benet positive job growth into the 2030s as the workforce transitions to higher-skilled roles. The question would be only where is our educational system, are we already prepared? We can hear the voices all the time that most educational systems across the globe are outdated. Al & automation is perfect for certain jobs when it comes to: SPEED OF EXECUTION – Al systems can make millions of decisions simultaneously, compared to one by a human. NO BIAS – They do not bring biased opinions to the decision making process. SATURATION POINT – Al will not burnout, or need breaks. ACCURACY – No human means no human error. BOREDOM – Sifting through huge data sets will inevitably result in boredom, but not for a machine. So what jobs could you hand over to AI? DATA ANALYST/ SCIENTIST To be ahead of the game, your business needs to be able to gather and analyze huge amounts of customer data to look for trends, spot opportunities, and so on. WHY NOT A HUMAN? – Traditionally, this might have been done by a data scientist. And, whilst there has been a 344% increase in demand for data scientists since the early 2010s, at an average salary of $130k it’s clearly not within every company’s budget … THE Al ALTERNATIVE – Deloitte’s LaborWise can provide managers with analytics to identify high-cost areas, roadblocks, and where departments are overworked or understaffed. DEMAND FORECASTER Using machine learning, systems can test mathematical models relevant to your business to predict changes in demand, supply disruptions, and product launches. WHY NOT A HUMAN? – According to the consulting firm McKinsey, using Al can reduce supply chain forecasting errors by up to 50%. ADMIN ASSISTANT Again, we’re not suggesting Al can replace all human aspects of the role, but it can certainly lighten the load and learn how to boost workplace productivity in this role. MEETINGS  – Tools like X.ai can “connect all of your calendars will coordinate the best time to meet with your guests.” TAKING MINUTES  – Otter.ai can create rich notes from meetings, interviews, and other important voice conversations. TRANSLATION – Skype Translator will translate skype calls in (near) real-time conversations. HUMAN RESOURCES Al is getting in on the HR scene too. Service desks like Spoke can answer HR questions (e.g. about leave). If it doesn’t know the answer it will direct the question to the right person in your team. CHATBOTS – Train a chatbot to answer frequently asked questions on your website. If it can’t answer, the chat will be directed to an expert. MARKETING ASSISTANT Advances in Al and software intelligence are allowing companies to personalize their products and services more effectively for individual companies. 64% of B2B marketers consider Al valuable for their sales and marketing strategy. 83% of consumers in the US and UK are willing to trust retailers with their personal data in order to receive more tailored, targeted products, recommendations, and offers. Now it is getting scary, did you know AI can teach us the one or other thing? Starting a new role can be daunting, for both the new employee and those responsible for training them up – especially of your business has a certain, unique way of handling tasks. But getting a new employee up to speed can be made easier with AI… SALES COACHING – AI coaching tools, like Chorus can analyze sales calls as they happen, offering tips to help sales reps e.g: “Now’s time to mention discounts to the customers” CUSTOMER CALLS – Another one is Cogito which offers real-time advice as to how the call is going. e.g: “You’re speaking fast. Slow down a bit.” VIRTUAL REALITY – Engineering firm Honeywell asks employees to wear AR headsets whilst working. This captures an experience that can be played back to trainees to experience the role via VR. Tell me, what’s stopping your business from using AI? Using AI in the workplace has many advantages to boost workplace productivity. Despite this, there are still obstacles form nay businesses to overcome before they integrate automation into their workflow. 77% of CEOs are concerned that AI will increase vulnerability and disruption to their business. 47% of CEOs worry about the difficulty of integrating AI projects with their existing systems. 40% of executives say the biggest obstacle to integrating AI is cost. This is it, AI: Do or Die? The future of AI is written into the modern workplace, whether we accept it or not. Businesses that embrace automation and AI in their workflow will reap the rewards of speed, efficiency, and accuracy. Unsurprisingly, around 70% of workers believe AI will eliminate more jobs than it creates. However, the same percentage believe AI will have a “very” or “mostly” positive effect on how people live and work. And that’s the heart of the matter: those jobs that were traditionally time-consuming, resource-intensive or laborious are those that arguably could be given over to machines in the hope that a retained workforce could take on some of the more “human” roles. Several studies have revealed that the most important skills for the future human workforce are: Teamwork Communication Creativity Critical Thinking To reiterate: The most important way AI is transforming the workspace is by making it more human. So, if you’re ready to grow your business and cruise past the competition, it’s time to get on board with AI. The infographic about using AI to boost workplace productivity was put together by Adzoom, their promise is to make online advertising easy and accessible to all businesses.  Share and Enjoy !

