Aviva Levin – Teaching Students, Not A Subject

Hello, and welcome to Episode 156 of the Planning Period Podcast, part of the OnPodcastMedia Network. I’m your host, Brad Shreffler. This week on the show I am joined by Aviva Levin. Aviva is a Canadian living in Seattle, WA working on her graduate degree. She was a French and Social Studies teacher in Canada before coming over to the states. She is also a podcast host herself, of the show Lesson: Impossible. She is part of a Twitter DM group I’ve recently joined up with and so I asked her to join me on the show. Aviva and I talk about her podcast and what it’s about, what language instruction should actually look like, how the education system is built on beliefs that are not for our time, the importance of remember that we teach students, not a subject, and how great teachers are transparent and reflective. So, sit back and enjoy Episode 156 of the Planning Period Podcast, my interview with Aviva Levin. #languagelearning Aviva, thank you so much for joining me on the show! It was a great chat to get me back into the podcasting mindset again. To connect with Aviva, find her on Twitter @AvivaLevin. Also, find her podcast Lesson: Impossible at lessonimpossible.com or wherever you get your podcasts. If you have comments or questions about the show, you can always connect with me on Twitter or Instagram, @BradShreffler. I love to hear from you all there and that’s also a great place to connect if you’d like to be a guest on the show. Or, checkout the Feedback Page on my website that gives you other options for feedback as well, which you can find at BradShreffler.com/Feedback. Until next week, don’t stress perfection; proficiency gets you a really long way.
