030 | Separate Yourself from that Voice in your Head
In this episode, Corissa dives a little deeper into the mind and reminds us that “the voice in your head is not you”. We have approximately 60,000 thoughts a day on average & ~95% of those thoughts are subconscious thoughts that are not “our own”. Our personal perspectives, beliefs, values, and opinions are programmed from ages 0-7 years, and they only strengthen as we get older with each “story” we tell ourselves to confirm our own beliefs & opinions. This voice in our head is often unkind & negative. This voice mostly brings us thoughts created from fear, overwhelm, insecurity, self-doubt, and more. But why? Why can’t our brain reflect our deepest desires and project thoughts of confidence when we’re out in the world “doing life”...? Tune in to the episode to find out WHY you should separate yourself from your thoughts & HOW to move forward and live the life you truly desire to live. Leave this episode inspired to WALK WITH FEAR rather than continue letting the FEAR WALK YOU.________________ SHOW NOTES: 2:00 - References to episodes 2 & 3 - We think an average of 60,000 thoughts in a day 2:40 - Why don’t our education systems teach us how to master our minds from pre-K to college and beyond? 3:00 - Our thoughts create our feelings. Our feelings drive our actions and inaction. Our actions create the results of our lives. 3:20 - Why we need to get personally responsible for the results in our life and stop blaming our family, friends, and the circumstances we’ve experienced. 4:40 - Our own perspectives, beliefs, values, and opinions are programmed from ages 0-7 years. 5:30 - We can change our beliefs, opinions, & perspectives  if we want to 6:30 - Our personal opinions are not facts. 7:00 - Connection your mind to your body & tapping into your conscious mind 8:20 - Fear-based thinking + Why it’s important to separate yourself from your thoughts 9:15 - Our subconscious mind wants to keep us safe in order to “survive” & hates change 10:30 - How I practice awareness of my own thinking + the fear-based thoughts I currently get challenged with 12:00 - Setting boundaries + fear-based thoughts due to fear of not being liked (people-pleasing) 13:20 - You don’t HAVE TO explain yourself for your choices 14:00 - Our fears & dramas we create in our minds are from ANCIENT programming 14:50 - Don’t let that voice in your head stop you from doing THE THING you deeply desire to do 15:00 - The voice in our head + asking someone out on a date/to hang out… “worst case” scenario is they say “no” and how the “no” means nothing & has nothing to do with you or your worth 17:00 - You are not “that voice”. You are the OBSERVER of “that voice”. FREE GIFT BELOW! It’s not too late to get on track with the goals & milestones you want to accomplish this new year! 027 | Why Being 100% Happy All the time is Not Realistic
In this episode, Corissa discusses how it is totally normal to experience both positive AND negative circumstances in life. The idea of finding 100% happiness and avoiding all negative emotions is not reality... even though we are conditioned to believe it is possible through the endless fairytales & happy endings we've grown up seeing in movies & on television. We are meant to experience *both* “good” AND “bad” feelings & emotions in life. With practice & awareness, we can learn how to be at peace with our negative emotions and learn how to manage uncomfortable feelings rather than ignore them. When we ignore negative emotion, it only bites us in the ass in the end. To accept and allow yourself to FEEL negative emotion is to find true freedom, as long as we don’t sit in the negative emotion too long. Listen to this episode if you want to lessen your anxieties and find more peace in your daily life.  INTERESTED IN 1:1 COACHING WITH CORISSA? 021 | Comparison
Do you find yourself comparing many aspects of your life to that of others? Do you compare… Your body to her body? Your family to theirs? Your career?  Your car? How you eat vs. how they eat? Your skill & talents vs. theirs? Do you wish “you had what they have”?  Do you lust after their life? The life you see on social media? In this episode, your host brings you back to reality. Corissa reminds you that you are indeed a miracle & that it is quite impossible to compare yourself & your life to that of others.  With contrasting upbringings, experiences, and totally different life journeys, it’s IMPOSSIBLE to compare anything really. This episode will remind you to watch your thoughts & interrupt your brain when you start comparing yourself to others.  Comparison NEVER helps you feel good. Comparison will likely help you feel like shit. So, let’s practice thoughts that help us feel GOOD, neutral, & grounded. You ARE a MIRACLE. Don’t forget it. 018 | Social Media is NOT Real Life
Social media is NOT real life.  With face filters, airbrushing, body slimming editors, object removers, dopamine triggers, and more, social platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter & TikTok HAVE US HOOKED. Most people don't realize the actual harm social media has on our mind, personal beliefs & life overall. In this episode, I dive deep into this wild "social dilemma" & discuss how in many ways we can no longer differentiate what's reality & what’s fake. We go out of our way to make our surroundings look perfect by moving clothes, shifting dishes & changing things around our "normal" environment to make a picture or video “look nice” or rather, "perfect" in order to share & post. We are exposed to hundreds of filters that change our faces by making our noses smaller, eyes & lips bigger, cheekbones higher & skin perfect & clearer. We see things like waist trainers & skinny teas marketed by uneducated "Fitspos" influencing us to "change" our bodies into more attractive, slim, socially-approved ones. All rooting from the "big guys" that created these made-up ideals & use it against us to sell the products that will "fix" our "imperfections". They make millions off of our lowered self-esteem. Social media teaches us everything EXCEPT that body fat is NORMAL, cellulite is NORMAL, skin “blemishes” are