How to Handle Business Conflicts [Infographic]
Handle business conflicts before it is too late. Many founders, co-founders, and business partners know what it’s like to bump heads with one another. New endeavors often bring people together who care strongly about their work. These people can get deeply involved with their work and ideas, which can be great for creating new ventures and solutions. Kiana is a content creator with a passion for writing and all things creative. She loves exploring a diverse collection of topics including personal development, business and cybersecurity. When she’s not writing you can find her traveling, going for runs along the San Diego coastline and performing music. Kiana Mason Guest Writer Tweets by Siege Media However, sometimes we can become blind to our colleagues’ points of view which can lead to conflict. It is important as a leader to realize that you will not always agree with your colleagues and partners. There will be some sort of conflict at some point in your business relationship, so we’ve gathered tips to embrace conflict and cultivate a stronger partnership in the process. Conflict Is Bound To Arise As conflict arises, it is important to remember that everyone thinks differently, and having a one-track mind isn’t the key to solving conflicts. Many co-founders have found that facing conflict has led to positive outcomes. It’s crucial to understand how to handle disputes. Here are some tactics that business and startup partners use to manage conflicts: Put Your Plan on Paper – If you understand that conflicts are bound to happen, then you should plan for them ahead of time. Start by preparing an agreement in writing that details your roles, work-load, liabilities, and profits. This is also where you will include your plan to resolve conflicts. Handle Conflicts When They Happen – Most people want to avoid conflict as much as they can. By avoiding conflict you are doing a disservice to your partners and your business — your conflict can disrupt operations if it is not addressed. It is always best to handle the problem before it is too late or gets out of hand. Put Yourself in Their Shoes – As one of the leaders of your business, your voice is vital to the operation. However, it is important to remember that your colleagues also have a vision and valid ideas. Remember to hear them out as they may have some ideas that boost your creativity. Diversifying your business ideas also helps to keep things fluid and current. Solve the Problem – Now, if you are dealing with your first conflict, there’s a good chance it won’t be pretty. If you have a disagreement, force a solution before you leave. Letting a conflict sit and boil is sure to make things worse, so it is best that you find a way to compromise before jeopardizing your work. Tips To Create Beneficial Boundaries Conflicts have caused problems and misunderstandings that have destroyed partnerships for ages. In fact, 43% of entrepreneurs separated due to internal disagreements. These disagreements typically relate to founders not defining their roles. none For this reason, it is important to set boundaries so that everyone knows which facets of the business they oversee. Here are some tips to help you set boundaries for you and your co-founders. Make a list of all of the areas needed for your business. Then figure out who is best at each part, and assign one person to it. Don’t let disagreements fester, face them head-on. When a big decision arises, everyone should agree to hear each other out. Agree to move on once a solution has been reached. This is a bit retroactive, but you should try to find partners that don’t hold opposite values of you. Different ideas are great but if your core fundamentals don’t match up, you may continually run into issues. How To Handle Business Conflicts and Internal Conflicts Internal conflicts can be difficult to handle. It’s important to create an environment where these disagreements aren’t seen as personal, keep it professional and fair. Experiencing conflicts is no easy thing, but if you embrace that your co-founders and partners want to succeed just as you do, then you can learn to accept their conflict as growth. However, being able to embrace conflict doesn’t mean that you have to give in easily. It means that you can understand why someone might disagree with you and you consider their point of view. If you know that something is right for your business don’t be afraid to speak up and defend your ideas. When you do engage in an argument, make sure that you do so collaboratively and with data-driven facts. Allow your partner to express their points and evaluate them fairly and accurately. If you feel you are having a hard time agreeing on many decisions, then you might want to think about finding a professional to intervene. You could try a: Business or leadership coach T-group (professional group training) What If You Can’t Come To A Solution? After trying all of these steps, if you feel that you can’t come to a solution with your business partners, then it could be time to step away. There comes a point when the relationships within a business are too toxic and begin to affect the results. At this point, it is best to take the knowledge you have learned and apply it somewhere else. You now know how to start and run a business, and what is especially important is that you know everything that did not work for you. When it comes down to it, co-founders and startups succeed because they learn how to deal with conflict. Some business partners have learned how to effectively turn opposing viewpoints into an effective strategy. Of course, this is great in theory, but it doesn’t work for everyone. Conflicts can tear people apart quickly, so it is best that you either learn to solve them or head in different directions before they get the best of you. AI Chatbots Advantages and Challenges [Infographic]
