Dyslexia, kindness and a smile - with Cinematographer Will Jack Robinson
This week I am chatting to extremely humble and very talented Director of Photography (DOP), Will Jack Robinson,From early life as a creative student at Victoria College in Jersey to travelling around India filming some mentally tough documentaries, we chat about Will's career path and how he ended up becoming a DOP,  when he was originally training as a motion graphics artiste. We talk about how Will's Dyslexia has been a gift for him and how much he loves the blend of London chaos mixed with the calm of Jersey - especially when walking his two dogs at Green Island.  Not bad for someone who originally had a phobia of dogs! Will tells us about his thoughts on awards and film festivals as well as the importance of sharing knowledge with up and coming DOP's. We also chat about the important role social media plays in showing work and accessing knowledge as well as the level of technology built in to the average phone camera. While some would say Will is already a master of his craft, Will let's us in to his word of learning by doing as well as the importance of following the careers of his role models including the multi-award winning Sir Roger Deakins. And with a passion for playing his guitar, we find out why Will would travel for two hours on a bus journey to play a 10-minute live music set!Grab your earphones and enjoy! Cold Water, Rocks, Underpants and Adventure - with Marco Barcella
Today we are chatting with Marco Barcella, who is based in the beautiful town of Henley on Thames, UK. In a previous life, 35-year-old Marco was an expedition leader and a mountaineer, helping hundreds of people achieve their own mountainous challenges in exotic and far away locations such as Peru.   Since then, with a wife and with three kids in tow and his own business to run, Marco realised that life seemed to have become a little less adventurous and bit too 'normal'.  That is of course, until Marco decided to go and sit in the freezing cold river Thames every day during the month of January, in just his shorts. Not only that, for the month of February, Marco is carrying 50 kilos of rocks in his rucksack to and from work every day - no mean feat for someone with knee issues.  How did Marco become a happier person to be around?  What is the secret to a great nights sleep?  What is his advice for adventure tourism during the Pandemic?  What is Marco's link to little old Jersey?  How on earth is he going to come up with new challenges each month?   Grab your earphones, put the kettle on and join us to find out.  You can follow Maro's journey on Instagram here.@TheMarcoBarcellaYou can see Marco's company here

A class act who packs a punch - what's next Gigi Neil?
After a few months off, we are chatting to former Jersey College for Girls student, Gigi Neil - in an interview we recorded a few months ago.  Having trained in New York for just over three years, Gigi moved her knowledge and skill  closer to home, in London.  With plenty of love for the 50's it was no surpirse when Gigi auditioned and was offered the role of Marilyn Monroe at Universal Studios in Japan, a role she loved and really got her teeth in to. But how on earth does someone leap from being a famous Hollywood icon to playing the lead role (and only female actress) in the hit live-action stunt show - Waterworld?  And what risks does a live stunt show in front of 3,000 people at a time, bring for a girl from Jersey well known for winning lots of trophies at the local Eisteddfod?More importantly, what drives someone so young to then leave stunts behind and move from Japan to Canada? All of this and a whole lot more in the latest edition of my podcast - hope you enjoy! :)You can watch a clip of Gigi in Waterworld - hereGigi's websiteYou can see some footage of Waterworld at Universal Studios Japan - here.Jersey EisteddfodGigi - IMDbInstagram
