It's heat week in Calgary as the boys are losing their minds due to a "heat dome" or something. At least it's just their minds they're losing as things could be much worse... Nathan moves on to Mass Effect 3 and hits a bump in his Mass Erection while Paul wraps up NieR. Speaking of games, what about those video game intros? What makes a good one? Well, we talk about it. Nathan is back with tales of hot shingles in his area. In the mean time he's been playing lots more Mass Effect while Paul is almost done with NieR. Nathan decides to use his Pixel Response clout to get an early copy of Mini Motorways for PC which sparks some discussion on E3s of yore and lines being drawn in the sand between Large Explosives and New Frontiers. It's Sumo-mania as the boys spend almost a whole hour talking about the Natsu Basho finals that just happened last weekend. Lots to say about the tournament, sumo in general and how under-represented the sport is in video games. Speaking of video games, Nathan is super into Mass Effect again and Paul is disappointed in Resident Evil Village speedruns (and wonders about them all in general due to it). It's a big week for sports as the Sumo Championships or whatever Nathan is super into is getting spicy. Also, basketball, but that's less important right now. What IS important, however, is having a vehicle, especially if you live in Calgary and ESPECIALLY if you work where we work. Which we do. Nathan's car chronicles are coming to an end. Also, Clerks 2 conversation gets us looking back at a less politically correct era with some wander and old podcasts remind us that we can never go back. Paul was late to the recording this week. Why? Well, we talk about it. Nathan is still playing ReCore although Giant Bomb may no longer be a podcast he can reliably listen to with the great departure. Paul dives deep into Resident Evil Village and talks at length about it. The two discuss the finer points of Predator 2 before getting into some real talk about family. It's COVID week as the boys are stuck at home waiting for test results to let them go back to work. What better time than to play video games? Nathan jumps onto (and promptly bounces off) Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice but finds some solace in the arms of Recore. Also, Golden Week sale on Steam gets him to drop some cash on a bunch of stuff, like Tekken. Paul jumps into Nier and its obvious the two will talk more at length about it soon. What happens when you eat an apple a day? You get a COVID vaccine, or something. Which is why Nathan is so chipper today. Also, a visit to the dentist is apparently a great time for some people. So is digging up relics from the past and reliving video games you never even played before. Tattered papers from a pre-digital era adorned with tales of Kings of Rivers and Ribbits as well as Hunter that require reckoning. Or something. Also, we talk a lot about anime, specifically Doki Doki Literature Club. This is it. After all the character introductions, bumps, paths taken (and not), storylines started, villains created and problems introduced in the last 5 episodes, we finally reach an end. Nathan is back and in an extremely good mood. Is it medication? Is it profound happiness found within his life? Who knows? He talks about his turn around in his mental health over the last year, how COVID impacted other problems he was dealing with and, of course, the art of Sumo Wrestling. Also, apparently Mario 35 was one of the best battle royale games? Is this hyperbole? Do we even know what that word means anymore? John Walker messed up. But he ain't giving that shield back without a fight. Too bad it's hard to hold onto a shield with a broken arm. After getting a slap on the wrist, he meets up with a strange character played by Elaine (and that's all she'll ever be to me). Bucky leads the Wakandans to Zemo, who's paying respects to the Sokovia memorial (since he's the nicest villain ever now) and there's nothing left to do but fix that damn boat up! Too bad the Flagsmashers are planning their biggest terrorism target yet, otherwise this was shaping up to be a nice little afternoon. Ayo wants Zemo but allows Bucky to get what they need for 8 hours. Thank god in that time they're able to find Karli and the FlagSmashers, reason with her, mess it up, lose her, lose all the Super Soldier Serum and get their asses kicked. John Walker is back to screw everything up by being the world police he thinks he is but all is saved when the Dora Milaje come and beat him within an inch of his life. Too bad that crazy Zemo gets away... again. Oh, and of course John Walker is able to pocket one Super Soldier Serum vial away from the others. But... he wouldn't be so dumb as to take it... right...? The dynamite duo decide to talk to Zemo and, after very little deliberations, help him break out of prison since he seems like a pretty alright guy now. Actually, he just seems to know where he can get information about The Flagsmashers so with little hesitation it's off to Madripoor to talk to the criminal underground to get info they might have without offering anything in return (which always works out well). Luckily, an old friend is hanging out in the city and together they find the creator of the Super Soldier Serum and get a lead on where Karli might be hiding out.