Let a dream come true, 24×7 customer service, greater capacity to handle customer inquiries, fewer operational expenses, improved customer satisfaction, does this sound like something you want? But with AI chatbots advantages there come also challenges which we want to highlight today.  My first chat app I personally used was ICQ which was a chat and VOIP client. It was a revolution back in the 90s and most popular until AOL came out. Btw, AOL bought later ICQ in 1998. Let’s be frank on this topic. Since machine learning and A.I., there was a renaissance of chatbots. All of a sudden it was a good idea to have one and some of the reasons are valid. Enhancing your chatbot with emerging technologies is for sure the best idea you can do to take a load of work away from your call center and focus on the personal touch. AI Chatbots Advantages, Challenges and Opportunities you need to Understand AI chatbots are critical for customer support and help improve the overall customer experience. They are so effective that almost 25% of customer service operations are expected to use chatbots by 2020. Chatbots can be used on your website, inside apps, or even on Facebook Messenger. In fact, there are over 300,000 chatbots on Facebook Messenger alone. The infographic walks us through the facts around chatbots, the challenges you might face and takes the wind out of the sail of concerns. What is a chatbot? It’s an AI system used by businesses for customer communication. In other terms think about a call center where usually your customer support would answer the call of your clients. Chatbots allow you to give correct answers to expected questions. The AI chatbot itself can learn from customer requests and provide relevant answers in the future. Many chatbots employ machine learning the improve the UX. More than 80% of work completely autonomously without any manual intervention. AI Chatbot Opportunities If done right, chatbots can help take your customer experience to the next level. You can improve your customer service through prompt and effective response. It’s also possible to reduce overhead and increase your conversion rates through chatbots. AI Chatbots Advantages in your Sales Cycle 1. Identifying Leads at the Right Time Chatbots can offer a greater allover experience to your client on your website or app. The two-way communication experience leads to satisfaction and trust. If the dialogue goes well it can move the candidate forward to the sales funnel to take the next step. 2. More Engagement Now comes the yellow of the egg. Of course, there is not only one single customer a chatbot can handle at the same time, but it can also connect simultaneously with multiple customers at the same time. You can offer direct product information and offers during the conversation. It does not sleep, customers can approach the chatbot 24×7 and get instant responses without waiting time. Good chatbots work without any manual intervention. 3. Data Collection Your marketing department will be your best friend, with the chatbot you can collect deep inside data from your customer, more than just personal data. By asking the right question you can filter and analyze customer preferences and generate a more interactive way of gathering information. 4. A/B Testing Sometimes it is a wise idea to test responses and see which one has a better outcome. The same applies to ask questions, a question answered in two different ways might bring different results. By receiving the better result A/B testing can auto-learn to favor the right question or respond in the future without manual intervention. 5. Saves Money There is no question that AI chatbots are less expensive in maintenance than hiring a third party call center or hiring an army of employees for customer service. You can save money by leaving the complex topics to the sales team or customer service agents channeled. Your chatbot can answer the high volume of the majority inquiries. AI Chabot Challenges Of course, people see still challenges to implement a chatbot in their business, one of them is Security. Most of the time customers might not feel that their data is secured and would not share it in a chatbot. Overasking with not relevance can harm the security and trust of your clients. Without implicating secured connectivity the security question will stay open and a threat (speaking of SSL). Make sure your chatbot is Likeable to attract your audience, try to keep humor and chat in an engaging manner. Take your time to develop the great user experience. Vernacular chatbots are required, understanding your audience might be a more difficult element than you think. Adding multiple languages to your chatbot might raise challenges in the dictionaries which need to be maintained. Consider this statistic, as far back as 2016, the Big 4 Messaging Applications (Whatsapp, Messenger, WeChat and Viber) had more monthly active users than Social Media’s Big 4 (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn). none Digital marketing consultant Shane Barker has created an overview of chatbots in the infographic, read it for more details. Flextime Can Transform Workplace Productivity (Post-Pandemic) [Infographic]
When we head back to our offices once the pandemic that’s disrupted our business and personal lives is over, many of us will have grown accustomed to working from home – on our own schedule. For many people working from home was not on the radar from their company. But flextime might be.  What is Flextime and how does it work? Flextime is work police implemented by companies around the globe that allows employees to choose their work schedule with certain rules and conditions in place. For example, are a lot of jobs not fixed on a certain hour of the day, however, targets need to be meet and rules for optimum efficiency and productivity. The infographic illustrates the office productivity by numbers.  