Our guest today is Jane Duncan-Rogers of Wild Wisdom. Her husband passed away from cancer, and it completely turned her business upside down. The lesson she learned added a lot more meaning and depth to what she was doing, so her business actually increased. What she teaches now is how to do everything upside down and backwards. It's a really interesting and informative interview and the great thing about it is Jane's completely different attitude towards looking at the importance of money and the importance of enjoying what you do. Sara is the owner of Batiks for Life LLC, a fair-trade oriented company that manufactures medical scrubs and accessories using the traditional batik fabric of Ghana, West Africa. The mission of Batiks for Life is threefold. First, to support an NGO in Ghana that provides education and vocational training to young single mothers and their children through the manufacture of these garments. Second, to create additional small sewing businesses in villages in Ghana, using fair trade practices. Third, to use a portion of profits to fund the creation of medical clinics in underserved communities in Ghana. Today we're interviewing Renee Pena, a learning specialist who has a really unique background. She's a New York State certified teacher, former dancer, and she has a degree in Arts and Special Education. Her company is Made For Your Learning which uses creative methods to figure out what a kid is best at and, like a jigsaw puzzle, figure out the best way for them to learn. She's on our show today because she has a really interesting story to tell about building a business that scales, yet at the same time keeps her in her spot of brilliance, working with the children and helping them piece together the best learning style for them as individuals. She had another business where she ended up just managing, and she realized that wasn't really right for her, so in today's interview she shares her secrets to creating a business that keeps you doing what you love to do.

Today we're interviewing Penny Cordova of Penny's Treasures. Penny is a little bit different from our normal collection of coaches and artists and teachers. She is a metalsmith and jewelry designer who sells her jewelry on Etsy, and she just recently left her day job to focus on her jewelry-making passion full-time. In this interview, we talk about what it's like to make that transition and how you would go about starting a business where you're making things by hand and selling them to people individually.

Today we're interviewing Lisa Marie Jenkins, who wrote "Wake Up Beauty, It's Not About The Prince." Lisa was very successful in corporate, went through a divorce, and discovered that in business she was like power tiger person. In her home life, though, she had a completely different role. Her mission in life is to help women merge those two people and become the powerful people they are, both in business and in their personal life. She shares some really good pointers on how to do that and how to start finding your passion and your brilliance and follow it in your life.

Today we're privileged to interview Dr. Matt Mannino of quantumemergence.com. What's interesting about Matt's story is he was a young chiropractic student just out of chiropractor school, and he was faced with starting a business with $80,000 in debt. He just wasn't sure where to start or what to do, so he really thought about it. He thought about what he had learned as a chiropractor, that healing happens from within and it's about creating the systems. He used those same principles and created his business. He calls that system Quantum Emergence. Using that system, he grew his chiropractic practice into one of the biggest in the nation. He was seeing over 1,000 patients and was a millionaire by the time he was 30. In our interview today, he goes over that system with us and tells you how to begin on the road to creating what you want in your life.

Today, we're interviewing Jewel Gould of WhatAboutMommys.com. She was an Allstate agent and was getting very burned out with that, so she decided that she really needed to take care of herself. Out of that, she grew a whole business around helping moms take care of themselves. Her "What About Mommys" blog is not so much about crafts and beautiful sandwiches made with cookie cutters. Instead, it's about health and self esteem and fashion and travel, all for the purpose of uplifting and encouraging moms. We talked with her about some things that moms can do to feel better and be better mothers to their children at the same time.

Today we're interviewing Amy Monarch, who makes money selling different products on Amazon and started this business from scratch. Amy is originally from Albuquerque, spent some time in Seattle, and then moved back to Albuquerque with basically two suitcases and a pillow. She has built this business from nothing to a very successful enterprise, and she shares a wealth of information on this podcast about how you, too, can get started on Amazon. She also talks about her podcast where she's parlaying her passion for health — she's a health educator — and some really useful information for people with diabetes.

Today we're interviewing Andy Hayes from Plum Deluxe. Andy was in a toxic corporate environment and was getting physically sick, so he decided he needed to do something else. He went into consulting, and that turned into basically a "job" as well. Finally, he decided to go with his passion and create what was in him to create, and he did it. He started with an idea, and it turned into products in an interesting twist. This is really a fascinating story of how he moved from "hunker down" to a really nice place where he loves what he does and what his company stands for, creating moments that matter all the time in his life.

Today we're interviewing one of my favorite people, Renee Charbonneau, of Anthem Virtual. Renee is a virtual assistant who has four kids that she's home-schooling, and she has managed to create a business that puts food on the table and allows her to live a lifestyle where the home is really the center of her life. The best part of the interview for me are the tips Renee gives to those who are hiring their first team. A lot of times, people are told, "Hire a virtual assistant, and all your problems will be solved." Unfortunately, it doesn't always work quite that way, so Renee gives some practical tips for making sure that you're filling your business with the right people the first time.

Today we're interviewing Jennifer Zivic, who has two businesses. One of them is AdventureTravelGal.com, an adventure travel blog that she founded four years ago before she even branched off on her own. Jennifer's other business is a branding business called I Brand U. Her particular situation is really interesting because the businesses seem very different on the surface, but she weaves them together in a very innovative way that I think will benefit a lot of people out there who have a very marketable skill and a very different passion. Jennifer shows how you can do both and have them both strengthen each other.

After raising 6 kids and college educating them all, Terri Kelly found herself starting over financially at the age of 50. At the same time, a running injury forced her to find a new sport. She decided to give yoga a try. She went to her local Lululemon to buy her first pair of yoga pants and immediately fell in love with the soft, lightweight feel and minimalist design. She found a cute top to go with them and then looked around the store for something to put on her feet and discovered that they don't sell footwear. She then did a market analysis and found that the large yoga apparel companies do not sell footwear to go with the ever-popular yoga pant, so she got to work. She found sourcing in China, went through the design process, and created terrikellys, the "yoga pants for your feet".