NORMAL, skin rolls are NORMAL, having a bad day is NORMAL, feeling sad or disappointed is NORMAL & more. We find ourselves comparing our lives to other women & people we see on our feeds. We compare our looks, our bodies, our fitness level, our abilities, our homes, our jobs, our family dynamic, our worth & more.. We feel behind & not good enough all because we are scrolling mindlessly & getting stuck on pages belonging to people we don't even know, envying their lives (or rather, their photo galleries). We pressure ourselves to be like the millionaire celebrities & influencers we see online. We are manipulated through these "free" social platforms. When in fact, social media is NOT FREE by any means. Instagram, Facebook & all the others use US, the users, to make money with targeted marketing, advertisements & ever-changing algorithms. They manipulate our psychology with select human-geniuses that are behind the scenes pulling all the strings. Millions of people around the world are addicted to their cell phones & social apps. Every notification, direct message, alert, like, comment & tag is a dopamine hit (feel-good chemical), making it all highly addictive. In addition to the negative impact social media has on all of us, in this episode I share how I leverage these platforms & use them as tools to make a larger, more positive impact. I know that I can reach more women online than I ever could in-person. So why not make it work for me? For us? I'm here to remind you that Instagram is NOT reality. It shows the best-looking millisecond of a moment in a photo square. Build awareness.Practice unplugging from your phone.UNFOLLOW the accounts that trigger you to compare yourself & feel disempowered.Don't let yourself be manipulated by the marketing coming from the not-so-free app you've downloaded.Use your platforms to inspire, empower & love on the world. I invite you to also make time to watch the documentary called, The Social Dilemma (on Netflix).

017 | My Personal 2020 World Pandemic Experience
A WORLD PANDEMIC. Literally. As if “normal” life wasn’t already challenging enough… We all went through it, like… the entire planet. And this shit is STILL goin’ on. In this episode, I share my personal journey through good ole 2020. Right before the ‘rona hit, I was pretty much lovin’ my life (except for still being single AF of course). Tune in as I share a ton of personal shit I went through at the start of quarantine, how I moved through some major challenges, and learned so much about myself and life in the midst of the madness.  From never watching the news, to becoming briefly consumed with fear due to the media, I went through periods of serious anxiety to periods of not giving any absolute f*$ks (kinda..).. In this episode I share.... How challenging it was for me to quarantine in a quiet house all alone, and how a deep depression emerged. How I found it so hard to “find the motivation” to workout outside, and how I loathed myself for my inability to get up and “just do it!”.  My struggles with food and binge-eating while stuck at home alone all day. How I cried pretty regularly, because I was so lonely (literally living everyday inside by myself with my dog). How I chose to dig deep and work through the challenges I faced by investing in coaching, journaling daily, meditating, and doing all I could to create some kind of peace as I worked  through this “new life”. How I slowly picked myself up and did my best to show up for my community; creating Zoom calls, book clubs, searching for a light at the end of the tunnel, etc. How I FINALLY got to workout in a gym again after months of losing my mind on my couch. How I overcame social anxiety as I began being around people again after being quarantined (such a weird feeling).  How my mind got so loud & I beat myself up for gaining 15 pounds during a freggin’ world pandemic. How and why I chose to give up alcohol and what I learned After almost 5 YEARS of being single AF, and after the most lonely months I’d ever experienced… how I FINALLY met MY MAN, the nerd of my dreams! (ILY Tocho Bear) How I slowly started to have breakthrough after breakthrough in every challenge that was presented to me in 2020, and how these experiences weren’t small, but totally freggin life-changing. How I had to learn to watch my ego as I had very different opinions on mask-wearing, the media, politics, racial injustice, etc. How I practiced listening more, and found more compassion for the unique humans & complex world around me. And more... Do not miss this episode. You’ll find that no matter your circumstance, it is all ALWAYS working out FOR you. 016 | New Year, NOT Same Yo-Yo Diet
Happy New Year! We got through 2020 fam. It’s a new year, and if you’re here with me now, WE AIN’T ‘BOUT TO BE ABOUT ANOTHAH YO-YO DIET. Ya heard???  In this episode, I share my personal experience with major weight fluctuation up & down for over a decade. I reveal more truths about societal conditioning & the diet industry that makes BILLIONS of dollars every year off our nutrition & fitness journey fails. You’ll discover that the fad diet industry does NOT promote REAL health or wellness, how that "quick fix" detox tea will NOT make you healthier or happier, and why you DO NOT need a chiseled body or ripped 6-pack abs to be healthy & fit.  I remind you to watch what you’re consuming every day via TV, movies, magazines, social media, the radio, family & friends. I also suggest breaking up with & kicking the word “skinny” to the curb. :) And, I offer that it’d be a good idea to question why TF you desire to be “smaller” + “thinner” + “skinnier” in the first place… you’ll find that the answer likely did NOT come from the true YOU.  You’ll leave this episode more aware of yourself & the yearly patterns of average society. You’ll question HOW you actually want to FEEL, decide whether or not you’re ready to honestly look at & work through the habits that don’t serve you, and be able to set goals that are realistic, attainable, that actually LAST... & that you facking ENJOY. Tune in to not only get inspired & take inspired action, but to hear the gosh damn TRUTH.