70% of employees feel that a job comes more attractive if it allowed flexible working hours 67% of employees wish their company had a flexible working policy (powwownow) 30% of workers would rather choose flextime benefits over a pay increase if they were to chose only one. 89% of British workers believe that working flexible arrangements boost productivity (Financial Time) 60% of flexible workers say their flextime setup makes them more productive and engaged in the office (The Motley Fool) Among working parents, 84% consider work flexibility as the most important factor in a job (Forbes) In the infographic, you can read how flextime is practiced around the globe with the sample from the United States, Italy, Denmark, Germany, France, and Philipines. Germany is always looking into the facts to lower the unemployment rate and use flextime for jobs with lower working hours. This reduces taxes and insurance costs and gives the opportunity to hire two employees. In Denmark, the standard workweek covers only 29 hours with flexible work schedules for employees.  none Considering the history I personally believe that the US was leading when it comes to working from home and flextime. The target-driven industries and jobs did not look into the clock when it comes to working time. The social aspects in Italy are leading the model for working parents and employees with a health issue. The benefits of flextime is seen on both sides, the employer and employee. The benefits are found in mental health, cost savings and in easier recruitment.  For many employees, that flexibility can drive high levels of satisfaction, it releases stress not to have the work balance topic in the back of your head, whether that means saving commute time or daycare and babysitter costs. Companies can see the benefit when their employees are more satisfied and motivated. Productivity improves and company reputation gets a boost as a “good place to work.” An infographic from Philippines-based specialist recruitment agency Manila Recruitment  outlines a five-step plan for implementing flextime. Have a plan Set a task accomplishment policy Specify Communication Channel Conduct a Trial run Get your managers involved Flextime works for any size of the company. Special in the given time we can learn all from a more flexible model of working. Some thoughts come maybe with a cultural background which limits often the mindset. Also, we shall keep one thing in mind which is key for success: Motivation! Skillz Middle East makes Digital Transformation happening for your company. Does this fact also reflect in the statistics 2019 and the growth of the UAE population? Skillz Middle East makes Digital Transformation happening for your company. We focus on the quick win to ensure Digital Marketing, e-learning, Web Meeting, Web Conferencing, Digital Signature, Digital Asset Management are ready to enhance your organization. Digital Marketing shall save money and bring a more efficient conversion for your brand and products. Dieter Hovorka CTO, Co-founder, Skillz Middle East Tweets by Skillz Middle East As compared to previous years, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) population has developed with extreme diversity and being the home from more than over 100 nations (only 80 countries report their citizens living in UAE, so the real number is not published). The expatriate community has a big impact on the culture of the country.  In today’s infographic by The Media Lab, we are exploring different factors including demographics, nationality, and others to see how the region is going through certain changes throughout the duration of 2019.  Last year (2018 statistics) multiply sources claimed 9.54 million residences living across the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The total UAE population count in accordance with the World Bank is 9.68 million residences, a plus of 200,000 people. Other sources claim 10.7 million (Statista), 9.90 million (countrymeters.info) or 9.66 million (worldpopulationreview.com). We can find the ratio between males (69.5%) and females (30.5%).  Nations Diversity  In 2018 over 88% of the living people in the UAE had been expatriates. Which nationalities are the largest in the UAE in 2019? Well, the Indian community stayed nearly stable but reduced by -20,000 and have over 2.6 million Indians living in the UAE. The biggest groups are Pakistani 1,2 million, Emirati 1,08 million, Bangladeshi 700k and Philipines 5,35 k. Compared to 2018 we can see that the large groups of nationalities all reduced, while the allover increase comes from the rest of other nations living here.  It is interesting to see that Emirati citizens constitute 13% of the total population in the UAE, compared to 11% in 2018.  none Population by Emirate  The top 3 are Dubai which is home of 4.1 million people, 2.7 million call Abu Dhabi their domicil, while in Sharjah 2.3 million people are residence. We can see the development in Dubai is quite strong with an increase of 800,000 while in Abu Dhabi nearly 500,000 people shifted out.  Due to the increasing costs of living across the UAE, Sharjah is experiencing a positive trend for people looking for cheaper housing,  a plus of 800,000 people who live in Sharjah compared to 2018.  All other Emirates Ajman, Fujeirah, Ras al-Khaimah, and Umm-al Quwain see an upwards trend in increasing their residences.  Social Media Statistics  There is no doubt that social media is an important element in an expatriate’s life. To see who is on these digital channels is maybe interesting to see compared to other countries. Over 8.9 million people are active on social media and use on regular bases the top 5 social media networks in the region.   Facebook, 8.8 million monthly visitors, 74% are male, 26% are female  LinkedIn, 4.million monthly users, 72% are male, 29% are female  Instagram, 3.70 million monthly active users, 62% are male, 38% are female  Twitter, 2.30 million monthly twitter, 68% are male, 32% are female  Snapchat, 2.05 million monthly snappers,  43% are male, 56% are female  In this year’s edition, we did not compare YouTube since we looked into social media only.  Conclusion  The UAE is still a booming nation where the economy is driven by construction and technology. In a survey by KPMG, we can learn that the construction industry will grow by 6-10% over 2020. This is reflecting in the increase of the UAE population. Major events as the Expo 2020 are giving hope to the economy in the UAE, while a shift of typical workers happened over the last years. In the year 2019, the UAE could encounter a 30% (SMEs) increase in new company registrations.  Share and Enjoy !

