YES…YOU ARE IN SALES! - IMM028
Are you in sales? Before you answer that question think about what sales really is. Most people (except sales professionals) don’t consider themselves to be in sales. Sales is about influence. Nothing more nothing less. Everyone uses influence in their lives. We influence our kids to get them to behave the way we’d like them to behave. If you are married or have a partner, you had to influence that person to accept you as a mate. If you have a job, you had to influence the hiring person to hire you. If you are a manager in a company, you have to influence your employees to give you their best. Just telling them to give 100% never works unless you have real influence. Are you starting to get the picture? Sales is all about influence … nothing more nothing less. Read the Blog: http://bit.ly/2MTLt6S

3 Simple Steps to Successful Goal Setting - IMM025
Goals are “an observable and measurable end result having one or more objectives to be achieved within a more or less fixed timeframe.” They can be big goals like the kind you set on New Years Day, quarterly goals, weekly goals, or daily goals. The size and duration don’t matter except in how you execute the tactical portion of achieving the goal. A goal is a goal and the process for identification and attainment is the same regardless complexity. If you are ready for a change in your life, all you need to do is take three simple steps. These steps are so simple that you might think they couldn’t work. But they do!

Maximize Your Time & Double Your Productivity by Setting Goals - IMM023
Goal setting is an essential skill that effectively helps to add hours to your work week, and is a very worthy skill to master. The only hard part is in taking the first step and getting your first goals written down on paper. After your first try, you will probably find it so effective that you will start wondering how you managed to survive so long without written goals! Read the blog at http://bit.ly/2Bh8evc

It's Not All About Attitude...Or is it? - IMM022
Attitude is everything! Prolonged success (in other words, not a fluke) is only relegated to those that know how to harness the ability to have a positive mental attitude (PMA). Here’s what PMA is not. It’s not something taught by some self-help guru telling you to think nice happy things. Having a positive attitude is not a simple case of repeating positive affirmations to yourself to temporarily make you feel better, and it is not, as some call it, “fake it till you make it.” It's much more!

5 Steps to Success in Life - IMM018
I am a huge proponent of using formulas to do things I’ve never done before. Let me give you an example, I don’t consider myself to be a great cook; just a competent one. I really enjoy good food and I view dining and the presentation of food as an art. But here’s the deal, I don’t have to be an artist to make a good meal. I can simply follow a recipe. If I don’t deviate from the recipe, chances are that I’ll make something that is pretty tasty. Achieving success works much the same way. You can increase your chances for success substantially if you follow a recipe that others have used and that is proven to work. This podcast covers the 5 steps that you can take to increase your success in life. Read the blog: http://bit.ly/2h90zJ6

The Most Important Appointment - IMM017
Without fail, almost every business person that I coach struggles with stress. Even the most experienced of executives feels at times like they can’t keep their head above water. It’s not because they aren’t competent. It is usually because things keep moving faster and faster and the time management and stress reduction skills that once served them well, no longer work.

Is This Meeting Really Necessary? - IMM015
In offices and boardrooms all over the world you can hear the groans...another meeting?! It doesn't matter if the company is large or small; many people would agree that on a whole, most business meetings are not productive. In fact, they suck! There's nothing more wasteful than having a meeting just because you had it scheduled, or because it’s an excuse to get together and socialize. If it's the latter, call it what it is and don't hold a meeting. Schedule a get together, lunch, or some social function after business hours. Is Fear Holding You Back? - IMM014
A colleague and I were having coffee last week and she shared with me that she had a very strong fear of making cold calls. We talked a little about it and I discovered that the root of her fear was that she didn’t want to sound foolish or unknowledgeable. Now, I’ve known this person for a long time and I was surprised because I really respect her as a professional. But when I thought more about it later, I realized that her fears were probably pretty common among other sales professionals. In fact, I realized that it is our fears (real or imagined) that most often hold us back in life. So my friend, this blog is for you and anyone else that wants to be brave enough to recognize that the things you fear can be managed. Is There a Place for Love in the Workplace? - IMM013
I recently attended my daughter’s high school graduation from a Catholic girl’s school. The salutatorian and valedictorian both talked about “love” for their fellow students, the bonds that were formed between the classmates, and their mission to take this power out into the world as graduates. I’m very spiritual but not particularly religious. In fact, the quality of education was the main deciding factor in sending daughter to the school that I did. But, I was so pleasantly struck by the fervor that these girls had in caring for one another and their fellow humans. This was a product of religious focus in their education and it made me think about all of the challenges that business professionals face in the workplace. I wondered if the practice of love was similar to a technique that I have used in business. To see a written version of this podcast visit http://bit.ly/1XZDlCG.

How to Deal with the Unexpected in Goal Attainment - IMM012
Before you even start to set a goal, the deck is stacked against you. Why? Because, the human brain is not designed for goal attainment. Of the 20 percent of the population that does set goals, roughly 70 percent fail to achieve the goals they have set for themselves. When you take into consideration the fact that many of these goal-setting people strive for easily attainable, small goals, it’s a wonder that anyone accomplishes anything remarkable at all in business and in life. Hurry Up and Slow Down - IMM011
Everyone knows that if you want to be an accomplished person, or as I like to call them, a Peak Performer, you need to set goals and make a plan. Most people are pretty good at deciding they want to do something and they call that a goal. But, unfortunately, a goal without a plan is nothing more than a wish. I’ve written a lot about time management and goal setting and when it comes down to it, there is just no replacement for good planning. Who Do You Serve? - IMM010
In the podcast the concept of self-leadership as well as the practice of servant leadership is discussed. Self-leadership is the first step to becoming a more influential leader. After all, if you don’t have the goods, you can be an effective leader. And, you can’t give what you don’t have. To see a written version of this podcast visit http://bit.ly/2gFBUXF.

Who Stole My Time? - IMM008
One day it happens. You look in the mirror and don't recognize the person looking back at you. Perhaps the decades have slipped by and you are an older version of what you feel or internally visualize. Maybe it's not just decades, but months, and something has physically changed that you didn't notice before. Or, perhaps it's not a visual thing at all, but the realization that time has slipped by and you're not sure how you got to where you are today. Who stole your time? The answer is no one. YOU let it slip away!

Who Are You Leading? - IMM009
There’s an old saying, “leader of one, leader of many, if you can’t lead one you can’t lead any.” If you are not leading yourself, someone else is leading you…and it may not be the person or people that you want! Being a good leader in business or in life takes a lot of hard work as well as a conscious effort of self-development. To see a written version of this podcast visit http://bit.ly/2hA8cFw.

Setting Goals Isn’t Enough - IMM007
If you have the mindset of a Peak Performer, you are goal oriented. You set goals the right way; you make a list, you order your list, and you make your goals detailed, measurable and realistic. All of those things are a critical first step. But setting goals alone does not guarantee you will be successful at achieving them.

Set Your Goals the Right Way - IMM006
There is a right and there is a wrong way to set goals. If you choose the wrong way, it’s almost worse than setting no goals at all. Why? There are two simple reasons. The first reason is that you will probably fail in achieving what you wish. The second reason is that you will probably get frustrated and give up. Some people get so frustrated after their first failure that they never set goals again! They figure that they don’t have what it takes to achieve something bigger than what they are today. It’s sad, but it’s a fact.
