Finding your voice w/ G. Love
G. Love is a world renowned musician known for his unique combination of blues and hip hop which he’s been playing with his band for over 20 years now. We’re going to dive into his story, learning about his origins and where the path is taking him today. “the best thing you can do is be original.” There is always someone who can play guitar or sing, so you have to find that niche that you fall into. I love the crossover between this in music but also business and being true yourself and finding your own voice and niche. Did you know G Love was a major influence on Jack Johnson? Check them out playing Radio Clown live, the song that launched Jack on his path to huge success. If you want to hear about Woodstock G. Doing what you love and helping Veterans – A Voicesforvets.co Special podcast with Frank Gustafson
Today we’re dedicating our episode to Voices for Vets. And today’s guest is an expert at about helping vets make the transition to civilian life, (He did it himself, coming from the Marine Corp) Frank Gustafson. This show was a real pleasure to do for a few reasons. I’m getting to help out a great cause (VoiceForVets.co – A Special Tribute To Veterans) where 45 podcasters teamed together for causes important for Veterans, and we speak to Frank Gustafson about following his passion, helping Vets. At the end of the show, Frank gives us a great exercise to work on about finding your strengths, your weaknesses (and actually crossing them off your list so you don’t have to do them), and what you’re good at. I love this idea, and I’m going to borrow it, I may even create it as an exercise for this blog later. The number one thing Frank emphasizes is to learn how to network and get out there and meet people. (both on and offline) He talks about having a plan. Making the steps needed to understand who you are, what skills you can bring to a job… Or even starting your own business. Frank really understands how to help vets be successful in the transition period. Veterans don’t need a hand out.. They just need a hand. About Frank Gustafson: Frank dropped out of high school and joined the Marine Corps young in life. When he got out he started his first real business at 18. Along the way he several other jobs that Frank say’s “filled my bank account but emptied my soul”. He’s made the transition and now runs http://oneboldmove.com/ and the Lead Like a Marine podcast. Frank brings together all of his experience as an executive coach, business consultant, leadership trainer, author and certified speaker on his site and podcast. Using Science and Passion to get more productivity with Dr. Isaac Jones
Dr. Isaac H. Jones is a Health Doctor and expert in Healthy Lifestyle Design. Dr Jones is not just about biohacking and health though – but also changing your identity to maximize your potential for optimal performance. He talks about what they’re doing to help people really dive in and figure out what is going on with your body. It’s an interesting look at health and the environmental factors that affect it. We also hear a great story about how Tony Robbins was able to see amazing results from testing and making changes that have not only helped his health but also his business and finances. It’s interesting to hear how living in your passion can really benefit the bottom line not only for entrepreneurs but also corporations and executives as well. Dr Jones call to action is – Minimize inflammatory agents in your diet. 1 Grains 2 Processed Sugars 3 GMO corn products About Dr Jones: His passion came when he hit “rock bottom”, couldn’t focus (was diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia) and was put in special needs to take tests. After riding on the drug-ridden roller coaster of the medical model he went to a health doctor that actually addressed the cause and transformed my health, and ability to focus (I started getting A’s). He learned that most people are mortgaging their future through their lifestyle whether they know it or not and thinking that the medical parachute is going to save them when in most cases it helps them hit the ground harder. How to create a social business with a purpose w/ Rob Hendrickson
Rob Hendrickson is full of amazing stories and profound realizations – all about how to live a more fulfilling life with your family, work and everything else. Rob was a rodeo cowboy, turned ad agency owner, turned veterinary supplement company owner. (make sure to check out the documentary in the links below) He wore the hat, boots and jeans and then the black suit and range rover – but now truly feels like he’s found his purpose and passion. We talk about being true to yourself and really how he’s building a social business that truly is PURPOSE driven. We dive into all different aspects of building a business based around this “social” aspect. The pros the cons and why you shouldn’t do it as a “marketing tactic” Make sure to listen until the end for Rob’s call to action. A bit more about Rob: He grew up on a ranch in western South Dakota where his father was a veterinarian in which his work was always treated as a lifestyle. He grew up as a rodeo cowboy but he was always a bit of an outcast even though he dressed the part, boots, hat and jeans but with a journal full of notes and sketches of inventions always tucked under his arm. Re-locating to Fort Worth, Texas he injured his knee and didn’t think he could get a ‘job’ that didn’t require some sort of physical labor. He ended up getting a graphic design job and fell in love with it working with an AD agency. He was a partner in an agency and continued to dive headfirst throughout the 90s until selling his company and switching to an internet business. That business started to focus on things like google adwords (seo) and he started to realize it was going away from his passions. From there he went into consulting but was consistently looking for a way in which he could apply his skills to something more tangible… Two of his clients were a couple of veterinarians who had just launched a supplement for animals. Which turned into Full Bucket.