Dieter Hovorka CTO, Co-founder, Skillz Middle East Tweets by Skillz Middle East Do we ever, these days, have time to pause, contemplate, assess, strategize to go beyond the day-to-day to delve into some deep thinking? Entrepreneurs like Bill Gates are setting for us the bars high how to escape on the day-to-day business and reload the brain. Bill Gates takes twice a year a seven days retreat in seclusion to read and think about the big problems. He calls these two weeks Think Weeks. and some of his best work came out of this routing. Today we look behind the curtain and see how you can make this happen for yourself. How does Bill Gates do it? He excludes himself from civilization, friends, family, coworkers twice a year for 7 days on a secret two-story cabin in Pacific Northwest. A dedicated caretaker provides him daily with two meals. The Result Produced important thought pieces and technology from these, such as the 1995 “The Internet Tidal Wave” paper. Benefits of Think Weeks As of yet, no scientific studies have been done on Think Weeks. But many of their features come with proven benefits. In an environment free of co-workers, meetings, and office distractions, the ability to focus increases exponentially. For a bonus, remove internet access to eliminate one of the biggest sources of distraction. The advantage of a new environment brings new ideas. Research has shown that studying in multiple and new locations improves performance. none Our home and living in the city make it not easy to detach from the noisy surroundings. By selecting a location surrounded by nature, there are essential health and focus benefits. Research suggests that inhaling forest air provides three major beneficial substances negatively-charged ions, beneficial bacteria, and plant-derived essential oils.  Negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain, as well as increase serotonin levels via biochemical reactions. This helps relieve stress and boost daytime energy. Sunshine & Vatimine D have a positive impact on our brain and body. Get another mood boost from vitamin D, which helps activate genes that regulate the immune system. It also releases neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine that affect brain function.  One of the success factors is to define a specific start and end date. By having a specific start and stop date, you know that you have to accomplish your goals in this timebound period. A healthy body makes a healthy mind. Pair your Think Week with complimentary exercise. Aerobic exercise appears to boost the size of the hippocampus, the brain area involved in verbal memory and learning. A study found that employees doing complex work are more vulnerable to decreased performance from office stressors. Remove yourself from that environment to reduce the effect. It is by now already known that our digital world is maybe not the best for humans, so try to disconnect it improves problem-solving and creativity. One study found that hikers disconnected from technology and fully immersed in nature for four days improved creative thinking and problem-solving by a full 50%. Lesson learned says to slow down to move much faster.  The busier you are, the more you can’t afford not to take a “Think Week”. none How to make your own Think Week? There are many ways to do a Think Week, from a simple day trip to all-out isolation. Here are the methods used by some of the world’s most successful people: Block off calendar: Plan this well in advance to keep meeting and projects from interfering. Choose remote location: Find a cabin, hotel, home, or even treehouse that encourages focus – often in isolation. It’s best if you can go without WiFi and a phone signal. Set goals for the think week: Are you trying to solve specific problems, or looking to get freeform inspiration? Bring materials: Assemble all of the information you need to meet your goals, such as books, presentations, white papers, slide decks, and other materials. Invite co-thinkers (optional): You’ll likely get the most focus out of traveling solo, but going with others could benefit as well. Plan complementary activities: Give your mind a break with healthy activities such as hiking or yoga that contribute to your overall focus. Document wins and progress: If done well, you’ll have a massive amount of output. Be sure to record this for strategic implementation when you get back to reality. The infographic from online reservations and travel company Reservations.com illustrates the complete information of Gates “Think Week”, what studies say and how you can utilize it in your way. Maybe you are not in the position to take twice a year 7 days of. Still, we can learn some lessons from how Bill Gates recharges and refocuses. Share and Enjoy !

Email Responsiveness: Build Trust, Sell More [Infographic]
The renaissance of email or as we say how email responsiveness builds the trust of your clients. Who said that email is dead does maybe not know the facts. Today we are going to look into the powerful email marketing possibilities and how to succeed.  We could read it in newspapers, magazines and heard it maybe from analysts, they all have been proclaiming the death of email for over a decade. “Email Is Dead” — Fast Company, July 1, 2007 “Email has had a good run as king of communications. But it’s reign is over.” — Wall Street Journal, Oct 12, 2009 “Email is dying. That’s pretty much accepted as a fait accompli in Silicon Valley. It will take a few more years for it to sink in everywhere else.” — Phil Libin, CEO of Evernote, The Telegraph, May 26, 2015 “Email and cash are dead in China” — Forbes, Aug 18, 2019 Is email really dead, what are the hard facts telling us and how does the future look like? By 2022, 126.7 trillion emails will be sent every year and 90% of Americans used email in 2017 this includes members of every age group. none We could experience that 91% of our young generation aged between 15-24 used emails, between 25-44 even 93%. Our Gen X and Baby Boomers grew up with emails and saw the full life span of how it improved over the century,  90% of 45-64 use email and above 65 even still 86%. The daily habits say that 58% of people check their email first thing in the morning, even before social media, news sites, or Google. What may be changed over time is the habit to check emails on mobiles instead of desktop computers or laptops. The question is valid is our Gen Z maybe killing email, since they are the most active generation online? The numbers tell a different story, 58% check their email several times a day, 23% once a day, 12% several times a week and 5% once a week. Only 1% never check email. They have been asked for what they actually use emails for, 65% use it for personal, 14% use if for work and 19% use it for school or university. But change is the only thing in life we can be sure of and email hast definitely changed over time. Today 3 companies are handling 82% of all worldwide email access. Apple (iPhone, iPad, Mail) dominates the email universe with a 44% market share followed by Google (Gmail) with 26% and Microsoft (Outlook & Outlook.com) comes to 11%. Yahoo can attract  7% of email users and the rest of 5% use something else. Why Is Email Responsiveness Important? It is a clear message which we need to not miss from all the emails received, 35% require a response and 23% require an immediate response. When it comes to our clients we can see that half of them expect and respond in just a view hours and 11% of them in 15min. But a surprise is that yet, the average response time for sales leads is 42 hours. These should also impact your email marketing campaign which should not stay unattended. We should not miss the fact that it is not just the younger generations, 1 in 3 GenX and Boomers expect a response in less than 1 hour. The impact of not responding in time can lead to frustration and people feel annoyed or if responses take longer result in decreased interest. Companies that respond to inquiries within 1 hour are more likely to qualify the lead. It has shown that companies responding within 2 hours are 7 times lesser successful and responses within 24+ will lose the lead. Responsiveness Builds Repeat Business 80% of Americans say speed, convenience, knowledgeable help, and friendly service are the essential elements of positive client experience. When their expectations are met, customers are 80% more continue using business and eventually spend 67% more. It’s not a secret that 6 in 10 will walk away after just a few bad experiences. But keeping up with email can be a difficult task in our busy lives. Here comes tech into the game of life. It can make it easier to stay on top of replies for us. As a business owner, you need to establish an email culture, encourage employees to reset their Email mindset. An organized inbox is like a clean desk in the office, set the rules for goals of response time. A simple “I apologize for the delay” buys goodwill but don’t bother with excuses. Your clients can be trained to have a  more healthy conversation. When you respond consistently over time, recipients will learn when to expect a reply and feel less frustrated by delays. Organizing your working day should include the time when you can overlook your inbox for housekeeping. Working as a team should include an email response policy everyone shall follow, what is the expected response time, how to manage out of office and vacations and who takes care of shared email boxes. Utilize technology to help you with the email tasks, out-of-office agents can tell your opponent when to expect a reply. Use an auto-reply for your offline time. To have constant answers ready utilize templates that you can store in your draft folder and copy-paste scripts rather than retyping them. Don’t forget you are not communicating with robots, we are still all together humans. Keep a human touch, a touch of humor or personalization will humanize your interactions, even when using a prewritten script. Win more business and earn your clients’ trust with exceptional email responsiveness, check the complete infographic from TimeToReply. How to Keep our Children Safe on Facebook
Facebook and Co are for a couple of years a new aspect also in life for our younger generation. They use it on a daily base and maybe even spend to much time on them. To protect children, the major social media platforms have age restrictions to prevent those underages from creating profiles, but this does not always block them of using it. Dieter Hovorka CTO, Co-founder, Skillz Middle East The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) has released its 2019 Internet Crime Report which found that 2019 was a record year for both victims of internet crime and dollar losses in the United States. 467,361 complaints were logged by IC3 in the last calendar year – 1,300 per day on average. The most frequent internet crimes recorded in 2019 were phishing, non-payment/non-delivery scams, and extortion. none Individuals and businesses lost $3.5 billion in total, an increase on the $2.7 billion lost in 2018. But let us go back to our young once which are in our heart and we want to ensure to see them grow up without getting involved in crime and bad experience. On the sample of Facebook, we would like to encourage today a couple of ideas that apply to any other social media platform.  Cyber predators also use Facebook to target and groom kids, and children with no parental oversight. How can we ensure to keep our children safe on Facebook and Co? 1. Change privacy settings As parents, we need to be aware that our children might have more easiness to use the internet world than we expect. While all social media platforms have age restrictions set to 13 years or older, the verification process itself might not be a Chinese wall for our kids to work around. Here we need to raise awareness to our children and maybe sit down and register an account together with them where we can set correct parental control and privacy settings. Predators are seeking those profiles where a lot of private information seems to be published. When children are happy to share their next vacation or trip to visit their grandparents on the weekend it opens the door for burglars and thieves. Setting the right privacy settings which allow only friends to see your stream, and not sharing your friend list can protect information against predators. Image Credit: Pixabay 2. Decide who to befriend Raising the awareness to accept a friend request from people you know in person is essential. Making online friends who you don’t know is a trend and done by a lot of young fellows. Predators are seeking for those profiles who have open friend lists to see what their friends are doing and sharing, a friend request send is done quickly. Parents can receive emails on when friend requests arrive in the inbox of their teen. It is wise to have an eye on it and if the number is increasing to seek a dialogue with the teen. A harder job is identifying duplicated friends profiles which are coming from identity thieves and let us believe that we know the person. A quick check with the person before accepting a new friend request can prevent to have cuckoos in your friend list.   3. Offline rules shall settle online rules The same way we educate our children not to trust strangers applies online. Receiving offers or requests for sharing information is a very common practice and threat to keep children safe on Facebook. While we teach our young once to wear a helmet while cycling, we should check the online browser capability to protect them against unwanted web content. Understanding the concepts of notifications is mandatory and not just clicking a warning message away. Image Credit: Pixabay 4. Manage Online Time Many parents believe their teens are too attached to their phones, partial parent can see they are even addicted. Help your teens to manage their online time. It is proven that people spending to much time online lose the link to reality. The virtual world can look fantastic colorful or the other way around, a grey playground of bullying and criminal discussions. Once hooked to a negative topic it can quickly consume attention, time and have a negative impact on health.   5. Trust Your teens Let’s assume we don’t have internet and social media. We learned it all in our young years in real life, we should treat each other with empathy and respect on social media. For that reason, there has been developed a set of policies (Community Standards) that define what is and isn’t okay to share on social media. Image filters and text filters would raise a red flag to the admins of the social media platform. However, the system can never be perfect. There is a link on nearly every Facebook and Instagram post for reporting abuse, bullying, harassment, and other issues. Let your teen report observations and talk about things happen online and what was shared between friends.   Let’s Sum up With these 5 points, we can only create awareness that social media can be as dangerous as walking over the street. There is no way we can deny our children to stay away from the media. Starting early the discussion with our children is essential to take the curiosity away. Make sure to educate them with a comparison to real-life examples. This makes understanding and learning for them easier. Keeping children safe on Facebook matters not only to parents, but it should also be on the agenda of schools and teachers. Share and Enjoy !

Smart Ideas for Recycling E-Waste to Save Gorillas
We are all surrounded by electronic gadgets, wires, and batteries each day. Consequently, more and more electronic waste is piling up, making it a primary environmental and health concern. Learn today how you can save gorillas. Duncan has been in the writing profession for a decade now. He has great experience writing informative articles and his work has been appreciated and published in many popular publications and working in swifttechbuy. His education background in communication and public relations has given him a concrete base from which to approach different topics in various niches. Julian Smith Guest Writer My Reading List e-Waste DELL: Dell Eyes $63 Billion E-Waste Recycling Opportunity.Great Lakes Electrnonics Corporation: Global report urges worldwide effort to promote e-waste recycling. The balance small business: Introduction to Electronics (E-Waste) Recycling. The Congo Basin, key habitat for gorillas and chimpanzees, is rich in minerals such as coltan, gold and tin that are used in electronics like smartphones or tablets. Mining in Congo is a major factor in the decline of species like the Grauer’s gorilla, which have lost habitat in their silent battle to the industry and are also hunted when a forest is opened up for mining. If everyone would participate in cellphone recycling programs it would help to reduce the demand for mining in gorilla habitat. “You probably use it every day and don’t think once about how to save gorillas.”  – Tina Deine none However, conscious attempts are being made to have this matter under control. Disposing of electronic waste is such a task, and the effects on the environment are precarious. Below are smart ways of E-waste recycling: 1. Purchase fewer electronics Purchasing many unwanted electronics is the primary reason for the increase in electronic waste buildup. Often, we buy gadgets that we don’t need. Therefore, it’s vital to consider our genuine requirements and pick what’s necessary. 2. Avoid throwing old electronics in the trash Tossing old electronics in the usual trash can be hazardous. They contain toxic substances and are harmful to the environment if put in landfills. 3. Locate a recycler Looking for somewhere to sell your mobile phone? There are various firms certified to accomplish the task safely. Therefore, look for one near you and trade any worn electronics which you might have. They re-use and refurbish the equipment with all the required safety standards. 4. Donate your wastes Give out any electronic devices that you don’t need. They can be useful to others, and this ensures that they stay away from landfills. In case they are not worth donating, give them for free to organizations that take them in. 5. Utilize buy-back policies Most electronic companies are now using different buy-back programs, like Apple; so they take back used gadgets and give discounts for new ones. Therefore, enquire about this the next time you go shopping for electronics. Take home Most gadgets contain toxic substances, and disposing of them right is vital. Shun ramming more into the landfills since there are numerous ways of recycling obsolete electronics. Also, learning techniques of getting rid of them goes a long way in conserving the environment. Getting started to donate your e-waste would make your thoughts on how to save gorillas more real. Share and Enjoy !

Seven Social Media Content Trends for 2020 and Beyond [Infographic]
From time to time I get into the debate with marketers who don’t believe in social media. But I try to repeat myself, “it’s not about yourself where you want to be if they are your potential clients you need to show up and pick them up where they are.” Social media is a potentially invaluable medium for marketers. Dieter Hovorka CTO, Co-founder, Skillz Middle East The US market is for social media a good benchmark. It seems like the American population is mastering their life on digital media quite well. Statistics show that three-fourths of the US population uses at least one in their favorite social platform. The outlook for the social media giants is promising, half of the world’s population is expected to be using at least one social platform within the coming months or year. It’s about time to look into some trends which we expect to come up in 2020 and beyond. In business, the message is clear for marketers. Social media marketing is a must in every marketing strategy to push brand awareness, popularity, and sales. It’s time to sit and adjust though strategy to hook the right way your audience with the trends showing up.   Location-specific Content Location-based services are not new, but more than anything else it can help you to target your budgets correctly to reach the audience you want to have. We expect to see more location-based pages and promotions for events and specific deals.   Consumer-centric Content Listening and learning were key in every proper marketing strategy, it is about time to get customer-centric. Based on user activity customize content and encourage your audience to participate in campaigns. Using analytics and insights is more relevant than ever before to understand and deliver the right content.   Ephemeral Content Facebook stories, Instagram stories, Snapchat, who is your favorite? Ephemeral content disappears after a certain period. Focus on creating content that engages and triggers immediate action.   Product discovery through Social Media Actually statistics say that 50% of people use Amazon for product search and not Google. The trend goes to the picture search and speech search. Prediction says by 2020 50% search will be done with this common method. To get your product found description and price information are key to success. Social network penetration is constantly increasing worldwide and as of January 2019 stood at 45 percent of hte world population. none Video Content Every year, video content is on the rise. Also in 2020, this will not stop. 56% of internet users watch videos on social media. They are not only for entertainment but easier to consume. Product videos, testimonials or simple how-to videos are top for the audience.   VR/AR Content I personally have not seen so much VR/AR adoption in the last 12 months. Our social media users look for more practical use cases to actually tap into these technologies. Growth in 2020 is predicted, but maybe it stays a prediction unless we see a simplified usage of these technologies. Don’t shy away to produce this type of content to let your clients experience your products.   Influencer Content The trend is clear and statistics say, 22% of internet users aged 18-34 purchase products after seeing influencers endorsement. However, assisting your influencer with content is key. Make a wise decision which influencer you team up with to promote your products and services. Can we say all these trends are new? Maybe not but we for sure can say some of them continue to be more precise. Members of Gen Z will likely be driving advanced technologies and change our perspective on how to reach them. Social media content needs to target more precisely, utilize the given technologies and deliver our results. Social Media Content is how we reach customers on social; this infographic by MicroCreatives, a creative design agency services provider, summarizes the trends again. Share and Enjoy !

5 Benefits of Power Napping at Work [Infographic]
Do you catch yourself falling asleep at work way too often? It’s not uncommon. For many of us, that wave of exhaustion hits us midday after lunch, usually sometime between two and three o’clock. Read today how power napping can improve your work productivity. The time at which that wave of sleep hits is irrelevant, though. The fact is, you’re getting tired for a reason, and that’s because your body is craving a nap. Unfortunately, most workplaces don’t advocate sleeping on the clock. Traditionally, the office is viewed as a place where you come to get work done and push yourself to grow professionally. While this still holds true today, research claims that getting in a little shuteye on your workday can increase productivity, which is why more companies are encouraging naps in the workplace. For example, Ben & Jerry’s Vermont HQ provides beds and pillows for their employees, and Nike’s Oregon location offers quiet rooms where employees can nap and meditate when needed. none Getting in these power naps are essential to a happier workforce, but many businesses just aren’t there yet. That’s why it’s most likely up to you to find the time and place to get in a workplace nap. So, what’s the best way to catch some winks while you’re at work? Here are five tips to help you out. Nap Early in the Afternoon: As mentioned, most people get drowsy around two or three. This is the prime time to get a 15–20 minute nap in. You’ll feel rejuvenated, and it won’t interfere with your sleep in the evening. Find an Ideal Location: Your office probably doesn’t have a designated sleeping area. For this reason, you may need to nap in your car or bring pillows to make your desk a bit comfier. Keep it Short: The sweet spot for power napping is anywhere between 10–26 minutes. Anything more and you’ll likely feel groggy for a while before feeling the benefits of that nap. Wear Comfy Work Attire: This may be a no-brainer, but comfy work attire will help you rest easy. Wearing a quality, fitted button-down shirt and comfy slacks is a great way to be office appropriate without compromising comfort and fit. Use Sleeping Apps: There’s a ton of sleeping apps out there that provide white noise, monitor your sleeping habits, and even offer meditation mixtapes. Take your pick and get to sleep! You’re probably wondering in what ways sleep can really help you out, too. Here are the quick facts on what ways a power napping can improve your productivity in the workplace: A 26-minute nap improves alertness by 54%… … and boost your productivity and performance by 34% A 10–20 minute nap also improves your mood and outlook on your workday Better sleeping habits also prevent stress and susceptibility to conditions such as heart disease Lastly, a quick nap can improve your attention span, making you more alert and focused when it counts Your office may not be sleep-friendly, but you can still try these sleeping hacks on your own. Who knows? Maybe your manager will notice improvements in your work performance and inquire about your secret. To learn more about sleep in the workplace, check out the infographic below “Science-backed Benefits of Power Napping” from Tommy John.
